Red Mansion Daiyu, the Rise of the Lin Family

Chapter 8: A strange close friend, a family that is not a good one

"Mom! What's going on?"

"What kind of princess is this? Are there any royal laws?"

"Kidnap the family of an imperial official in broad daylight?"

Jia Min looked at Daiyu with annoyance, "You're still asking what happened? It's all because of that cheap parrot of yours."

"Where is the culprit, the parrot?"

Daiyu looked around. There was only one bed in the room, a small square table under the bed, and an altar table near the window.

There is a three-legged incense burner with two handles on the table, and the three incense sticks in the burner have just burned out.

There really is no parrot. Does this mean that everyone flies away when disaster strikes?

Yongan still looked terrified, "Mom! This is too scary to come out and worship Buddha!"

"I don't want an eagle anymore. Eagles eat human flesh, right?"

Jia Min hugged Yong'an without saying anything. If she had known this would happen, she would have gone to another temple or monastery to pray to the Buddha.

"This Princess Nan'an wasn't like this before? Has she forgotten who I am?"

"It's impossible for us to be locked up forever. The driver must have informed the master."

Daiyu comforted Yongan, "Don't you realize that the eagle is not scary? It likes us. Birds are indeed more reasonable than humans."

"For this princess and the prince's family, this bird is indeed well-educated and well-mannered."

"Mother!" She turned her head and asked Jia Min, "Who is this princess and prince?"

Jia Min had not intended to tell the child this, so she paused for a moment before saying, “It could be Princess Nan’an and the Crown Prince!”

"What?" Daiyu stood up suddenly.

Could this prince be the King of Nannan who was defeated and captured in the book?

The Concubine Nan'an was reluctant to give up her daughter in exchange for her son, so she gave up Tanchun in marriage.

Aren’t these a nice family?

"Mother! Does Princess Nan'an have another daughter?"

Thinking of this, Daiyu couldn't help but hug Jia Min's arm and feel the warmth there.

Jia Min held the two children in her arms, then took the blanket off the bed and wrapped it around the two children to block out the slight chill.

"Yes, she has a little daughter. I also heard about it from your father, but mother hasn't contacted her for more than ten years."

"What? Mother, you know Princess Nan'an."

"Yes, we were close friends before I got married." Now Jia Min regretted very much that she should not have been clinging to the friendship that she had not seen for more than ten years.

Maybe it’s because I married far away and missed my old friends too much?

……

"Bang! Bang! Bang!" There was a knock on the door.

"Madam, I am here on the orders of the princess to bring you some snacks." A respectful voice came.

Jia Min quickly responded, "Come in!"

A woman in plain clothes came in with two maids.

Each maid had a tray, one with four kinds of fruits and four kinds of snacks, and the other with a teapot and teacups.

The two maids lowered their heads to pour the tea, then bowed and left with the tray.

"Wait!" Jia Min stood up.

Can't you let him go? He came in for no apparent reason.

"Didn't the princess tell me when she would summon us? Is this the way the palace treats guests? Could you please tell the princess that I am her best friend?"

The woman who led the way answered, "Madam Jia, we are all servants. We only obey the orders of our master. We know nothing about anything that our master has not ordered us to do."

"But I hope Madam will stay calm. The princess is taking care of household chores right now. Since we are old friends, you should understand the princess's difficulties."

"The palace will certainly not neglect its guests. There are two maids outside the door. Just ask them to run errands if you need anything."

The maid rejected Jia Min in a soft but firm manner, bowed, turned around, closed the door and left.

Jia Min looked at her children helplessly and gave each of them a piece of fruit.

Yongan "Ka Chi", I took a bite, it was crispy and sweet. I raised my head and prepared to share it with my sister.

Outside the window, I saw that damn parrot banging against the window.

What happened? Was he finally being hunted down?

Jia Min stood up and opened the window.

The parrot flew in and landed on Daiyu's shoulder, chirping.

It saw that no one was paying any attention to it and everyone was looking at it as if it were a dead bird.

The parrot straightened its posture and raised its head, its eyes rolling rapidly in fear.

A woman's voice like ice and snow rang out.

"Tan Si, tie up this evil boy and give him twenty military sticks."

"Princess! The prince is only ten years old, and he was broken by twenty military sticks."

"Tan Si! I'm afraid of hurting him, but will those enemies who are eyeing him covetously be worried about hurting him?"

"Hit me!"

"Puff! Puff! Puff, ah..." The prince's uncontrollable screams came out vividly from the parrot's mouth.

"Shut up! What will happen if the servants hear you?"

"Puff! Puff! Puff" the sound of hitting flesh and blood, and the prince's suppressed whimper.

……

"Gurgle," Yong'an spat out the fruit in his mouth.

"Wow!" I cried, it was so scary.

Jia Min's hands were shaking, and her lips were trembling a little. "Why is Princess Nan'an so cruel? Why is she so cruel? Why is she so cruel?"

Daiyu thought, this damn parrot must be a voice actor!

After expressing itself, the parrot fainted and collapsed on Daiyu's shoulder.

This can't be tolerated by you.

Daiyu plucked it down and threw it into the corner. The parrot blinked twice, flew up proudly, stood on the windowsill and looked down.

When he saw that everyone was looking at him unfriendly, he flapped his wings and slid out from the gap of the half-open window.

"Mother! Why don't you tell us about this princess?" Lin Daiyu saw that Jia Min was really nervous.

Jia Min didn't think she was nervous, she regretted bringing her child here. She let her child suffer with her, and he was indeed very different from the person she had imagined.

In the past, Princess Nan'an was bright and beautiful, and she was as beautiful as the moon. Who wouldn't love her?

Jia Min recounted those long-forgotten memories.

When the story was about marriage, Yongan fell asleep. Daiyu was almost drowsy when the story continued.

There were three knocks on the door. Lin Ruhai's voice came from the door.

"Ma'am, open the door!"

"Master!" Jia Min stood up with a whoosh, standing up too fast. She woke up Yong'an who was leaning against her, then reached out her arms and gently picked up the child, put him on the bed, covered him with a quilt, and then turned around to open the door.

Lin Daiyu had already run over and opened the door on tiptoe, and the dusty Lin Ruhai pushed the door open.

"Ma'am! I'm scared. Are you okay?"

"Master!" Jia Min grabbed Lin Ruhai's arm. Only then did she notice that Lin Ruhai looked a little tired and was breathing slightly.

"Master! I am causing you trouble."

Lin Ruhai had been feeling a little uneasy ever since he sent Jia Min and the other two away early this morning. He read books of sages and had always kept his distance from gods and Buddhas.

Moreover, he has always kept a secret in his heart, that is, there was a bald monk who tried to convert his daughter Daiyu twice.

He rejected them all. How could he bear to let his beloved daughter become a nun?

His daughter should be a noble lady from an aristocratic family, rich and glorious.

So, when the coachman stumbled over to report the news.

He smiled bitterly and came anyway!
