Operation Red Book
Chapter 107 Entering Florence This is step 1
London was filled with white fog in the early morning. The abundant water vapor in the air covered the entire August Street. The water vapor touched the metal and formed a layer of crystal clear dew on the surface.
A few raindrops fell from the sky from time to time, hitting Joshua's brown hat.
Joshua was completely unaware of the raindrops falling. He smacked his lips twice with sleepy eyes, obviously looking like he had not gotten enough sleep.
Ivy put her right hand in her pocket and spread her left hand in the air. After a while, a raindrop the size of a soybean fell on the palm of her hand. She felt dizzy instantly and a transparent splash of water bloomed in her palm.
"Look, look!" Ivy turned around excitedly and pointed to the water droplets in the palm of her hand to Holmes.
"I told you, if the moon grows hair, it will rain tomorrow!"
Holmes straightened his velvet hat, snorted in dissatisfaction, and turned away, ignoring her.
"One shilling! You have to accept the loss! You can't regret it!" Ivy raised her eyebrows, pulled Holmes's short black cloak, and touched the jingling coins in his pocket.
"I know, I know!"
Holmes searched his pocket, took out a shilling and placed it on the water stain on Ivy's palm. His movement was so big that it woke up Joshua who was dozing off beside him.
"Are you here? Can we start now?" Joshua rubbed his eyes, stretched, and spoke in a soft voice, as if he had just woken up from a dream.
"No, it's not time yet. McMillan Manor is quite far from here. Let's wait a little longer."
Ivy put away the shilling and looked at the quartz watch on Holmes' wrist.
"The devil is never punctual. Why does he have to involve that kid in the operation? Can't we let me or James pretend to be a viscount?" Holmes pouted and said dissatisfiedly.
"Yesterday it was you who hinted at me to call Dorian over. Now that you've called him over, you're going back on your word?"
"I just want to confront him, not involve him in our operations."
"I don't want to be with the devil. If Jacob knew, he would definitely nag me again!"
"What are you afraid of? Joshua and I are not Christians. Anyone who can do things for me is a partner. If Jacob preaches to you again, tell him this."
"Joshua! Listen to me too, you always say that Jacob always drags you to church!" Ivy instructed Joshua aggressively.
Holmes made a "tsk" sound and turned his head away, no longer participating in the conversation with Ivy.
"Student Ivy, that bakery is open."
Joshua pointed to the bakery nearby. The bakery, which was originally dark, was now lit up with warm yellow lights.
"That's great. Let's go to the store and have some bread. Maybe we can see Henry there."
Ivy turned to the two of them and took out the shilling from her pocket: "Look, I just won it! Let me treat you to this meal..."
Ivy smiled triumphantly, but before she could finish her sentence, the coin she had just warmed up was taken away by a hand.
"Let me treat you. After all, my identity outside is the young master of the Emerson family."
The magnetic sound rang out in the rain and fog, sounding particularly crisp and pleasant.
"Hey, the devil walks without making any sound?" Joshua blinked and looked at Dorian and Ivy blankly.
"Maybe he was a green onion before he turned into a devil. Look at him, he's so green all over, he's afraid that others can't see him." Holmes raised his eyes and snorted coldly.
"Do you believe that I will tie you up like green onions right now? And then stick your heads into the black soil?"
Dorian smiled brightly, his olive pupils slowly turning red.
"Shut up, you three, and get into the store. I'm starving."
Ivy interrupted the three childish people irritably, took back the shilling that Dorian had taken, and walked into the bakery.
As you push open the door of the bakery, the aroma of freshly baked bread immediately hits your nose.
The store manager, wearing a tall hat, was holding a large plate of steaming French croissants, and his curved mustache swayed with his steps.
Hearing that a customer was coming, the manager's blue eyes instantly lit up. He licked his upper lips, and in the blink of an eye, his face put on a warm expression.
"Oh my dear guests, you came at the right time. I just baked 20 Croissants. Would you like to buy two for breakfast? Oh! Holy Mother Mary!"
