Operation Red Book
Chapter 49: The Holmes Brothers’ Confrontation
A light drizzle began to fall from the sky, and dark clouds covered the entire sky, making the whole of London look gray.
The breeze and drizzle fell on the glass window, filling the scenery framed by the window.
The landscape gradually became blurred, and looking out through the rain, all I could see was a sea of orange and red.
McCaffrey pulled the white curtains shut, blocking out the blurry view from the window.
Moriarty lit the kerosene lamp in Holmes' room. The dark room was illuminated by the kerosene lamp, and orange-red light shone into the room.
Holmes, wearing a funny white pajamas, was leaning sideways to pick up a match from the bedside table, intending to light the cigarette in his hand.
"For God's sake."
Mycroft strode forward and took the matches from the bedside table, then snatched the cigarette from Holmes' hand.
"I just got off the carriage, please don't let me smell this disgusting smell again."
"Isn't it disgusting when the Minister of Agriculture and you smoke in the office?"
Holmes leaned against the head of the bed with a unhappy look on his face.
It was not known whether it was because McCoff had taken his cigarettes or for some other reason.
"You are injured, so just stay in bed and rest."
Moriarty stood aside with his arms folded, his gentle tone contrasting with the low tones of the Holmes brothers.
"I'm injured and want to drink Chivas. What should I do?" Holmes spoke to Moriarty in a noticeably softer tone.
"I have brought you no liquor, but I have brought you a bottle of excellent wine."
Moriarty smiled, took off his brown coat and placed it on Holmes' quilt.
"I left it at the French restaurant next door." After saying that, he turned around, opened the door and walked out.
After the "click" sound of the door closing, a strong smell of gunpowder filled Holmes' room.
Mycroft frowned and said impatiently, "What do you want to tell me? Charlie, I only have less than half an hour."
"Are you busy, Mr. Secretary General? Are you busy reporting the results of biological experiments to Her Majesty the Queen?" Holmes spoke like a cannon.
His face was gloomy and his brown eyes glared at his brother who looked so much like him.
Mycroft looked dazed for a moment, he lowered his voice and tried his best to show the authority of an older brother.
"Sherlock Holmes, this is a matter that has been discussed between the British government and Her Majesty the Queen. You have no right to interfere."
"There is no one left in Niksala Prison. Whether it is the guards or the prisoners, they have all turned into dead water that has melted and evaporated. You have been fooled around by a god of death and a vampire."
"This has nothing to do with bioengineering experiments."
"I saw it! Those monsters imprisoned in the black building!" Holmes said hysterically.
"They are brutal and bloodthirsty. Were they so horrible when they were human?"
"This is inevitable for social progress, Sherlock. Achieve greater self and abandon the smaller self. The only truth is to make Britain stronger."
"Great Britain is now known as the 'Empire on which the Sun Never Sets' and our country should thank Her Majesty the Queen for this honour."
"Does this have anything to do with those bioengineering experiments?"
"Germany, France, the Netherlands and Russia, they should not be underestimated, Victor is an example, you know!"
Holmes was so angry that he turned his head away. His voice trembled and he was about to cry in the next second.
"What I know is that under your leadership, many humans have become half-human, half-ghost. They have endured tremendous pain, their souls have been mercilessly harvested by the god of death, and they cannot enter heaven after death."
"You've become sentimental, Charlie. Is it because of Mrs. Hudson and the two children you live with?" Mycroft said expressionlessly.
"That's a good thing." Mycroft walked slowly to Holmes' bedside. "There are many things in the world that are not as you wish."
"Biological experiments are carried out to defend our country against foreign enemies. In previous surveys, more than 80 percent of British people agreed that the cost of supporting these experiments is mostly borne by British taxpayers."
Mycroft lowered his head and turned Holmes' face away with his big hand, making him look at him.
Holmes' eyes were filled with pain and confusion, while Mycroft's brown eyes were calm.
"This is the choice of all British people."
