On the day the final exam results were announced, an atmosphere of excitement and trepidation permeated the campus. Sunlight streamed through the classroom windows, casting dappled shadows on the desks, adding a touch of ritual to this special day.

Their faces were full of worry, their eyes filled with disappointment and frustration. They packed their things silently, their movements somewhat slow, as if they were running away from the upcoming vacation. For them, this summer vacation might be shrouded in the shadow of their grades, becoming a time for reflection and effort.

Zhan Mengyan sat quietly in her seat, holding her report card. A faint disappointment lingered in her eyes, and a thin cloud hung over her heart. Her grades were in the middle of the class, not up to her expectations. She had originally longed for good grades and hoped to achieve excellent results through her hard work this semester, but reality had given her a small blow. The laughter and joy around her seemed to be separated from her by an invisible barrier. Firstly, a new cannery had opened near the school and was hiring part-time workers. Zhan Mengyan wanted to pay off her debts at the photo studio as soon as possible, and also earn some pocket money to ease her family's burden. She also wanted to gain social experience and become more independent and self-reliant. Therefore, she planned to work two jobs. Staying at school longer would make it easier to apply for a job at the cannery and start her part-time work. She could almost see herself busy at the cannery—a step in her growth, a prelude to a transformation.

On the other hand, Zhan Mengyan thought of Zhan Zixun and Zhang Xincheng preparing for the college entrance examination. With the exam date approaching, she wanted to wait for her two brothers to finish the exam and go home with them. She hoped to give her brothers some companionship and support during this tense preparation period. She imagined the smiles on her brothers' faces after the exam and sharing their relief and joy with them. Her heart was full of anticipation.
