Bai Zhi murmured, "It's already like this, and we still have to worship the Buddha."

"That's why we have to worship the Buddha. If there was no other way, these people wouldn't have come all the way here to burn incense."

"They put all their hopes on the Buddha. If the Buddha doesn't work, what will they do?"

"Isn't there a saying that if you are sincere, your heart will be effective. There is no Bodhisattva that won't work, only if your heart is not sincere." Qiao Wanwan glanced at Bai Zhi, "You don't seem to believe in these things. When it comes to Buddha and Bodhisattva, you can't control your words."

"I can't say I don't believe it." Bai Zhi lowered the carriage curtain and asked, "Have you ever asked a divination?"

Qiao Wanwan: "Well... when I was 15 years old, my father asked a fortune teller to calculate my horoscope, and he said that I would have a stable and smooth life."

"Then if Mr. Ruo says that you are a floating duckweed in the wind and rain, can you just accept it?"

“I can’t…right.”

"That's it." Bai Zhi said, "If you ask for a good fate, you may become lazy and lose all your luck. If you ask for a bad fate, you may strive to rise and finally escape from the sea of suffering. Instead of asking the heavens, the earth, or the Bodhisattva, it is better to ask yourself first."

Qiao Wanwan was shocked and said, "Will my good fortune be ruined if I divorce you?"

Bai Zhi: "...That's not what I meant."

"Yes, yes, you mentioned this." Qiao Wanwan's face suddenly lit up and she smiled, "I talked to Gu Shou about the divorce last night. Guess what happened?"

Bai Zhi felt relieved and smiled, "Looking at you like this, he must have agreed. What conditions did he set?"

"According to his idea, as long as I return the betrothal gifts, we will be even. All that's left is for the old lady to nod her head, and then we can sign the divorce agreement. I'm telling you, luckily my father and eldest brother were guarding the border at the time and couldn't make it here, so the betrothal gifts are all in my hands. Otherwise, I really wouldn't be able to take out so much money." Qiao Wanwan looked very relaxed. "The old lady is easy to deal with. Fortunately, I have that grass you brought me yesterday. I'll use it to threaten the old lady. I don't think she will nod her head."

"It's a good thing you're not the Marquis' wife, otherwise you'd never get a divorce in this life." Bai Zhi asked, "What's your reason for getting a divorce?"

Qiao Wanwan said, "I said that I have been married for more than a year and have no children. I am afraid that I can't have children. I feel ashamed. If I hadn't said that, he might not have agreed."

"You are quite smart. With this explanation, it will be easy to convince the old lady." Bai Zhi took Qiao Wanwan's hand and said seriously, "Congratulations on finally getting out of the sea of suffering."

Qiao Wanwan's nose felt a little sour, and she rubbed her eyes and joked, "Okay, don't say it as if we're saying goodbye forever. I'll write to you when I get home, so don't forget me."

Bai Zhi smiled and said, "Don't worry."

Dajue Temple was built on the top of a mountain. After the carriage entered the mountain, it changed from a gravel road to a muddy winding mountain road. It went around more than a dozen circles before finally reaching the top of the mountain. Bai Zhi was now much stronger than before, and she was very lucky not to feel dizzy at all. Qiao Wanwan was groggy and had to rely on her maid to support her all the way to the temple gate.

Old Madam Gu led the way into the Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva Hall. Sitting on the lotus throne was a golden and solemn Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva statue, more than three people tall. One had to look up hard to see the face of the Bodhisattva, who treated all living beings equally and had no sorrow or joy.

Qiao Wanwan whispered to Bai Zhi, “This is the golden statue of the Bodhisattva that I was busy with a while ago.”

Bai Zhi took a breath and said, "How much gold does this cost?"

The abbot and several amiable elders were already waiting in the hall. They came forward and bowed deeply: "Amitabha, Madam Gaoming has given me a golden body and a kind heart. I am sure you will make many good connections with me."

Madam Gu was a frequent visitor to Dajue Temple, chatting with the abbot in a Zen language that Bai Zhi could not understand. Qiao Wanwan said softly, "Since you are here, when you burn incense and kowtow, you can also ask the Buddha for something, maybe it will work."

Bai Zhi didn't take it seriously and said casually, "Then I wish for peace in the world, and for the people to live and work in peace without disease or disaster."

Qiao Wanwan: "...You want to tire the Buddha to death? You should try something easier to achieve."

The abbot handed Madam Gu three tall incense sticks that were as tall as a person. The young monk serving at the side also handed three incense sticks to Bai Zhi and Qiao Wanwan respectively. The incense sticks were slightly smaller than the ones in Madam Gu's hand, but they were still quite heavy in her hands.

After lighting the incense, Bai Zhi imitated Qiao Wanwan, holding the incense sticks and bowing three times to each side, inserting them into the incense burner in front of the Bodhisattva, and then kneeling on the mat with her hands clasped together. According to Qiao Wanwan, it was time to make a wish to the Bodhisattva and then kowtow three times devoutly.

Bai Zhi raised her head and looked into the Bodhisattva statue for a moment. In the end, she did not pray silently in her heart, but bowed down without any distracting thoughts.

Whatever I want, I will reach out for myself.

After everything was done, the abbot brought out an ancient-looking lottery holder and asked Mrs. Gu to draw a lottery. Mrs. Gu seemed to attach great importance to the lottery, and immediately chanted "Amitabha" several times, asked the young monk to bring a basin of water to wash his hands, and then tremblingly drew a wooden stick and looked at it nervously.

The next moment, Madam Gu seemed to be struck by lightning. Her body went limp and she collapsed onto the mat, and the wooden stick in her hand fell to the ground.

Qiao Wanwan picked up the stick, and Bai Zhi also turned her head to take a closer look. On the stick was a short poem: The sparrow went into the trap, stealing the phoenix's feathers, the phoenix broke through the trap and flew away, setting the sparrow tower on fire.

"This, this is a bad sign no matter how you look at it." Qiao Wanwan whispered to Bai Zhi, and then handed the wooden stick back to Madam Gu. Madam Gu looked dazed, and her hands were so weak that she couldn't hold it at all. In the end, the abbot took it and said, "Let me take a look."

It was indeed a bad omen, Bai Zhi thought, the Marquis' Mansion was about to be finished.

The abbot was visibly getting more worried the more he read the fortune sticks. Madam Gu suddenly sat up on her knees and asked in a trembling voice, "Master, what do we mean by this fortune stick?"

"Madam Gaoming, this fortune-telling says the words cause and effect." The abbot chanted a Buddhist name and sighed, "Cause and effect are coming, and the momentum is unstoppable. In my opinion, there is no solution, and there is no way to break it."

Madam Gu was completely paralyzed this time.

After returning home, Bai Zhi immediately took Qiao Wanwan to find Madam Gu to sign the divorce agreement. Madam Gu seemed to have been greatly shocked and seemed to be in a trance. Bai Zhi coaxed the old lady into putting her fingerprints on the divorce agreement, and the divorce agreement was signed very smoothly.

That night, Bai Zhi urged Qiao Wanwan to pack all her luggage. She also used Chef Xu's connections to hire two skilled and reliable guards for Qiao Wanwan, and asked them to drive the carriage to escort her all the way.

Bai Zhi sent Qiao Wanwan out of the city. Qiao Wanwan had already changed into a cloth dress and hairpin skirt. She hadn't quite recovered yet and asked, "Is it really that urgent?"
