HP: White Lord of Slytherin

Chapter 82 A Quiet and Beautiful Birthday

In mid-July, Draco went to Germany with his parents and came back in about a week, just in time for Gloria's birthday. She didn't like going out and decided to stay in the manor.

These days I've been running around in the forest with Newt, recording the habits of various creatures, and preparing to compile them into a book as a new version of "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them".

I exchanged letters with Harry and others several times in July, and recently I have received replies from everyone.

Dear Gloria,

Are you doing well in the manor? My mother's sister who settled in France is getting married. In addition to the wedding banquet, we will also take a vacation there. I plan to choose a gift for you in France.

Also, I plan to buy a pet when school starts this year. I’m not considering a toad because I’ve touched Neville’s Riffle and it felt disgusting, so I plan to choose a cat or an owl. Why don’t you give me some advice?

— With regards, Hermione

Dear Gloria,

You won't believe this, but my dad won the annual gold Galleon jackpot of the Daily Prophet! A full 700 gold Galleons. We were so happy that Mom and Dad decided to go to Egypt to visit Bill and spend a month there!

Last year, Mom was very angry because of the car incident, but she said she would buy me a new wand for the new school year. However, with your free wand exchange coupon, Mom decided to spend more money to buy two new school uniforms in larger sizes. Thank you so much.

This year's gift for you is funded by your mother. I hope you will like it.

——Ron

Dear Gloria,

How have you been recently? Fortunately, you wrote to me on the first day of summer vacation and told me about the signing form for Hogsmeade. I didn't use the Confusion Charm, and the vacation was as boring as before.

It's great that your owl delivered the mail at night. Uncle Vernon never noticed it. And thank you for the canned food you gave Hedwig. She loved it.

—Harry

She didn't expect Neville to write to her, and since there was no Slytherin owl to deliver the letters, his letter was sent together with Ron's letter.

Dear Gloria,

Thank you very much for the spell you sent me last time. I successfully cast the spell several times. Mom and Dad held my hand. They only gave me candy wrappers before, but now they gave me candy. I was really excited at that time.

The aunt in charge of my parents at St. Mungo's said that they wailed less at night, which was a significant improvement. I only wish I could perform the spell a few more times to relieve their suffering.

I haven’t dared to tell my grandmother about this yet. I decided to wait until my parents’ condition gets better before telling them.

Ron wrote to me and said that your birthday is the 25th of this month. I hope you will like the gift I give you then. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to you again!

——Neville

Gloria was moved when she saw Neville's letter. Even though his parents had gone crazy, they were often tortured by the residual magic of the Cruciatus Curse over the years. Their hair turned gray after just a few years of hospitalization. Since she could help this couple, it was a good thing.

Finally, there was a letter from the Tonks family. In the letter, Tonks said how interesting the training in the Ministry of Magic was, and it was a pity that she could not participate in more challenging tasks.

Speaking of the list for Hogsmeade village, Minister Fudge originally said that he would sign it soon, but the day after the banquet, he went to the Ministries of Magic of various European countries for friendly exchanges. However, he wrote a letter to promise that it would be completed before the summer vacation.

In fact, Fudge could have assigned an employee to go there, but he didn't want to miss the opportunity to make friends with Miss Slytherin.

July 25th, Slytherin Manor.

Gloria went downstairs wearing a light yellow satin dress. When she arrived at the hall, she saw a lot of gifts piled on the carpet.

Draco, who was reading a newspaper, immediately stood up and walked over to her when he saw her. He put his arms around her, held the back of her head, and kissed her soft lips. He pecked her like a woodpecker for a long time before letting go.

"Mr. Newt has left the gift there and is going to come back to say happy birthday to you. As for father and mother, they are going to attend Minister Fudge's banquet. There are also many families who want to give you birthday gifts. If you are willing to accept them, they will pass them on. Mother will make arrangements for giving them gifts on future festivals."

"The minister is finally back." Gloria was worried whether she could get the signed form before the end of summer vacation. "If it's a gift, accept it."

When someone extends a hand to express friendliness, you can't just slap them away.

Gloria first found the gift from Tonks, and when she opened it, she discovered it was a tap-dancing doll that looked like Tonks. Its hair could also change color, although there were only three colors, and it would bow after dancing.

Most of the gifts from friends were related to study or toys, while the gifts from Lucius and Narcissa were more expensive, such as jewel brooches and diamond bracelets.

Andromeda gave a dozen hand-woven headbands inlaid with beautiful gemstones, each of which was perfect for her hair color. There were also several photos of her father in the gift package. She secretly took some photos of her family with her when she left home.

Gloria liked every gift, but she couldn't find Draco's gift, so she turned around and asked, "Where's my birthday present?"

Draco said nothing, put his arm around her waist, and said, "Let's dance first."

He took Gloria to dance in the hall, and they danced together, leaning against each other.

The duet ended and the girl stared at him, "Gift."

Draco moved his right hand to her delicate neck, and with his left hand he parted her thick light blonde hair. Gloria touched it and felt a necklace.

"I saw this necklace in Germany and thought it would suit you."

Gloria looked down and saw a sunflower carved from yellow diamond. The petals spread out like dazzling sunlight. She stroked them with her fingertips and looked up at the young man whose eyes were fixed on her. His smile was as bright as a sunflower.

"It's very beautiful. This gift is my favorite." Gloria touched the necklace and couldn't let it go. She said, "It just so happens that I have something for you to do."

Draco was curious, "What?"

Gloria took out a ring. The silver band was wrapped with three snakes of gold, white and black. The edge of the large green gem was bitten by three snakes. "This is the Slytherin family ring, just like your family heirloom ring. Please help me put it on."

Draco took the ring and looked it over carefully, "It's my pleasure."

The ring was slowly put on Gloria's right ring finger. Draco stared at her lips, his heartbeat quickened, and he slowly approached...

"I'm so sorry--" Newt, with mud still on his clothes, stood awkwardly at the door of the hall, neither looking up nor looking down, holding a swollen-necked beast cub in his arms, the four-legged creature with a neck thicker than its body humming.

For a moment, the hazy and beautiful atmosphere shattered like a dream when waking up.

Draco let go of her hand, and Gloria stood firm and faced Newt. The two people who had just started dating were a little shy.

"I... was afraid that the gift I prepared wasn't good enough, so I wanted to show you my new discovery about the swollen-necked beast." Although he was an adult, Newt was like a child who had done something wrong.

Gloria quickly adjusted her mindset and asked, "What new discovery?"

Newt suddenly became confident and rubbed the back of the swollen-necked beast cub's neck. The cub immediately raised its head and spit out a bunch of blue bubbles. "These bubbles are very light and condense instantly when they enter the air. They are harmless to humans. They are beautiful, aren't they?"

The colors of the bubbles are dreamy and they fall on the carpet without breaking, like light snowflakes.

"Happy birthday, Gloria. Being in Slytherin House has been one of the best experiences I've had in years."

Newt has lived here for more than half a month. He is full of energy every day and seems to have unlimited energy.

Gloria led Draco to his side and rubbed the back of the swollen-necked beast cub's neck together. "I'm glad you like it here. You're welcome to live here for a long time. I also hope that wizards outside can learn about those beautiful creatures."

When the new edition of "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" is published, people will have a deeper understanding of the mystery and power of Slytherin Manor.
