The CEO's Wife and First Love

Chapter 701; Favoritism

The saying "beauty is in the eye of the beholder" was perfectly embodied in Elena's father's mind. In his eyes, Qiuyan was everything; everything else became insignificant. His gaze was completely drawn to Qiuyan, as if she were the center of his world.

Now, he doesn't care much about his daughter anymore. His mind is entirely focused on Qiuyan, and his daughter seems to exist only as a distant backdrop. He no longer pays attention to his daughter's life as before, no longer cares about her joys and sorrows, and even forgets her birthday.

This change left Elena feeling confused and lost. She couldn't understand why her father had suddenly become so cold towards her, or why he was focusing all his attention on Qiuyan. She tried to communicate with her father, hoping to regain his attention and love, but he was always absent-minded, letting her words go in one ear and out the other.

Elena was filled with doubt and confusion. She couldn't help but reflect on herself: Was it really because she hadn't done enough? Why was her father treating her this way? Countless nights, she tossed and turned in bed, unable to sleep; during the day at work, the memories of her time with her father kept replaying in her mind, making her increasingly heavy-hearted and restless...

Finally, one day, Elena, who had been suppressing her feelings for so long, finally snapped! She could no longer endure this tormenting feeling, so she stormed up to her father and loudly questioned him, "Dad! What is it about your daughter that you think is wrong with me? Why do you hate me so much now? Why would you rather trust a stranger who is not related to you by blood than trust the biological daughter you raised with such hardship?"

Faced with his daughter's sudden questioning, Elena's father was clearly surprised, but he quickly regained his composure and responded angrily, "Hmph! Now that things have come to this, you still have the nerve to come and ask me? Don't you know what you've done? Look at what you've done! How can you live with yourself like this?" His voice was full of anger and disappointment, as if he wanted to vent all his emotions.

Elena's father clenched his fists so tightly that his nails dug deep into his palms. He tried to control his emotions, but the anger in his eyes was impossible to conceal. He glared at his daughter, as if trying to see through her eyes to her true thoughts.

The daughter was startled by her father's angry expression. She involuntarily took a step back, her heart filled with fear and guilt. She knew she had done wrong, but she didn't know how to face her father's questioning and anger. She lowered her head, unable to look him in the eye, tears welling up in her eyes.

Elena cautiously raised her head, her gaze quickly sweeping across her father's face before she lowered her eyelashes again, thinking to herself, "Huh? Why does Dad's face seem less gloomy today... Could it be that he's calmed down?"

With a sliver of hope, Elena mustered her courage and whispered, "Dad...it's all my fault. I haven't taken better care of you or been more understanding of you before. Please be forgiving and don't hold it against me! If you feel lonely and want to find a companion, I'll do my best to help you! As long as it makes you happy, I don't mind if it's tiring~ So, I'll help you find someone, but only if it's not Qiuyan. She's not a good person. I'll find you someone better so our family can live happily together! Please, Dad."

"You're dreaming! I don't want anyone else, I only want Qiuyan. What kind of life have I lived since your mother passed away? Only after I met Qiuyan did I realize that life can still be so beautiful. I hope you will respect her. If I find out you will hurt her again, I will not be polite to you, hmph." Elena's father spoke angrily.

Elena trembled with anger at her father's words. She hadn't expected him to be so stubborn. "Dad, are you really so bewitched by her? Don't you realize that she's approaching you with an ulterior motive?" Elena shouted hoarsely.

The father sneered dismissively, "I think you're the one with ulterior motives. You just can't stand to see me doing well. Qiuyan is truly sincere towards me. She's gentle and considerate, unlike you, who's always arguing with me."

Elena closed her eyes in despair, tears streaming down her face. Just then, the doorbell rang. Her father composed himself and hurried to open the door. Standing there was Qiuyan. She wore a fake smile and carried some fruit.

“Darling, I heard you and Elena had a little disagreement, so I came to check on you,” Qiu Yan said sweetly.

Elena looked at Qiu Yan, a surge of anger rising within her. She rushed forward, knocked the fruit out of Qiu Yan's hand, and glared at her angrily: "Stop pretending here, I'll expose your true colors today!"

Looking at the woman before her, her face flushed and her chest heaving with anger, Qiu felt a mixture of amusement and exasperation. However, she didn't show her true emotions. Instead, she deliberately adopted a pitiful expression and said in a trembling voice, "Elena, what...what's wrong with you? What...what did I do to make you so angry?"

"Elena! You've gone too far! Didn't you hear what I said? Or are you simply ignoring my words like they're nothing? Get out of here right now!" Elena's father roared at her furiously, quickly standing up and firmly blocking Qiu Yan's path, like an impregnable fortress, as if afraid that Elena might suddenly lose control and hurt Qiu Yan in the slightest.

Seeing her father's furious outburst, Elena was so angry she felt like her lungs were about to explode. Her father had completely changed, becoming someone she didn't even recognize. She wondered what kind of bewitching potion Qiu Yan had given her father, making him so infatuated that he didn't even care about his only biological daughter.

“Dad, I’m your own daughter!” Elena cried, tears streaming down her face, but her father remained unmoved, his eyes filled with disgust. “Enough, stop making a scene. I don’t want to hear any more of this,” her father said coldly.

Qiu Yan tugged at her father's sleeve, feigning concern. "Darling, don't be angry. Maybe Lena just didn't think things through. Don't get angry and hurt yourself. It will break my heart." Qiu Yan said in a coquettish tone, secretly pleased with herself.
