A car accident, our family of three crossed

Chapter 102: County Magistrate Peng Desheng

"No hurries?"

There were two copies of the testimony. Hang Shuheng kept one and handed the other to the jailer.

"Please accompany me to the yamen."

"Before you leave the prison, Master Wan, please help me. Let's go."

The knife-wielding constables did not show much nervousness about Wan Baolu being held hostage, which showed that they had long been fed up with his arrogance and domineering behavior, and they were very happy to see him being taught a lesson today.

Normally, because of the support of the county magistrate, the people in the county government would not easily choose to offend the Wan family. Not offending does not mean that they are willing to work for the Wan family. Several people exchanged glances and did not raise any objections to Hang Shuheng's move.

Hang Shuheng, holding Wan Baolu hostage, had just walked out of the cell when he heard chaotic footsteps coming from the corridor of the prison. Soon a group of people in yamen runners' uniforms filed in, each holding a shining sword in their hands, and surrounded them.

“Brother-in-law, brother-in-law, save me…brother-in-law…”

Wan Baolu shouted at a middle-aged man with a mustache who was slowly walking in from outside the encirclement. His expression suddenly changed as if he had found a life-saving straw, and he threatened Hang Shuheng: "Hahaha! Mr. Hang, I advise you to be sensible and let me go, otherwise..."

Hang Shuheng's next action silenced him instantly. The dagger against his neck tightened, piercing some flesh and leaving a trail of blood.

"Master Wan is an opera singer, right? His expression changes faster than turning the pages of a book."

"Ah...what are you doing? Don't do anything rash..." Wan Baolu felt a little pain and was so frightened that he dared not move rashly, "Brother-in-law, please save me...he, he wants to kill me..."

The man with the mustache was Wan Baolu's brother-in-law, Peng Desheng, the county magistrate.

"Sir, please, sir." A jailer walked in front with his back hunched, leading the way with a flattering look on his face.

Hang Shuheng recognized that this was the jailer guarding the gate. He had a fawning face and was a complete lackey. He didn't need to think too much to understand that this was the man who went to inform Peng Desheng. It seemed that he would not be able to get away today.

Peng Desheng approached and took a look at Wan Baolu's cowardly look. He was really disappointed with him. He looked at Hang Shuheng and said, "Taking hostages and trying to escape from prison is an aggravated crime. You are a scholar, you should understand, right?"

"Your Excellency has misunderstood. I did not hold anyone hostage. It was Young Master Wan who broke into the prison and intended to use lynching. I was just helping the county magistrate to capture this lawless thief."

Hang Shuheng changed the subject and said, "May I ask, Lord County Magistrate, what is the crime for someone who breaks into the prison with the intention of committing a crime? If this gets out, people who don't know would think that Lord County Magistrate condoned his brother-in-law to commit a crime!"

Peng Desheng once again looked at the scholar in front of him. He had an upright posture and extraordinary bearing. He was not at all timid because of his disadvantage.

He didn't want to make enemies with scholars. The current Tongsheng might become a Xiucai or even a Juren in the near future. If Wan Baolu hadn't pestered him and promised him benefits, he would never have easily dealt with a scholar.

Who would have known that Wan Baolu was such a useless idiot? He had been locked up for two days but couldn't even get the secret book, and he was even caught by someone.

"The county magistrate will decide how to convict you. You are still a prisoner. Even if you catch the perpetrator, you cannot leave here." Peng Desheng threatened, "Release the man and return him to the cell. I can forgive him. Otherwise, swords have no eyes. If I hurt you, it will be bad."

Hang Shuheng sneered and asked, "Then may I ask, sir, what crime have I committed?"

"Stealing the Wan family's secret manual is a crime of theft." Peng Desheng replied with a sullen face.

"Where's the evidence? Are there any witnesses or physical evidence?"

Peng Desheng was speechless for a moment. They didn't have any evidence at all. They put him in jail just to force him to hand over the secret book. He never thought that he was such a tough nut to crack.

"When the county magistrate opens the court, we will present them one by one." This was a learned scholar in front of him. Peng Desheng knew that he was no match for him in terms of words and did not want to get entangled with him too much. "I advise you to release the man and not to implicate your family because of something you have done that is irreversible."

Hang Shuheng could tell that the other party was threatening him. He glanced at the police officers from the yamen who were watching him eagerly, and realized that it was pointless to continue the confrontation, so he happily let go of Wan Baolu and stepped back.

Wan Baolu was freed and touched his neck. Fortunately, it was still there. He looked up suddenly and saw a circle of people looking at him. Their eyes seemed to be full of ridicule, making him want to find a hole in the ground to crawl into.

He was the eldest son of the Wan family. He had money and power. In Pingyang County, he had always been the one bullying others. When had he ever suffered such a big setback? Ever since he met this Hang, everything went wrong for him. Not only was he almost besieged by the villagers in Shangtang Village, but now he was humiliated in public.

After today, his reputation as the eldest son of the Wan family will no longer exist in Pingyang County. How can he swallow this humiliation?

All of a sudden, his reason was swallowed up by anger. He suddenly snatched the weapon from the hand of a yamen runner, turned around and was about to attack Hang Shuheng, thinking that he would never fall into a disadvantage again with a long sword in his hand.

However, he overestimated himself and underestimated his opponent. When Hang Shuheng turned around to attack him, his eyes suddenly became sharp, and before he could get close, the dagger in his hand shot out like a sharp arrow.

In a flash, the dagger was close to Wan Baolu's scalp and pierced into the bun on his head.

Silence, deathly silence...

Everyone was shocked by this scene until Zhang Cuiju let out a scream of terror and then came to their senses.

"Dangdang!"

The long sword fell from his hand, and Wan Baolu sat on the ground as if all his strength had been drained, his hands trembling as he touched his head. If the shot was off by an inch, his life would be in danger. He had never felt death so close to him in his life.

Peng Desheng looked at his brother-in-law lying on the ground and felt ashamed for a moment. If it weren't for his support, he would not have dared to come out and cause trouble in such a cowardly manner.

Hang Shuheng locked himself back in the cell as if nothing had happened, as if he was not the one who had just thrown the dagger.

The old man originally watched the show with the intention of watching the fun, but after Hang Shuheng showed his skill, he looked at Hang Shuheng from head to toe with his sharp eyes, as if he had seen a rare treasure.

He asked without paying attention to the people around him: "Hey! Boy, who did you learn this knife throwing technique from?" Without years of practice, it would be impossible to throw a knife with such accuracy.

Hang Shuheng lied: "I learned it from hunting pheasants in the mountains."

The old man would not take it seriously. "Are you willing to learn flying needles? How about becoming my disciple?"

He was worried that there would be no one to carry on his skills, and now that he had met a good candidate, he naturally didn't want to miss it.

It might be a little late to study medicine and poison. Everyone knows that Xin Baizi, the Poison Master, is an expert in both medicine and poison, but few people know that he also has the unique skill of flying needles. If the young man in front of him can become his successor in flying needles, it would not be a bad idea.
