The ancestor is here, she is here with space

Chapter 83: Calling the Earth for No Response

On the second day, as the sun rose, the exile team from the post station set out on their arduous journey again, urged on by the officials.

On the way, the officials' attitude became increasingly bad, and they insulted and whipped the prisoners from time to time.

Lin Congyun saw this and felt that these officials seemed to be doing it on purpose. As long as they didn't touch the people in the general's mansion, she didn't bother to care about it.

The afternoon sky suddenly turned gloomy, and large flakes of snow fluttered down, slowing down the exile team's progress.

As the officers watched the heavy snow begin to fall again, their attitude became even more severe. They waved their whips from time to time, urging the prisoners to speed up.

However, heavy snow blocked the road and the speed of travel could not be increased.

By the evening, the team did not arrive at the designated location as scheduled.

A village appeared ahead, with a few simple huts swaying in the wind and snow.

After discussing for a while, the officials decided to go to the village to stay overnight.

At the entrance of the village, the wind was cold and the snow was falling heavily.

The exile team stepped into the village which seemed peaceful but had a strange atmosphere.

Lin Congyun sat in the carriage and followed the team into the village. He saw that it was quiet all around and the doors of several huts were closed. It seemed that no one had lived there for a long time.

She couldn't help but feel a little doubtful. Why was this village so deserted?

The officers seemed to have noticed something was wrong, and they looked at each other. Finally, a burly officer came forward and knocked on the door of one of the huts, but no one answered.

"Strange, why is there no one in this village?" the officer frowned.

The whole village was dead silent, as if it had been forgotten by time; even the sound of the wind was swallowed up by the snowflakes.

The officers began searching everywhere, hoping to find any trace of human habitation, but the results were disappointing.

The village was deserted, not even livestock was to be seen.

Lin Congyun got out of the car, walked towards a thatched cottage on the thick snow.

She gently pushed open the rickety door and saw that the house was simply furnished and the stove was cold. It was obvious that no one had lived there for a long time.

Lin Congyun asked Wu Jinjie to take the guards and check the surroundings.

After a while, Wu Jinjie came over.

"Reporting to the old ancestor, I heard the officials say that this village is the manor of the governor of Changhan County. When they escorted prisoners through it two years ago, there were still people living here. But today, for some reason, there is no one to be seen."

Lin Congyun frowned, then told Wu Jinjie to continue inquiring.

As night falls, the village is covered with snow, all in silver.

The officials made a fire to keep warm, and the prisoners in the exile team also found places to settle down.

Lin Congyun sat in the corner of the hut, next to him were Fang Deyu and several daughters-in-law with their grandchildren.

She closed her eyes to rest, but her heart was unsettled.

This village was too weird, and she always felt something was wrong.

Fang Deyu saw that Lin Congyun looked unhappy, and whispered, "Mom, what's wrong with you? Are you feeling uncomfortable?"

Lin Congyun shook his head, opened his eyes slightly, looked at Fang Deyu's worried face, and felt a warm feeling in his heart.

She said softly, "Nothing, I just feel that this village is a little weird."

"Strange?" Fang Deyu frowned and looked around. "It is a little different. How come there is no one in such a big manor?"

Lin Congyun sighed and said, "This village is indeed very different. There are houses and fields, but not a single person is seen. It seems as if it was suddenly emptied out."

Fang Deyu nodded, feeling a little uneasy.

At this time, Wu Jinjie came back.

"Butler Wu, how are you finding out?"

Wu Jinjie looked solemn and shook his head: "I have inquired about it. This village is called Qingxi Village. There were originally dozens of families, but for some reason, they all disappeared overnight without a trace."

"They all disappeared overnight?" Lin Congyun was shocked. "How is this possible? Did they all encounter some misfortune?"

Wu Jinjie sighed, "I thought so too, but after searching for a long time, we didn't even find a body. Moreover, the houses in the village were intact, and the crops in the fields were growing well. It was as if the villagers had suddenly disappeared collectively."

Lin Congyun pondered for a moment and said, "This matter is too strange. We should be careful. Let's take turns to keep watch tonight to prevent any accidents from happening."

Fang Deyu and his daughters-in-law all nodded in agreement.

As the night deepened, the only sound in the village was the sound of falling snow, making it seem especially quiet.

Seeing that everyone was fast asleep, Lin Congyun took the opportunity to enter the space.

She originally thought that the bandits would wake up today, but she never expected that when she entered the space at night, the bandits were still in a coma.

Could it be that we used too much drugs on them last time?

Lin Congyun was too lazy to care about all this and looked at the two little tigers, who were more energetic than yesterday.

I saw two little tigers playing with a little wild cat. Although the little wild cat was small, it was very agile, which made the little tigers roar happily from time to time.

The white tiger was lying not far from the bandits, its pair of golden eyes piercing as it stared at the sleeping bandits.

I didn't expect that this white tiger was so obedient. I felt even more admiration for its loyalty.

Suddenly, there was a burst of noise in his ears, and Lin Congyun turned around and looked over.

The sound came from inside the rockery and became louder and louder.

She frowned slightly and walked quickly towards the rockery.

Opening the stone door of the rockery, Lin Congyun shouted angrily, "What are you making so much noise for?"

Inside the rockery, a group of people huddled together, their faces filled with fear and helplessness and despair in their eyes.

When they saw Lin Congyun coming in, they surrounded him as if they had seen a savior.

"Madam, please give us something to eat and some water to drink..."

Their voices were filled with tears and trembling as they expressed their longings.

Lin Congyun looked at this group of officials and then he remembered that they had been detained for several days without food or water.

They just woke up yesterday, only took a look at Lin Congyun, and were locked in the rockery again.

For a whole day, they cried out in pain but nothing happened.

After a lot of effort, Lin Congyun finally opened the stone door again. He no longer looked as arrogant as he did yesterday.

She glanced at everyone and said calmly, "Why? You know how to beg me now? Weren't you very arrogant yesterday?"

Zhou Huzi immediately knelt in front of Lin Congyun and kowtowed, saying, "Old Madam, we were blind and did not recognize the great man. Please forgive us. We know we were wrong. As long as you give us something to eat and drink, we are willing to work like slaves for you."

The officers following behind did not show any weakness and quickly knelt down.

Even the officer and soldier named Deng was no exception.
