HP: White Lord of Slytherin
Chapter 400 Another Kind of Life (1)
Ever since the Parseltongue ability was revealed, the people in Slytherin House have been following Yvette and Tom.
The pure-blood families from the so-called Twenty-Eight Sacred Clans did not dare to have a head-on conflict with them.
Life at Hogwarts was stable, but there was a war in the Muggle world outside. A few days after their third year started, London was bombed by German warplanes.
The unrest continued until May of the following year. London was in ruins and the Wood Orphanage where Tom had lived had been bombed.
He and Yvette came to Slytherin Manor, and Tom had a concrete understanding of the prominence of Yvette's family.
He made a silent decision in his heart to change his surname after graduation and inherit the Gaunt surname, so that this family of descendants of Slytherin and Peverell would become stronger and more glorious again.
After Tom learned about his blood relatives, he always wanted to kill them, especially old Riddle, but Yvette kept a close eye on him.
It wasn't until his sixth year that he saw information about Horcruxes in the restricted area of the library.
Tom used to think wizards were powerful, but soon thought of his mother, a witch, who died so fragile.
He fears death.
Several library rooms in Slytherin Manor were opened to him, and Tom was carefully searching for records about Horcruxes.
When he found it, Yvette appeared beside him.
"Interested in Horcruxes?"
"I want to live forever." Tom never concealed his ambition to this girl whom he had known since childhood, although she always blocked him in some ways.
"why?"
"Vivian, I want to live long enough to make everyone afraid when they hear my name."
Yvette remembered that he had given himself another name, Voldemort.
She clearly expressed her disgust, feeling that the name implied Tom's fear.
"Tom, don't be afraid of death." Yvette said, "There is no such thing as eternal life. A handful of fierce fire can burn a Horcrux clean, and Basilisk can also destroy a Horcrux. Even if the Horcrux is hidden well, time in this world is the most ruthless. Perhaps a Horcrux preserved by magic can exist for thousands of years, but it will never last forever. No magic can last forever."
"No, as long as the Horcrux is immortal, the soul will not be destroyed." This was the first time Tom discussed his views on death with her.
This was the topic he had always avoided discussing with Yvette.
"Horcruxes only make you live longer, just like Nicolas Flamel's Philosopher's Stone, which prolongs life but does not make you immortal." Yvette pointed to the book and said, "You will understand if you read the next page."
Tom turned the page doubtfully.
It clearly records how Hercule made the Horcrux, how many years he lived before he discovered the problem, and most importantly, once the Horcrux was destroyed, the shattered soul could not go to the world of the dead, and would be forever lost in pain in the zone between death and the undead.
Yvette whispered, "The scouring of the waves and the grinding of the soil will eventually consume all the magic power. The Horcrux will eventually disappear and break on its own. It just takes a long enough time."
Tom closed the book with a pale face.
"And if you want to restore your soul, you have to sincerely repent." Yvette ruffled his black hair. "You won't regret it, Tom, so it's best not to do this in the first place."
"What is the world of the dead?" The Horcrux method seemed unreliable, and Tom couldn't make a decision for a moment.
"Another form of the world, my ancestors said it's very interesting." Yvette pointed at his ring, "An ancestor of my family once used this resurrection stone, but ghosts can't, and can't clearly let the living know what the world of the dead is like."
Tom stared at her quietly. "Aren't you worried about death?"
"Why should I worry? I will get tired of this world eventually. After I die, I will go to another world to continue my adventures." Yvette mentioned the world of the dead with a hint of anticipation on her face. "But before that, I will try to live as long as possible."
·
Dumbledore had been paying attention to Tom since he started school.
During the years at Hogwarts, Tom had completely lost the coldness he had when he first met him in the orphanage. Instead, he became gentle and smart. Many professors liked him, especially Headmaster Pettit.
But Dumbledore knew very well that Tom had a very violent temper when he was young.
After watching for a few years, I found that Yvette had been suppressing Tom's excessive behavior.
Unlike Tom, Yvette looked indifferent, but was actively curious about many things, and could even chat with Gryffindor's 'weirdo' Hagrid.
Dumbledore's vigilance reached its peak when he discovered that Tom had read the banned book about Horcruxes.
But after one summer vacation, Tom seemed to have lost interest in Horcruxes.
When the two graduated, Dumbledore realized that Yvette would still be able to suppress Tom and had the ability to do so.
Tom wanted to start a career to rule Muggles, but was defeated by Yvette with just a look, so he followed her to build a power network.
To Tom, although Yvette is a kind person, she is sometimes too "kind".
She doesn't kill people, but she can make them suffer extreme pain without dying.
Even when it comes to love, he studies it with extreme devotion.
A few years after graduation, Tom began to pursue Yvette. Although he was a half-blood and did not meet the Slytherin family's standards for choosing a partner, he would not give up and would drive away every competitor.
Twenty-four-year-old Tom, now called Tom Gaunt, is handsome and charming, and is the object of admiration of many witches.
Even though Morfin Gaunt made a big fuss about his mixed-race identity, it did not affect many people's appreciation of him.
"Vivian, we are both of Slytherin blood, and no one is more suitable for you than me." Tom had guessed Yvette's real surname, but only by becoming her partner could he truly enter the portrait room in the castle.
"Tom, you are a mixed-blood." Yvette walked to the office, looking at the Daily Prophet in her hand, "But you are indeed very good. I will ask the portraits of my ancestors, but it is unlikely that they will agree."
"I am willing to duel with any wizard who covets you." Tom's words were filled with murderous intent.
Yvette's granddaughter will become a person who changes the magical world, so such a person must also be his descendant.
Although he cannot achieve true immortality, the name Tom Gaunt should be immortal in the wizarding world.
·
Thirty-year-old Tom becomes Yvette's partner and learns her real last name, Yvette Slytherin.
He didn't know whether he loved Yvette, but he had an unimaginable possessiveness towards her.
There is still a lot of time to find the answer.
In 1960, their daughter Aurora Slytherin was born.
In 1963, the youngest son Ulysses Gaunt was born.
Tom brought the Gaunt family back to prominence, making it one of the most famous wizarding families in Britain and even Europe.
After that, Aurora and the youngest son of the Black family, Regulus Black, fell in love with each other.
Because of the re-opening of the Triwizard Tournament, Ulysses fell in love with a girl from Beauxbatons School of Magic.
Tom always felt angry when he saw Regulus, but Regulus did not retreat at all under his terrifying gaze.
Somehow, he and Yvette had a daughter who was too gentle.
Aurora and Regulus fell in love almost at first sight. They got engaged before graduation and got married immediately after graduation.
On July 1980, 7, Gloria Slytherin, the true glory of the Slytherin family, came into this world.
Tom couldn't describe the feeling he had when he held her for the first time.
He had a vague intuition telling him that if he wasn't Gloria's grandfather, they would be mortal enemies.
·
at night--
Tom hugged Yvette. The moonlight shone into the bedroom through the window. He opened his eyes and looked straight at the ceiling.
A hand touched his face, and Yvette asked vaguely, "What's wrong?"
"Nothing, just a dream."
A dream that fully blossomed with ambition, but left one with an inexplicable sense of emptiness after waking up.
Tom hugged Yvette tightly. After all these years, he did not regret having the life he had now, even though he had not realized all the ambitions he had when he was young.
Just like him in the dream, he has no regrets.
