This girl is a streetwalker in the demon world
Chapter 288 There's a Ghost in the Corner
"Ah! Cough cough cough..."
In the dim room, an old man who was as thin as a dried man lay on his back on the bed. Phlegm suddenly rose in his throat, and he couldn't cough it out. He almost suffocated because of his own phlegm.
Hearing that the old man's voice was not right, the old man's son hurried over with a copper basin filled with hot water. Seeing that his old father had begun to roll his eyes, he quickly helped the old man up and brought him a spittoon.
After some movements, the old man finally recovered his breath, but when he opened his cloudy eyes, the first thing he said to his son who came to serve him was: "You just want me to die, right? When I die, you can divide my property!"
"Dad, you know I won't let you die," said the son.
The old man stared. He could not see his son's face clearly due to cataracts. His health was also very poor, but his mind was still clear. He almost couldn't breathe when he heard his son's words. He slapped the soft bed with his weak hands and shouted angrily with all his strength: "Then let me die!"
"Dad," the son sighed, "don't think too much. I will cure you even if I have to spend all my wealth."
The son left in a hurry again. Before leaving, he asked the servants in the house to keep a close eye on the old man and not let anything happen to him.
The old man opened his eyes. He wanted to see the world again, but he could only see a hazy world, as if he had been shut out of the once colorful world.
The old man couldn't stand the wind, so the doors and windows were tightly closed. Even though the sun was shining brightly outside, it couldn't shine into this dim room. The damp, dark, and dead air caused some changes in the room of this long-term sick man that were invisible to ordinary people.
Something seemed to move in the corner.
The old man was not blind and could still barely see some colored blocks. He seemed to have sensed something strange and tilted his head to look over there.
Even with his eyes, he could see a black figure squatting in the corner.
Seeing the old man looking over here, the man suddenly became excited, stood up from the ground and started dancing.
The old man opened his mouth wide and stared over there.
When the servants came over to help the old man turn over, they saw that he was already dead. After examination, they found that he had been frightened to death.
……
"Master, please help us!" Mr. Mai cried to An Ling, "My father passed away for no reason. I thought it was a good death, but I didn't expect to find this in the quilt."
Two terrified servants held up a smelly yet fragrant quilt and pushed it in front of An Ling and the other person. Li Feiling pinched his nose and took a step back. An Ling did not react, but just frowned and observed the bloodstains on the quilt.
"Look, does this look like a...ghost character?"
Just as Mr. Mai said, the bloodstain was a little blurry, but you could roughly tell what it meant.
Mr. Mai continued, "This is the inside of the quilt, probably where my father's hand is. I guess he must have secretly cut his finger and written this word in the quilt."
"I wonder if my father's death was caused by a ghost?"
An Ling and Li Feiling looked at each other and both couldn't help laughing.
Mr. Mai was surprised and asked, "What are you laughing at?"
An Ling said, "Mr. Mai, you should check whether your lies are logical or not."
"Where did the old man get the blood to write? Didn't you say he was seriously ill and bedridden? How could he have the strength to complete the actions of 'cutting his finger' and 'writing a complete blood word in the quilt'?"
An Ling crossed her arms and looked at Li Feiling suspiciously, and asked in a voice transmission: "Brother, is this the big thing you are talking about?"
Li Feiling smiled awkwardly and replied: "What the relationship between the father and son is has nothing to do with us. I came to you this time because of that ghost."
Li Feiling said to Mr. Mai: "Take us to your father's room."
"I'm so glad that you trust me, Immortal!" Mr. Mai took a few quick steps and led the two of them to the old man's room.
"Okay, this is none of your business. Go out first and leave this to us."
Mr. Mai twisted his fingers hesitantly and stood at the door looking inside. His sneaky look annoyed Li Feiling, so she pushed him away with a wave of her hand and closed the door.
"I'm sick!"
Li Feiling was a straightforward person and he didn't have the fortitude like An Ling, so he just cursed.
An Ling smiled and said to Li Feiling calmly: "Brother, there is no need to bother with others."
"I really can't stand such a person!" Li Feiling cursed, "He doesn't want his father to be well, but for some reason he is keeping him alive. Otherwise, why would a rich man like him arrange for his old father to recuperate in such a dark and damp room?"
"Everyone has his own fate. We can't control so much. We can only start from ourselves." An Ling said. After she looked around the room again with her mind's eye, she turned to Li Feiling and asked, "Brother, what's so special about this little ghost?"
In the corner of the room, there was an empty corner without any furniture. There was a thick layer of dust in the corner, and it was obvious that no one had cleaned it for a long time. In this corner, there was a ghost squatting that ordinary people could not see.
An Ling had already captured the ghost the moment the two men walked in. For them, catching ghosts and exorcising demons was just a matter of a breath. An Ling held the little ghost that scared the old man to death in the air, looked left and right, but couldn't see anything special about it.
"An Ling, why do you think there are ghosts here?"
"In a dark environment where there has been no people for a long time, ghosts will naturally appear. It's just that..."
"I've been exorcising demons in the mountains for many years, but I've never encountered ghosts as often as I do now," Li Feiling said, "and the appearance is different. This ghost is completely black, unlike the white wandering ghosts we usually see."
An Ling exclaimed, Li Feiling's angle was quite fresh.
When she first learned how to see ghosts, the first thing she did was to find out whether there really were such things as ghosts in the world (Chapter 10). Yes, there were, but not as many as in the stories, and most of those ghosts were wandering souls who had just died, floating in the air like jellyfish.
Later, An Ling never saw any wandering souls again. Come to think of it, since human souls can improve cultivation, how could there be so many ownerless ghosts wandering in the world? Maybe they were taken away by the underworld or captured and eaten by monks!
But An Ling had never seen such a black ghost. Instead, it looked more like a monster like a shadow demon, but it was indeed a ghost.
Li Feiling took out a gourd from his waist and took the ghost away. In front of An Ling's surprised eyes, Li Feiling touched his nose. Anyway, An Ling knew what the "cultivation pill" was, so he didn't hide it anymore. Instead, he said openly: "I will take it back to make pills. Whether you believe it or not, we have never killed anyone with our own hands. We specialize in finding wandering souls and evil cultivators on the battlefield to make pills."
An Ling turned her head away and said, "I know you are not that kind of people, otherwise this world would be full of evil cultivators."
Li Feiling sighed, "You're right. If it's wrong, it's wrong. No matter how many excuses you find, it's all in vain. Forget it. An Ling, have you read "Record of the Dark Fire of Karma"? This book says that ghosts in the living world are a ball of white fog, while ghosts in the underworld are pitch black. Evil ghosts who kill out of hatred can still retain their original form and wear red clothes. They are fierce ghosts."
An Ling nodded and said, "Yes, it is said that the author of this book, Upadaha from Rulu Temple, had personally been to hell. The scenes of hell he described are the most representative of the reality among all similar books."
"I am more curious about the woman in the book," Li Feiling sighed, "What happened to her? Who did she want to take revenge on? Did she succeed in the end? What is the relationship between the Venerable Upadaha and her?"
"So, this ghost might have come from hell?" An Ling said.
Li Feiling replied: "This is exactly why I asked you to come."
An Ling said quietly, "After the Futian Army's thousands of ghosts knocked on the door and General Hu led the ghost skeleton back to the world of the living, the Yin-Yang Gate hidden deep in the sea was not closed."
