Operation Red Book

Chapter 36 The first mission was in prison 1

Deep in the gloomy forest, fog was spreading everywhere, covering the black branches and withered weeds.

There was a vast expanse of white all around. Not only could one not see or hear any living creature, whether it was a poisonous snake or a wild boar.

All in all, there is an inherent silence here.

If you look further in, you'll find a creaky wall and a rusty railing that stretches for miles across the open space.

There was a heavy gate in the middle of the wall, with armored guards standing in front of it.

Each guard held a rifle in his hand, his expression tense and serious, his eyes alert and paying close attention to any movement.

Above the gate was a row of arched hollow letters. Joshua opened his mouth and read out softly: "Niksala Prison."

Ivy showed Joshua the new content revealed in the red book a week ago.

She read the large words over and over again with a focused look on her face, muttering: "Dalton... escape, death... death?"

"I think you need to report this to SCO. This is no joke."

Ivy slammed the red book shut and put it aside.

"Her Majesty the Queen is on a tour of Scotland. Mr. Victor and Ms. Hilda Anglin are in Scotland accompanying the Foreign Office..."

Joshua propped his face up with his hands, trying not to fall asleep.

"What about the others? Didn't you tell them?"

"I told them that Mr. Dalton was going to defect, and they asked me how I knew that... I couldn't say that I had heard it from a book..."

"Then what did you say?"

"I said, I said...I saw it in a dream..."

Joshua's voice became quieter and quieter, and his hands were about to give out and his head slowly fell down.

"What other questions do you have? About GH, death, and souls? Should I ask Dalton..."

"Why didn't you tell me!" Holmes suddenly appeared, scaring the two of them so much that they jumped up.

Joshua was no longer sleepy. Looking at Holmes's angry face, he felt uneasy. "Yes, he is a consultant for SCO."

"How can you expect Joshua to talk to you when you don't see him every day?"

Ivy gave him a glare, turned around and slowly sat back on the steps, lifting the wick of the kerosene lamp.

"I'm so bored. There's not even a new case for those idiots at Scotland Yard. I can only go to the hospital morgue every day. I haven't gained anything in the past few days..."

Holmes tilted his head and yawned, while Ivy moved away again in disgust.

"It just so happens that I have nothing to do, so I will be the leader for once. Let's go with you to take a look. First, call James over, Joshua... Joshua!"

They both looked to the side and saw that Joshua had slumped against the wall, falling into a deep sleep.

"I say, you two, do you always have to discuss on the steps at two or three in the morning? Others need to rest too."

Holmes poked Ivy's face and pointed at Joshua who was leaning against the wall.

Ivy ignored his words, picked up the kerosene lamp and the red book, turned around and walked away.

"Go on, then," she said to Holmes, as she went down the stairs. "I won't keep you company."

"You're not going, are you afraid?"

"I'm very busy, so let someone else go." After saying this, he blew out the kerosene lamp.

Joshua woke up in his own bed the next day, but he had slept in the wrong direction, with his feet on the pillow and the quilt turned 90 degrees.

That day, Joshua and Holmes went to Johns newspaper office together, arrested Thomas, Bell and Jacob who had just returned from church, and went to the place where Dalton was imprisoned.

As soon as the group left, Alexander returned to the newspaper office carrying Luna, who was licking her ice cream.

After confirming that there was no one there, Luna suggested going to Alexander's house to walk the cat, and then she rode Alexander out again.

Now, there is no one left in Johns Newspaper Office.
