Operation Red Book
Chapter 100: A Week of Worry 1
Today is Saturday, and it has been 5 days since the night Raphael arrived.
The purple-clad Grim Reaper disappeared after he finished his death announcement. Except for the mess of kraft paper and the destroyed apple tower, even the night breeze stopped howling, as if this brainless lunatic had never been there.
It's raining again in damn London, and the whole sky is damn grey, as if foreshadowing something is wrong.
Joshua felt that Ivy's condition was really not right, especially since Monday this week.
No matter how careful Joshua and Holmes were at home, as long as they came into Ivy's sight, they would always receive an angry "Fxxk!"
"Did she eat a cannonball or cow dung?"
A dirty rag soaked in sewage was thrown into Holmes' face.
He angrily threw down the newspaper in his hand, threw the dirty rag on his face back at Ivy's head, and was finally chased into Joshua's room by Ivy with a broom.
"Mr. Holmes, do you also think that Ivy is acting strange recently?"
Joshua put down the documents in his hand and waited for two minutes until the angry noises outside the door died down before responding to Holmes.
"She was fine last week, but since this week she's been like an old witch brewing potions in the forest!"
Holmes brought two chairs and leaned them against the door, then stretched himself, panting.
As Joshua listened to Holmes' description, the only thing that came to his mind was Miss Bell stirring the cauldron in the cabin deep in the forest.
Classmate Ivy's face appeared in the wooden cage beside her, looking pitifully at the red potion in the pot.
"Mr. Zhu couldn't stand her anymore. A few days ago, I went to Muyunzhai for a massage, and from a distance I saw a group of people trying to stop a fight. When I got closer, I saw that it was Mr. Zhu and her who were fighting in the kitchen."
"Who won in the end?" Joshua blinked and put the documents he had read neatly back into his handbag.
"I pushed through the crowd and separated them, one hand each and one ear at a time. Do you know what the reason for the fight was?"
Holmes walked over to Joshua's desk and poured himself a cup of hot green tea.
"Because Mr. Zhu doesn't eat slowly at all, he always gobbles up all the food on the table and makes a mess of his own seat."
"The little sheep always turned a blind eye to it before, but this time, for some unknown reason, she threw her chopsticks and started swearing, and then it turned into a fight."
Holmes drank the cooled green tea in one gulp and wiped his mouth with his sleeve at the end.
Joshua listened carefully and began to recall Ivy's abnormal behavior in the past few days:
Every night, Ivy would have a long talk with Mrs. Hudson, and several times she even cried in Mrs. Hudson's arms.
Joshua didn't dare to ask the reason, so he could only ask Mrs. Hudson secretly.
But she kept silent, just shook her head silently and gave him a strange look.
Ivy even threw the entire red book at him on Tuesday morning, and threatened him fiercely not to open it, and that he could only look at it on Sunday two weeks later.
You know, Joshua's memory of the Red Book only lasted from the time he was in Niksala Prison.
In short, it was very abnormal, and Joshua had to suspect the McMillan Manor incident.
He was called out by Count Waite in the middle of the ball, and he never saw Ivy again until the next morning, when he saw her with Mrs. Hudson.
Joshua's eyes couldn't help but stay on the red color above the bookcase. His Adam's apple slid up and down and he swallowed.
The old classic red leather cover seemed to have a strange attraction, constantly tempting his curiosity and inviting his gaze.
"No, no, no way... Classmate Ivy will be angry." Joshua remembered Ivy's threatening words and hurriedly lowered his head and muttered to himself.
But Joshua couldn't help but glance over there. This was related to Ivy's mental health. Perhaps taking a look at what happened and Ivy's inner thoughts recorded in the red book could effectively help Ivy struggle out of her bad mood!
Joshua turned his head secretly and was surprised to find that the red book on the bookshelf was gone.
A man in a white shirt was standing in front of the bookcase, holding a red book in his hand. What's worse, he had already opened it and was reading it with great interest!
"When did Mr. Holmes go there? But, but, if this happens, he opened the book without permission, and if Ivy gets angry and beats him, she can't beat me!"
Joshua thought so, but his body quickly moved towards Holmes.
Seeing Joshua gliding over like a seal, Holmes did not hide anything and read directly:
"Joshua, I told you to watch it in two weeks, but you watched it secretly within a few days! It doesn't matter, I'm going to die next Sunday anyway, and this is what a mentally ill death told me."
"My name appeared on the Grim Reaper's list, and the one who came to claim my soul was Miss Grace, whom we met at the Florence Orphanage before... This is the little note tucked inside."
Holmes put away his exaggerated smile, handed the note to Joshua, and began to read the contents of the red book carefully.
Joshua looked at the beautiful English words on the paper, and touched the wrinkled places where the ink was smudged by tears. He realized the mood in which Ivy wrote this passage. He was speechless, and continued reading where Holmes had left off:
"That Grim Reaper told me about the puppet incident. The Grim Reaper in the Chinese Docks area was transferred from China. I don't know Mr. Zhu's background yet, but I guess he has a hard time in China."
"Also, it was Golden Hell where Arnold was that caused the puppet tragedy at the Chinese dock area. After I die, you must bring Arnold and his men to justice and avenge my compatriots!"
"Also, there are many things. I have been through a lot. Check the latest content in the red book. Don't worry about me. I want to be free in the limited days I have! What is Ivy talking about? I don't understand anything."
Joshua looked at Holmes, but Holmes' brows were visibly wrinkled, and his fingers holding the red book were clenched tighter and tighter.
His whole body was trembling slightly, and the brown eyeballs in his eye sockets seemed to have been tempered in flames, as if he wanted to burn everything in front of him with the fire.
"What's the matter? Mr. Holmes, what did you find? Eh——"
