Operation Red Book
Chapter 91 The Devil and the Count's Shura Field 1
The sky has turned brighter, and layers of clouds have blocked the sun. Although it is not a rainy day, it is not very sunny either.
Ivy leaned against the head of the bed, the velvet quilt covering her lower body, her black hair scattered and hanging to her waist.
She turned her head and looked at the sky outside the window. A few birds flew by and perched on the treetops, but her attention was not focused on them.
There were two men standing on either side of the room. They were of similar height and dressed in similar attire, except that one was wearing dark olive green and the other was wearing dark emerald green.
No matter which shade of green it was, it was an eyesore to Ivy.
"What is cousin Dorian doing in a single lady's room so early in the morning?" Count Waite asked preemptively.
Dorian snorted coldly and said lazily, "Ms. Ivy's boss specifically asked me to say something to her - take a good rest today, don't go to work, just deduct one day's salary."
"Cousin Vincent is the one. He is already old and still wants to seduce a girl under 20 years old?"
"Cousin Dorian won't be 17 until the end of the year. Isn't that irresponsible of a woman who is almost 20 years old?"
Ivy listened to the conversation between the two and took a bite of the bacon cheese sandwich in her hand. She finally turned her head back, obviously very interested in the age mentioned in their conversation.
Ivy is 18 years old now and will be 19 in a month or so, while Earl Waite looks like he is in his twenties.
Although Earl Waite does not look as mature as Mr. Zhu, he does not look young at all, like he is twenty-one or twenty-two. Could it be that he is twenty-seven or twenty-eight like Holmes and Moriarty?
Dorian just changed his appearance to be younger. As a demon, his actual age might be over a thousand years old. He is a truly old man. Thinking of this, Ivy couldn't help but find it a little funny.
Dorian straightened his collar and began his second wave of attack: "Jessica told me that she saw Count Vincent Waite carrying Miss Ivy up to the third floor yesterday. Cousin Vincent, you are really damaging Miss Ivy's innocence by doing this."
"I was rude last night. I will apologize to Miss Ivy later." Earl Waite lowered his head and chuckled.
"Last night, bandits broke into the manor and kidnapped Miss Ivy who came out alone to relax. Fortunately, I arrived early and no disaster happened." Count Waite put his hands behind his back, his green eyes glowing dimly, without the slightest tenderness.
"Oh, I will explain this to my mother and brother Andrew, investigate the matter thoroughly, and give Miss Ivy justice."
"Let's just forget it, lest the investigation leads to the discovery of some great young master, causing his status in the ladies' hearts to plummet." Waite sneered and pulled out the rope that was cut into two pieces from his waist bag.
Ivy leaned on the bed and took a closer look, and was immediately panicked. Isn't this the rope that Dorian used to tie her up yesterday?
The rope was thin but very long, with residual bloodstains on its off-white color. Circles of patterns were evenly arranged on the rope, making it look very strong.
Count Waite tilted his head and smiled while holding the rope, but his voice was chilling to the bone: "The ropes used by the poor and the bandits are ordinary coarse hemp ropes. This kind of workmanship and toughness are very similar to the long ropes used in the boots of noble men."
Dorian did not panic, but spread his hands helplessly, and said in a sarcastic tone: "Cousin Vincent, go search my shoe cabinet to see if there are any boots without the ropes."
Although Dorian said this, Ivy clearly saw the blue flame burning in Dorian's hands behind his waist just a second before he spread his hands.
He must have cast a spell to burn the entire pair of shoes. If Count Waite went to check now, he might still be able to see some unburned residue.
"So I said there is no need to pursue it. It's enough that you and I both understand it. After all, Miss Ivy doesn't want anyone to know about such an insulting thing." Count Waite glanced at Ivy.
Ivy lowered her eyes, not daring to look at the emotions in Count Waite's eyes. She recalled the words she used to deceive Count Waite last night. Count Waite must have known at that moment that Ivy was lying to him, so he deliberately did not reveal it.
If pressed, Ivy would be speechless and could only make up another lie to cover up the previous one. It was really too much effort. Ivy kept sighing in her heart.
