As they emerged from this exit, every orc who had lived half their life on this land seemed reluctant to leave; not one of them was not heavy-hearted.

Looking back at the tribe that had once nestled under the moonlight, now destroyed, a few suppressed sobs rose softly within the ranks, quickly swallowed back down.

The most discordant voices in the group came from several females, who had never suffered such hardship. One of them, wearing a relatively intact animal skin skirt, clung tightly to a male beside her, sobbing uncontrollably and roaring roughly.

"I'm not leaving. My cave and my beads are buried inside. If you want to leave, go ahead. Maybe you'll be full after eating the tribe and won't chase us anymore."

The male beside her was sweating profusely, wanting to pull her forcefully but afraid of hurting her, so he could only coax her in a low voice.

The exhausted beastmen around them offered words of persuasion, but no one dared to rebuke them. After all, it wasn't just the females; they didn't want to leave either. They had no other choice.

Distracted by the crying, Lin Zhi turned her head and saw not far from her, the elderly Ah Xun lying on the back of a young tiger beast. The tiger beast was clearly heavy-footed and panting heavily.

Ah Xun himself was tightly clutching several large animal hide bundles filled with various herbs that he treasured. The weight of these bundles pressed down on the tiger beast beneath him. Luckily, the beast was young and strong; a slightly older one wouldn't have been able to lift it.

“Ah Xun,”

Lin Zhi raised his voice and shouted from a few steps away.

"Throw away those herbs, they're too heavy. I have enough medicine here, don't exhaust them."

Ah Xun turned around at the sound, his face full of stubbornness. He shook his head and gripped the package even tighter.

“I know your medicine is good… but these are the culmination of my hard work, collected from various seasons and mountains. Some of them are no longer available, and the healing potion is gone. I can’t lose these too.”

In Ah Xun's heart, he held Lin Zhi in high esteem. Even though he had never been with a woman in his life, Lin Zhi's unique qualities made him feel a slight fear of her. Therefore, he was afraid that Lin Zhi would disagree and force him to throw away...

Seeing the determination in his eyes, Lin Zhi swallowed back the words of persuasion that were on the tip of her tongue.

Who cares? If they get too tired, she can just find an orc to carry the medicine. She just felt that the medicine from the shop was much better than herbs, and she didn't necessarily need herbs to solve her medical problems.

I ran for a while...

Jing Xie carried Lin Zhi on his back, still moving swiftly along the winding, overgrown mountain path, but his two-legged human form was ultimately less stable than that of a four-legged tiger beast.

Lin Zhi felt herself being jostled up and down, her chest aching from being pressed against something. The dried meat she had barely managed to swallow earlier was now churning in her stomach.

She whispered in Jing Xie's ear, the wind whistling past, trying to make her voice sound as tender as possible.

"Jing Xie, hand me over to Yun Ying. Use your special skill to go ahead and scout out a place where we can spend the night, so everyone can get some rest soon."

Jing Xie rejected the idea almost without thinking, tightening his grip on her arm.

"No, we absolutely cannot be separated. Those things came about so strangely. What if some jade slipped through and came around from the side? If I'm not by your side and something happens to you, I..."

He didn't finish his sentence; yes, he simply couldn't bear the thought of Linzhi leaving him again.

Lin Zhi turned her head and glanced behind her out of the corner of her eye. In the dim light of the night, apart from the chaotic footsteps, panting, and occasional suppressed sounds of the orcish caravan, the unsettling rustling of the plants was temporarily gone.

She leaned closer to Jing Xie's ear again and spoke more bluntly.

“It’s not that I think you’re too slow, I’m just worried you’ll get tired. How about… you transform into your beast form? You’re much steadier and faster in your beast form, and I can ride on your back and prepare the medicine beforehand, just in case.”

She paused, then couldn't help but add in a low voice

"Besides, running on two legs is too bumpy, I... I feel a little nauseous."

Despite the surrounding noise, Jing Xie felt an eerie silence fall for a moment when Lin Zhi uttered those words.

It was as if all the noise of footsteps had been drowned out, leaving only the words "It's too bumpy, I feel like throwing up" echoing in my ears.

A stiffness and embarrassment flashed across his handsome face. He had always thought Lin Zhi was feeling sorry for him, but he never expected that it was his actions that made her uncomfortable.

Jing Xie remained silent, uttering not a single superfluous word. He shifted his form, his energy fluctuating slightly as he transformed into his scorpion beast form.

The next second, the sensation beneath Lin Zhi changed abruptly. The solid male back was replaced by a hard, smooth carapace, and her field of vision instantly rose. She was now lying on the back of an enormous scorpion. The dark brown carapace gleamed with a cold, hard sheen in the dim light, and the massive body moved with remarkable smoothness, making any bumps almost imperceptible.

Lin Zhi let out a long sigh of relief, finally feeling alive again. She patted the cold, hard shell beneath her, her voice light and cheerful.

"Hmm, that's much better. Thank you for your hard work, Jing Xie."

Jing Xie brandished its two pincers, clearing a path forward. There was no response, but its speed seemed to increase slightly as it steadily moved through the trees.

Finally settled, Lin Zhi lay on Jing Xie's broad scorpion back, swaying gently with the steady rhythm. She closed her eyes, concentrated, and began to call out in her mind, "Are you there? Tie Dan'er, I need your help."

The system voice sounded: "Oh, you're on your way out of town, and you still have time to summon me? What do you want?"

Linzhi thought to herself, "You're a living map, can you sense if there's a place ahead where we can settle down? Everyone's exhausted."

The system paused for about three seconds: "...Cannot find anything. The signal is intermittent. I don't know what's wrong with the network connection lately, it's extremely unstable, sometimes good and sometimes bad. But don't worry, orcs are all experts in wilderness survival. Finding temporary caves is their innate talent, I don't need to interfere too much."

Linzhi immediately changed to a more pressing question.

"Then... what exactly are those plants that attacked us? I have a feeling they're some kind of special ability, but Ji Xing and the others say they don't quite seem like it. Ah Xun even said it's the wrath of the Beast God... I've been in the Beast World for so long, and I've never actually seen anything mysterious or mystical. Could it be that the Beast God really exists?"

The system's response had an analytical tone.

"There's no such thing as a beast god. The so-called beast god is a belief and spiritual sustenance that gradually evolved in the early days of beastman civilization due to their inability to understand the forces of nature. However, the movement and attack phenomena exhibited by this plant are indeed very strange, exceeding the scope of mutation. I need more time to think about it. You should take care of the present first."
