Meng Yan's Transformation

Chapter 127: Election Speech

The class meeting of Class One, Year One ended successfully. Zhan Mengyan was only two votes short of passing the unanimous vote, but she also had the most votes, so she was elected as the class monitor of Class One, Year One.

Lu Zhigang failed to be elected as the sports committee member as he wished, and his votes did not exceed half of the class. Lu Zhigang looked indifferent on the surface, but he was very dissatisfied in his heart. However, he had raised his hand to show his approval of the selection method proposed by Zhan Mengyan, and he also stood on the podium to help hold the ballot box and supervise the whole process. No matter how dissatisfied he was, he could not get angry again.

"Now, please invite the newly elected class leaders of our class to give their speeches. The first speaker is our new monitor, Zhan Mengyan. Classmates, please give her a round of applause to welcome her!" said the head teacher Zhao Jinglei.

The classmates all applauded enthusiastically, except Lu Zhigang and Yan Cunfeng, who clapped slowly and weakly.

Zhan Mengyan walked up to the podium again amid applause and gave a speech on being elected class monitor:

Hello, teachers and students!

Today I am very lucky to stand here, as the newly elected monitor, and I would like to thank the teachers and classmates for their trust. I was elected as the monitor of our first grade class without unanimous votes, which shows that I still have the trust and support of some classmates. It also shows that I still have shortcomings and I need to work hard in the future.

Each class is supported by students and teachers. The class leader is a position that everyone has longed for, dreamed of, and longed for. As a good class leader, you must care about your classmates, love the collective, be selfless, helpful, persuasive, and appealing. Only in this way can we maintain a good order in our class.

The monitor is a role model for the students, and I will set a good example for the students with my own thoughts and abilities, talents and enthusiasm. Although I am usually timid, I still have the courage to manage the class order and serve everyone. Moreover, I hope that this time I am elected as the monitor, I can get a chance to exercise and let my bad habit of timidity fly away. Let my own ability be improved. I will do my best to help teachers and classmates, overcome difficulties, and go through ups and downs, and be a capable assistant to the teacher.

To be a good monitor, you have to care about your classmates and love the collective. When someone makes a mistake, I will help him correct it, explain the reason to him, and make him convinced; when a classmate encounters a problem, I will do my best to help him solve the problem; as a good monitor, you have to build a bridge between the teacher and the classmates. When the classmates have something in their hearts, I will immediately convey it to the teacher and give the teacher reasonable suggestions from the classmates; when the teacher has any voice and difficulties, I will convey it to the classmates as soon as possible and share it with the classmates.

To be a good monitor, good academic performance is one of the prerequisites. The monitor must have high scores in Chinese, mathematics, English, German, physical education, music, and art. The monitor is an all-round person who is good at both literature and science.

A horse can only be a good horse after it has traveled a thousand miles, and a person can only be a talented person after he has experienced a hundred things. I will prove my ability with my actual actions. If I am a flower, I will bloom; if I am a tree, I will grow into a pillar; if I am a stone, I will pave the road; if I am a class monitor, I will be an excellent navigator. The brilliance of a meteor comes from the friction of celestial bodies, the brilliance of a pearl comes from the tears of a shell, and the excellence of a class comes from the leadership of the class cadres and the joint efforts of all students.

The door hinge is not worm-eaten, the running water is not rotten, as the saying goes, "If a knife is not sharpened, it will rust"; if a person does not learn, he will fall behind. Everyone has his own goal, and those who work hard to achieve their goals are promising people. This time, I hope that my classmates and teachers will give me a precious opportunity, and I will give them a different surprise.

Finally, I want to tell you that the meaning of a class monitor is not to be the leader of a class, but to lead the whole class to grow together.

This is the end of my speech, thank you everyone.

The students below the podium burst into thunderous applause again. Lu Zhigang was also among the students, but he was clapping absent-mindedly, thinking about how to make the new monitor's speech today come to naught.
