Unknown Knight

Chapter 191 The Earl Changes Horses

Count Rogers's combat awareness was still very high. Before he stood up, his hand had already grasped the heavy half-handed sword.

When he staggered to his feet and used his shadowy eyes to look for Bestul, the arm holding the sword shook, followed by a sharp pain.

Seeing Count Rogers fall, Bestur turned around and threw an armor-piercing arrow, which shot the arm holding the sword. Although he was wearing arm armor on his arm, he was pierced by the tip of the armor-piercing arrow. The severe pain might have damaged the bones.

Count Rogers did not drop the heavy half-handed sword in his hand, but grasped the hilt with his left hand, changing from one-handed to dual-wielding, and looked in the direction of Bestur vigilantly.

Bestur spurred his horse back and drew his bow at the same time. Two arrows shot out in succession, one hitting the knee and the other hitting the lower abdomen, both of which were blind spots that Count Rogers could hardly block with his sword.

Count Rogers was in so much pain that he could not stand steadily and half-knelt on the ground. When he saw Bestur riding towards him, he tried to chop the horse with his sword.

But how could Bestul let him have his wish? He avoided the distance between the two of them and turned around to shoot another arrow, which hit Count Rogers in the shoulder. The pain was so unbearable that he dropped the heavy half-handed sword in his hand.

Bestur pulled the reins of his horse, rode over slowly and said:

"Count Rogers, in order to preserve your dignity, I advise you to respect yourself and surrender obediently, so as not to endanger your own life."

Count Rogers thought that he was careless. He never thought that he, a full-level Sanction Knight and a fighting champion who had never lost in the training ground, would be defeated by a light cavalryman.

Feeling very unwilling, he pretended to pick up the heavy half-handed sword and threw it aside, then put his hands behind his back. While doing this seemingly natural movement, his right hand passed by his waist and silently took out a dagger from his waist.

He himself was a great nobleman, and also came from a prominent family with many famous ancestors. With the influence of his ancestors, he passed all the assessments of the Knight of Sanction with excellent results at a young age, becoming a glorious Knight of Sanction. He also made great achievements in the kingdom's foreign wars many times, and gained a high reputation with his strength.

These identities and honors, even if they were his halo, were also his shackles, which prevented him from losing today and made him unable to afford to lose. So he decided to betray his honor and fight to the death without outsiders seeing.

But how could he, who had already become the prey, escape from the clutches of the old hunter Bestur? With his sharp eyes, he had already noticed the little movements of Count Rogers. Not only that, his sensitive hunter ears also heard the subtle sound of metal friction.

Bestur was seen driving his horse slowly to a position more than two meters in front of Count Rogers. This distance was neither too close nor too far, which made Count Rogers feel that he could succeed in one strike, and also gave him enough time to respond as he had been prepared in advance.

Count Rogers really risked his life to rush over, trying to deal a fatal blow to Bestur with the dagger in his hand.

But how could Bestur, who was well prepared, let him succeed? When he just started, he squeezed the horse's belly, and the horse under his crotch, which was one with him, suddenly kicked its hind legs hard, quickly bent its knees and raised its front hooves one meter high, then jumped forward at lightning speed and hit Count Rogers in the chest as he was leaning over.

There was a dull thud, and Count Rogers flew backwards more than three meters like a cloth bag with its neck pulled by someone. After landing, his momentum continued to increase, and he rolled backwards and sideways three times at a depth of 1,080 degrees before he stopped.

The severe pain in his chest made Count Rogers cover his chest tightly with both hands. He forced himself to half straighten his body, and after spitting out a large mouthful of blood with a "wow" sound, he fell straight to the ground and fainted.

Bestur shook his head contemptuously and said sarcastically:

"Tsk, I told you to respect yourself, but people won't cry until they see the noose."

After saying this, he jumped off his horse, and without caring whether Earl Rogers was still conscious or not, he pulled out the two armor-piercing arrows that were still usable from his body.

Then he gave Count Rogers a princess hug, picked him up and put him in front of the saddle, mounted the horse and started back.

The knights of punishment and their attendants were not worried when they saw the two men charging towards the forest path on horseback. In their eyes, with such an advantageous configuration of their lords, they could easily pin the overconfident Kugit man to the ground with at most two javelins.

But not long after, the sharp-eyed people discovered that Bestul came back from behind the opposite carriage with a person on the horse's back. Upon closer inspection, who else could it be but Count Rogers?

The knights untied their guns and drew their swords, and were about to rush over, but Bestur grabbed Earl Rogers by the hair, put his scimitar on his neck and said:

"If you take another step forward, I will cut off your Lord Earl's head."

Bestur's words were met with shouts of "How dare you!" "You're looking for death!" "How dare you!" from the other side, but it also stopped their horses and made them dare not move forward even a single step.

One of the most senior knights of punishment stepped forward one horse length, and said with all the dignity he had accumulated over the years:

"Listen, people on the other side. This is the heartland of the Kingdom of Swadia. Since the outcome has been decided, I advise you to release Count Rogers. We can easily negotiate the ransom."

"Ransom? I don't need it. I am a grassland man and I only like horses. As long as you give me all the horses as ransom, I will release your earl. Otherwise, you can just wait to collect his body."

Bestur spoke to the Sanction Knight on the opposite side without any discussion.

The veteran on the other side was obviously not ready to give in so easily, and bargained with Bestur:

"Horses are the other half of a knight's life. As long as you don't want our horses, the ransom is easy to negotiate. Just name a number. Although the Harungos family has fallen on hard times, they can still afford a few thousand silver coins."

Bestur did not discuss the ransom with him, but said slowly:

"You can waste your words here. Your lord has been shot by several arrows and is bleeding. If he dies due to delayed treatment, I will not be responsible. I say again, I don't want anything except your horses."

Bestul's words made the other side stop talking immediately. After some negotiations, they had to leave the horses behind and retreat a hundred steps as Bestul requested. Bestul and James went forward and led a total of twelve horses over.

Everyone abandoned the carriage, put the luggage and supplies on the horses, stripped off the vests of all the heavy cavalry, and added the two draft horses that pulled the carriage, a total of fifteen horses.

Seven people rode on seven good horses. Little Tata and Velen shared one horse, and the rest each led one horse. Bestul led two horses, and they took a detour through the side path.

Only the unconscious Count Rogers was left on the ground, and it was unknown whether he was dead or alive. When a dozen people over a hundred meters away ran over, Axe and his party had already ridden away.
