Chapter 786 My Big Brother Could Never Be an Undercover Agent

Conan only snapped out of his daze when Chu Ming's figure disappeared into the darkness. He looked at Kid beside him, his tone blank, and asked, "Tell me, should I believe him?"

Today was the first time Kid had contact with the organization Conan mentioned. Even Conan wasn't sure about it, so Kid was even more confused and could only comfort Conan from an outsider's perspective: "Now, besides believing him, what other choice do you have?"

Conan was at a loss. Ai Haibara was in the organization's hands, and the only reliable force, the FBI, seemed helpless. Amuro Tooru, who had become his uncle's apprentice, was also an organization member. Vermouth was in dire straits, and Granburg couldn't distinguish friend from foe... As for Doflamingo, he couldn't put him in danger for his own sake.

For a moment, he seemed utterly alone and helpless.

“…No.” Conan’s tone was dejected, his hands clenched into fists. “If that organization really knows my identity, they will either silence me or use me as a test subject… You should leave first. I’ve dragged you into this.”

"Hey, detective, how could I leave you here alone in this state... That organization you mentioned doesn't sound like a friendly bunch. Maybe I can help you with something."

“No, if what Granburg just said is true, and I am under the organization’s control, then there must be people from the organization watching me all the time. It’s too dangerous for you to stay here… Don’t worry, if anything happens, don’t forget that I can still contact the FBI.”

Conan didn't actually plan to contact Subaru Okiya, since Granburg had just warned him. But right now, he needed to get Kid out of danger. He already felt guilty enough for asking Kid for help and then putting him in danger. If Kid hadn't been able to escape, there would be one more person waiting to be rescued.

Kid was at a loss for what to do. His knowledge of the organization was limited to what he overheard while disguised as Sherry on the train. He knew nothing else. After hearing that Conan was also in contact with the FBI, he felt much more at ease and took off with his hang glider.

After Kid left, Conan finally took off the mask of nonchalance he had been putting on and let out a long sigh. This was not the time for him to feel guilty or remorseful. He had never understood Granbury, but after so much time together, he was not one to make promises lightly.

Kidd was right; he had no choice but to trust Granbury now.

He hurried downstairs, intending to go back and tell Professor Agasa what had happened, and also to inform the professor.

Meanwhile, Chu Ming found a safe house nearby and curled up on the bed, looking through the missions left behind by Vermouth on his phone. He had previously given all the missions to Vermouth, and although she agreed, she had been busy with the Mysterious Train and hadn't really done the missions properly.

Now Gin says he'll keep an eye on him, so he checks his phone and, lo and behold, it's exactly as it was.

Damn it, we wasted two boxes of bombs, and then Gin tricked us into switching them. We didn't even get to see the fireworks, and we couldn't get the mission done. I'm getting angrier and angrier.

The thought of having to do a mission with Gin tomorrow, and a job interview at that, made my vision go black.

He still remembers the interview tips Gin taught him. If he actually brought Gin along, he'd probably either suspect this guy was a rat or think that guy was useless...

He seriously doubted that anyone from the training camp would leave alive tomorrow.

Chu Ming decided to keep things simple. He'd bring a few packets of rat poison with him tomorrow, and during the job interviews, he'd give one to each interviewee. Anyone who survived the meal was definitely not a rat…

Yes, that's what we'll do.

The next day, Chu Ming leisurely arrived at the base and happened to see Vodka, Bourbon, Vermouth, and Chianti Cohen, who had arrived at some unknown time, sitting leisurely at the side bar in the lobby, drinking and chatting early in the morning. This made Chu Ming feel even more resentful.

What's going on? The heir to this prestigious organization is out there running business, while all these employees are just loafing around doing nothing?

Chu Ming slowly swayed over, his gaze lingering on the vodka closest to him. He leaned close to the vodka and whispered devilishly in its ear, "Is it good?"

He entered silently, and because he deliberately concealed his footsteps, Vodka didn't even notice that there was another person beside him.

The sudden sound startled Vodka, causing him to scream. His hand trembled, and the glass crashed onto the table, spilling the remaining liquor all over himself.

“Granbury…” Vodka frantically wiped the table, his anger barely contained, “Why, why did you suddenly speak up…”

Chu Ming turned the tables: "I was right behind you and you didn't even notice. It's clearly your lack of vigilance that's to blame, right?"

Vodka, though furious, dared not utter a word, and buried his head in wiping the table vigorously, as if trying to scrub off a layer of skin from the bar counter.

This is outrageous! This is workplace bullying! He's going to tell his boss!

Chu Ming felt much better after scaring Vodka. He casually picked up a bottle of sparkling water, dragged a stool over, and squeezed in with them: "Why are you the only ones here? Where's Gin?"

"She's upstairs organizing some documents." Vermouth swirled the red wine in her hand, smiling broadly. "I thought Sweetheart wouldn't be back at base for a while after running away yesterday~ Is she really being so well-behaved this time?"

Upon hearing this, Chu Ming's resentful gaze instantly fell upon her: "Since you're not saying anything, I've forgotten. You clearly accepted my bribe and promised to help me with the tasks, but when I opened the task list today, it hasn't been touched at all..."

Vermouth was quite frank: "Well, since the mission wasn't completed, I'm too embarrassed to keep Sweetheart's reward. I didn't touch the bombs you gave me; Gin swapped them all out. Go ask him for them."

Chu Ming gulped down a mouthful of water and said irritably, "Why should I take it? A bomb in Gin's hands is like throwing a meat bun to a dog—cough cough—"

As he spoke, Chu Ming sensed something was amiss and instinctively turned to look towards the stairs, fearing that Gin might suddenly appear. He quickly swallowed his words back.

Vermouth held back her laughter for a long time before finally suppressing it: "That's not necessarily true. You're the heir now, do you think Gin would dare disobey you?"

Upon hearing this, Chu Ming felt like wiping away a bitter tear. So what if he's the heir? It doesn't stop Gin from beating him up...

"Why not? I'm not saying this outright, but everyone in the organization knows Gin is mean and petty. It's only because he pulls out his gun so easily that no one dares to say anything. Besides, we all know how many threats Gin made before, saying he would hunt down Sherry, but now that he's caught her, he's not killing her..." Hearing no movement from the stairs, Chu Ming grew bolder, not mentioning at all that he had asked Gin not to kill Sherry, and he just made up rumors on the spot.

"Maybe... he was the one who let Sherry go back then. Gin really is the biggest rat in the organization! How can the boss let a rat have such a high position! He should be the driver!"

After listening to Chu Ming's emotionally charged words, everyone fell silent, except for Vodka, who was filled with righteous indignation: "How is that possible? Big Brother could never be an undercover agent!"

Chu Ming clapped his hands: "See, even Vodka didn't refute the first half of the statement, which means that in his heart, Gin is also this kind of person. Tsk tsk, Vodka, I never thought you were so tolerant and forbearing..."

Vodka: "..."

This is slander!!! Slander!!! Is there anyone who will defend me?! o(╥﹏╥)o
