Chapter 60 Mrs. Emerson's Melancholy 2

"I don't want my mother to cry and be sad."

Dorian said in a hoarse voice, which made Mrs. Emerson feel even more distressed.

"Mother, you are the most beautiful rose in the entire ball today. If you shed tears, I will feel sorry for the dew that has fallen from the rose."

"Dorian, Dorian, my good boy." Mrs. Emerson gently comforted Dorian in her arms.

"I just thought about the children I lost."

"Sister Cecilia..."

Dorian looked up at Mrs. Emerson, feigning an innocent look on his seductive face.

"Yes, I lost her fifteen years ago, and I lost Lucas—your father—three years ago."

“You miss her.”

"Yes, I miss my daughter very much."

Mrs. Emerson walked to the black and white window, looked at the long queue of carriages in the distance, and endless melancholy rose in her eyes.

"More importantly, I still haven't found out the truth. I don't know if you understand how I feel, Dorian."

"I don't understand. I only know that I have the best mother in the world."

Dorian spoke flattering words, but the underlying tone in his eyes was contempt and annoyance.

"I'm glad you said that, my child. The guests will be here soon. Go downstairs and help Andrew. I'll get dressed. You have to stand on my left when the show starts."

"Yes, Mother."

Carriages stopped one after another at the castle gate, and one or two gorgeously dressed ladies and gentlemen in suits and ties emerged from them.

Holmes, Moriarty, Joshua and Mrs. Hudson rode in a carriage, and the three men were wearing smart three-piece suits.

Mrs. Hudson wore a white veil and an emerald brooch, and held a bottle of red wine tied with a ribbon and a feather fan.

After waiting for a long time in the crowded carriage convoy, the four people finally got out of the carriage.

Joshua and Mrs. Hudson were shocked by this magnificent mansion. Joshua stood there blankly, staring at the fountain in front of the mansion and the majestic white statue on the fountain.

Mrs. Hudson forgot to fan herself with the feather fan in her hand or to close her red lips. She just stared blankly at the entire building, as if she could not see the end of it.

"Joshua, Mrs. Hudson, please follow me. Lord Vincent Waite is here."

Moriarty gently took Mrs. Hudson's hand and brought her back to her senses from her daze.

Count Waite got out of the carriage alone. He was wearing a gray suit jacket, white breeches and long boots. Black chains were tied around his cuffs and breeches, making him look elegant and ascetic.

"Mrs. Hudson, it's nice to meet you, and I'm sorry to have taken up your time."

Earl White kissed Mrs. Hudson on the cheek, raised a polite smile, and looked at Mrs. Hudson tenderly with his emerald eyes.

Mrs. Hudson's heart was moved by his gaze, and a blush appeared on her fair face.

"Oh, you are so thoughtful, my Lord." Mrs. Hudson used a feather fan to cover her laughing mouth.

"I should thank you for inviting me to the dance hahahahahaha."

Lord Waite, still smiling politely, held out his arm to Mrs. Hudson.

Mrs. Hudson took Lord White's arm and they entered the mansion together.

"Let's go too."

Moriarty spoke gently, and walked into the mansion with Joshua, his hands behind his back.

Holmes stood in front of the fountain, puffing on his cigarette. His face was reflected in the water, but the ripples soon washed away the reflection.

Holmes shook the ash into the water. The ash scattered in several circles on the water surface, and suddenly a vortex formed, sucking the ash into the water.

Holmes frowned in confusion. He threw the whole cigarette into the fountain, and the sudden vortex rolled the cigarette into the bottom of the water.

The water surface is clean and free of any pollutants.

A butler came over and asked him to go into the mansion quickly, as Mrs. Emerson's ball was about to begin and he should not linger outside.

Holmes readily agreed and followed the butler into the mansion.

The fountain behind him remained the same as always, without any change.
