The general's wife knows medicine

Chapter 44 Yuan Minkang

When Tang Peipei brought the child home, Tang's mother and Aunt Yuan had already returned.

Seeing Tang Peipei coming back with a ragged child, he was very curious.

Tang Peipei told what happened on the street today, and complained: "It's all because of this guy that I haven't visited many places yet."

The child stood in the corner without saying a word.

He didn't know what Tang Peipei was going to do with him after bringing him back.

Nanny Yuan understood what Tang Peipei meant. Since she didn't send the child directly to the authorities, it was probably because the child looked really pitiful.

Nanny Yuan said softly, "Child, come here, let me see if you are hurt."

The child has been an orphan since he was old enough to understand. He grew up from a beggar's group through hard work to his current size.

No one had ever spoken to him in such a gentle tone.

Perhaps feeling familiar, the child walked up to Madam Yuan and stood still.

Nanny Yuan took the child's hand, her hands were cold.

"Poor thing, what's your name?" asked Nanny Yuan.

"I don't have a name." The child said, those old beggars were all little beasts and little bastards and called him that. No one gave him a name, and he himself didn't know how to give himself a name.

"How can you not have a name?" Nanny Yuan felt bitter, but smiled at the child and said, "My daughter has studied, why don't you let her give you a name?"

The child looked at Madam Yuan and said nothing. Although he also wanted to have a name, who would give a name to someone who stole their money? That's why he didn't want to make things awkward for himself.

Tang Peipei had seen his stubbornness, and it was impossible to get him to speak on his own.

Thinking that the child was indeed pitiful, Tang Peipei felt compassion and let go of her unhappiness.

After thinking for a while, he said, "Since it was Madam Yuan who asked me to pick the name, then I'll just follow Madam Yuan's surname. Let's call me Yuan Minkang."

Tang Peipei went to get paper and pen and wrote down the three words.

"Min is a kind of stone like jade. Although it is not as good as jade, it can be carved into a work of art and has its own value. Kang means I hope you can grow up healthily and safely."

Tang Peipei handed the paper with her name written on it to the child.

The child felt ashamed and moved when he heard Tang Peipei's explanation of his name.

He reached out and took the paper that Tang Peipei handed over, staring blankly at the words on it.

I said softly: "Thank you!"

He didn't expect that Tang Peipei would let go of the past and really help him think of a good name.

Tang Peipei gave him this name because he was still young and hoped to guide him on the right path, using this name to tell him that although he was not born with advantages and loved by others like some people, he could also have his own value through hard work.

Nanny Yuan and Tang's mother smiled at each other. Nanny Yuan said, "This is a nice name. You are indeed educated."

Seeing that it was almost noon, Tang's mother got up and went to the kitchen, heated up the unfinished dishes from yesterday, and brought them to the table.

Yuan Mingkang wanted to leave, but he didn't dare to leave until Tang Peipei gave the order.

Nanny Yuan asked him about his past life in a random manner, and Yuan Minkang answered honestly.

It was only then that Tang Peipei realized that the reason why this child was so stubborn was entirely because of his experience.

Yuan Minkang didn’t know how old he was. As far as he could remember, he had been a beggar for eight or nine years.

He usually begs on the street. The reason why he stole Tang Peipei's purse today was because another little beggar with him was seriously ill, and he didn't want to watch his only friend die like this, so he wanted to steal the silver to treat the little beggar.

Tang Peipei laughed angrily after hearing what he said.

"You're really good. Why were you so stubborn just now? If I hand you over to the police, you'll go to jail, and then your friend will be left alone."

Yuan Mingkang also felt a little regretful. He was just used to being bullied and knew that begging for mercy was useless, so he learned to be stubborn. He was wrong just now.

"I'm sorry!" Yuan Minkang knelt down in front of Tang Peipei.

This sudden surrender made Tang Peipei feel a little at a loss as to what to do.

"What are you doing? Why are you suddenly kneeling down in front of me?" Tang Peipei quickly moved aside. She was really not used to the feeling of being kneeled down.

"I, I want to ask you to save my friend, he is dying." Yuan Mingkang said as he kowtowed heavily.

Tang Peipei looked at Nanny Yuan and saw that Nanny Yuan was also looking at her with pleading eyes.

Tang Peipei sighed helplessly. Well, since she had asked for this, she had to do it as a good person. Besides, judging from the way Nanny Yuan acted, she seemed to like Yuan Mingkang quite a lot. She would just consider it as helping Nanny Yuan.

"Where is it? Take me there." Tang Peipei asked.

Seeing that Tang Peipei agreed, Yuan Minkang happily led the way.

Tang's mother came out after heating up the dishes. Seeing Tang Peipei and Yuan Mingkang walking out, she asked Aunt Yuan, "Where are they going? Aren't they going to eat?"

Nanny Yuan then told Tang's mother what had just happened.

Tang's mother sighed when she heard this, "They are all pitiful people."

Tang's mother knew that they would not be back for a while, so she reheated the food in the pot, thinking of eating it after they came back.

Tang Peipei was led by Yuan Mingkang to walk for half an hour and came to a dilapidated house. The house was full of dust and cobwebs. It seemed that no one had lived there for a long time and the house was in disrepair.

"Have you always lived here?" Tang Peipei asked.

Yuan Mingkang nodded and said, "This is an abandoned house that no one wants. Xiaoya and I are staying here."

Yuan Minkang brought Tang Peipei into the house and saw a child curled up in the corner with hay on the ground and a quilt that was so tattered that it leaked air.

Tang Peipei hurried over, held the child's hand, and took her pulse.

After feeling the pulse, Tang Peipei breathed a sigh of relief.

He said to Yuan Mingkang: "She caught a cold and was sick for a long time. The weather was too cold, so she was delayed a bit."

Tang Peipei took off her cloak. This was because her mother saw that the weather was too cold and Tang Peipei was afraid of the cold, so she made her a simple cloak to keep out the cold wind.

She wrapped the child in her cloak and held him in her arms.

He said to Yuan Mingkang, "Let's go to the clinic to get some medicine." After saying that, he went out first.

Yuan Minkang quickly caught up with Tang Peipei.

The two men took the child to the nearest clinic, but it was closed.

Tang Peipei just remembered that today was the first day of the new year and clinics usually would not be open today.

"The clinic is probably closed today. Let's go back to my house first. We'll come back to get the medicine when the clinic opens tomorrow."

Yuan Mingkang was a little anxious, "But her condition is very serious now. She will die if she doesn't take medicine."

Tang Peipei didn't know how he could be so sure that the child would die if he didn't take the medicine.

Tang Peipei patiently comforted her, "Don't worry, she won't die as long as I'm here. Go back first, it will be warmer at my house."

Seeing that Tang Peipei was sure, Yuan Minkang nodded and followed Tang Peipei back home.

When Tang's mother and Aunt Yuan saw Tang Peipei coming back with a child, they knew it was the child Yuan Mingkang had mentioned.

Tang's mother hurried forward, took the child from Tang Peipei's hands, and carried the child directly to the room where she slept.

There was always a charcoal fire in her room. Tang Peipei was afraid that she would catch a cold, so she kept it burning. Usually, Xiaotuanzi and Nanny Yuan also played in that room during the day.
