The Legend of the Farm Girl

Chapter 20 Improving Military Strength

The next morning, every family got up early and prepared breakfast. Except for Yunfang, everyone was very tired. The simple accommodation environment made everyone feel uncomfortable.

Aunt Li and her family were a little surprised to see Yunfang still in high spirits. This is a sensitive period for a girl of her age, and after more than two years of getting along with her, they didn’t realize that she was such a carefree little girl!

Yunfang cooked the meal for her family. While cooking, she asked Yunfeng to pick up a square stone weighing about three pounds from the roadside.

The rope dart that Yunfang practiced with yesterday weighed about three pounds, and there was also a rope. There was some hemp rope at home, which was very strong and could be used directly.

Yunfeng always did whatever his sister told him to do. When Yunfang asked her to find a stone, he went there without hesitation.

While cooking, Yunfang whispered to her mother about the self-protection method she learned from the system last night.

She felt that her mother and Yunfeng should practice so that they could protect themselves even if they encountered special situations.

They were an orphan and a widow, unlike Aunt Li's family. If they really encountered danger on the road, how could they ask Aunt Li's family for protection? They still had to rely on themselves.

Yunfang's words were agreed by her mother. She would go find some stones later. There were a lot of hemp ropes at home, so she could make a few more.

After the two of them finished discussing, Yunfang's mother went out to find a suitable stone. Yunfang continued to cook, took out the dry food she had made earlier and heated it up. She looked at the bean sprouts she had grown earlier and found that they were very successful and could be eaten in another day.

When the Li family saw Yunfang's mother and Yunfeng looking for stones, they were a little surprised but did not ask anything. Stones were very common and had many uses. They thought that they might be toys prepared in case Yunying got bored on the road.

After breakfast, the two families and four cars set off. They had left the villages and towns covered by Deping County and entered Liushan County. Both Deping County and Liushan County belonged to Wendong Province. The entire Wendong Province had not seen a drop of rain since spring, but Liushan County was more prosperous than Deping County, so the people there should be more capable of resisting natural disasters than those in Deping County. They should not run into anyone on the road.

These are what Aunt Li said to Yun Fangniang before they set off.

When Yunfang heard what Aunt Li said, she felt a little worried.

When getting on the carriage, Yunfang told her mother about her worries.

"Mom, if Liushan County is bigger and more prosperous than Deping County, then the news of the riots in the north will be more likely to spread. There may be more people on the streets! We have to be prepared for this," Yunfang said solemnly.

Yunfang's mother thought what Yunfang said was right, so she quickly urged Yunfang to make the weapon and teach herself and Yunfeng how to use it.

Yunfang didn't need her mother's encouragement and had already started to do it. Just as the system taught her, she made the one that best suited her arm length and strength.

Then he made one for his mother and Yunfeng. He called Yunfeng to his side and said to him, "This is for you. I will teach you how to use it. You can practice it when you have a chance. If you practice well, you can use it for self-defense."

Yunfeng looked at Yunfang in shock and said, "Sister, you are good at embroidery and you learn to read and write quickly, but how come you also know martial arts? How come you are so good!"

Yunfang gave him a look that said, "I'm your sister, I must be very capable, just listen to me!"

Yun Feng was full of admiration and repeatedly assured himself that he would practice well.

Yunfang took out another weapon and handed it to the mother driving the cart. She told her how to use it and asked her to practice more.

Then she said to her mother, "Mom, I'll drive the car. You and Yunfeng can sit in the back and practice. More practice will help you to be effective when you need it."

Yunfang's mother nodded and handed the task of driving the mule cart to Yunfang with great confidence.

The Li family was surprised when they noticed that the person driving the mule cart had become Yunfang. How could such a young girl drive a mule cart!

Aunt Li was even more shocked. She had more contact with Yunfang's family and knew that Yunfang usually stayed at home embroidering, and her embroidery skills were very good. Aunt Li also planned to go to the Yun family in a few years to ask for Yunfang's hand in marriage for her grandson. She thought she would be delicate, but she didn't expect that she could even drive a mule cart. This made Aunt Li feel that this child was extraordinary.

Looking at Yunfang and then at the little grandson of his eldest son, he felt that they were a perfect match.

Aunt Li had not told other family members about her thoughts. At first, they thought that Aunt Li wanted to take the Yun family with her simply out of pity for the orphans and widows. Now, seeing the way Aunt Li looked at Yun Fang and her little grandson, they understood Aunt Li's plan.

But the Li family cannot bring it up now. If they do, it would be like asking for repayment for a favor, or even like a threat. If things go wrong, the in-laws might become enemies.

Once the two families in Jiangliao Province support each other and let their children develop feelings, perhaps everything will fall into place.

The Li family's thoughts were circulating in their minds, but the Yunfang family didn't feel anything. However, the Li family did take better care of them during the rest of the trip.

The two families helped each other on the road and finally arrived in Jiangliao Province.

A day later, the two families were walking on the county road in Liushan County when suddenly there were more people. What Yunfang had imagined happened. Most people in Liushan County had received news of the riots in the north, and those who had the conditions were organizing to flee to the south.

Fortunately, the evacuation had not disrupted the order, and everyone did not interfere with each other and walked peacefully for two days. However, the originally planned resting place had already been occupied by people who arrived earlier. The two families could only rest in the car or sleep in their clothes on the side of the road.

Yunfang has been practicing the system without slacking off these past few days, and finally has gained some self-protection ability.

During the day, Yunfang drove the cart so that her mother and Yunfeng could practice throwing as much as possible.

The Yun family finally had some ability to protect themselves in this chaotic world.
