I, Superman, the Supreme Commander

Chapter 30: The Scholar and Swordsman in Lanruo Temple

"What bad luck!"

In the northern wilderness of Guobei County, a handsome young man dressed as a scholar was walking quickly, carrying a backpack and holding a lantern, with his body hunched over.

The scholar's name is Ning Caichen. He is a failed scholar. In order to make a living, he came to Guobei County to help people collect debts. Unexpectedly, he encountered heavy rain on the way. The account book was wet and the handwriting was blurred. The debtor took the opportunity to default on his debt. Ning Caichen, who could not collect the money and was penniless, came to Lanruo Temple outside the city to spend the night.

"Ouch!"

As soon as he reached the foot of the mountain where Lanruo Temple was located, Ning Caichen heard a wolf howling right next to his ear.

His face changed, and then, in the dim sky, he saw a few pairs of green eyes emerging from the woods not far away and rushing towards him quickly.

Mom!

Ning Caichen was so frightened that he ran without hesitation, running along the rugged road deep into the woods in panic.

Out of breath, he ran headfirst into the deserted ancient temple, and the sound of the wolves chasing him suddenly disappeared.

Ning Caichen came to his senses and found that he had escaped from the wolf's pursuit. He looked around and found that he had arrived at the gate of a gloomy and dilapidated temple. On the stone tablet in front of the door were three ancient characters: "Lanruo Temple".

"So this is Lanruo Temple."

Ning Caichen looked around the temple. The temple courtyard was full of dead branches and leaves, and the walls were covered with spider webs. It looked abandoned for a long time, and the doors and windows were a bit broken, but overall it was still intact and could shelter from the wind and rain. It was a good place to spend the night.

I really don't know why the people in the county are so mysterious when they mention Lanruo Temple, as if there is some unspeakable secret here.

"anyone there?"

A man of letters does not talk about the supernatural. As a scholar, Ning Caichen naturally did not believe in these supernatural beings. He thought that the robbers who killed people without blinking an eye were more terrifying.

He stepped into the gate of the ancient temple and shouted loudly, in order to avoid alerting the enemy. In case the temple was occupied by strongmen, he could escape at any time.

The temple was quiet, with no sound except the sound of the wind.

Ning Caichen breathed a sigh of relief, and just as he relaxed his mind, suddenly a bearded man holding a long sword jumped out of the darkness, shouted and chopped down at him on the head.

My life is over!

Ning Caichen was so frightened that he closed his eyes and waited for death.

But he felt a strong wind passing over his head, followed by shouts and the sound of swords clashing rapidly.

He opened his eyes curiously, only to find that the bearded man was fighting with another man and was not trying to attack him.

A false alarm.

Ning Caichen felt somewhat familiar with the man who was fighting with the bearded man.

"Huh? It seems to be the swordsman I met during the day!"

Ning Caichen was deeply impressed by this swordsman because he was a great martial arts master and could chase and kill a dozen bandits by himself, killing them like chickens and ducks in an instant.

The bearded man and the swordsman exchanged blows quickly. Each move was deadly and fierce. The invisible sword energy left marks on the surrounding walls, cutting off the grass and causing leaves to fly.

Amid the flashing of swords and sabers, the two men used their lightness skills to leap and move, fighting from the ground to the roof, from the roof to the tree, and finally from the tree back to the yard.

Ning Caichen was anxious to avoid the two of them so as not to be implicated.

But it seemed as if there was an invisible force affecting him. Wherever he hid, the two men would fight him. In the end, they trapped Ning Caichen on the left and right, and confronted each other with swords raised in a murderous manner.

Ning Caichen wanted to die. He was so unlucky today. When he came to Guobei County to collect accounts, his account books got soaked. When he came to Lanruo Temple to stay overnight, he encountered two strong men fighting to the death.

Two sharp swords filled with murderous intent were only a few inches away from Ning Caichen's throat. Ning Caichen did not dare to move and could only stand awkwardly between the two men.

"Humph!"

The bearded man snorted coldly and said, "Brother Xiahou, you have fought me for seven years, and you have lost for seven years. You are really patient. You chase me wherever I hide."

Xiahou Swordsman also sneered and said sarcastically: "Yan Chixia, I didn't expect that you have been hiding in Lanruo Temple for half a month and sharpened your sword even more."

Yan Chixia shook his head.

"No. You wasted your youth, you were too ambitious, and you didn't strive for progress. For the false reputation of being the best swordsman in the world, you were too aggressive and your intentions were not right. You used the sword without any purpose, you were too impatient, and your moves were fast but not accurate..."

"Enough! I'm here to duel with you, not to listen to your lectures!" Xiahou Swordsman's face was suddenly filled with anger, and he moved the sword forward an inch.

The two of them ignored the third person in between and started arguing.

Ning Caichen secretly groaned.

Seeing that the two were about to fight again because of a disagreement, he quickly advised: "Two heroes, please stop arguing. I think both of you have a point, but you both did something wrong. Why don't you put down your swords and move each other with sincerity? As the saying goes, the universe is infinite, and true love is eternal. You should love each other and never kill each other..."

[You guys can quarrel, but can you please not put the sword so close to me! ]

Ning Caichen was going crazy in his heart.

"You talk more bullshit than him!"

Feeling that Ning Caichen was more long-winded than a monk chanting sutras, Xiahou Jianke cursed him and turned away unhappily.

In fact, he had already lost to Yan Chixia in the duel, but he just couldn't let go of his pride. Now Ning Caichen came out to disrupt the situation, giving him a way out, so he could just use this as an excuse to leave without being too embarrassed.

After Xiahou Swordsman disappeared, Yan Chixia sheathed his sword and stared at Ning Caichen with a creepy look.

Ning Caichen had an innocent expression on his face and looked at him with innocent eyes that were harmless to humans and animals.

"Scholar, you have so much love, you should go to the brothel instead of coming here. Tell me, why are you doing here?" Yan Chixia said unhappily.

"Come and stay the night."

"Are you brave?"

"so big."

Ning Caichen was puzzled. Lanruo Temple was not his home, so why did this bearded man seem to be unwelcoming to me?

"Then look over there." Yan Chixia pointed behind Ning Caichen.

Ning Caichen looked back and saw Yan Chixia suddenly shouted in his ear. Ning Caichen was so scared that he immediately hid behind Yan Chixia.

After teasing the timid scholar, Yan Chixia mocked him, "You are so scared that you hide behind me. If the tiger runs out, won't you be so scared that you hide in my crotch?"

"Get out of here right now!"

After Yan Chixia gave the warning, he used his lightness skills to fly upstairs and disappeared.

Ning Cai looked around, but there was no sign of Yan Chixia. He thought that it was so late and he had nowhere to go. Why should he leave just because that bearded man told him to?

This place doesn't belong to him alone!

【I won’t leave! 】

Scholars all have stubborn tempers.

If you are right, you will always be right. Ning Caichen felt that the bearded man was unreasonable, so he decided not to leave.

The tiger and the like must have been made up by the bearded man to scare him, because he wouldn't be scared.

So he quietly found a room in the temple that looked relatively clean and intact and stayed there.

Ning Caichen didn't notice that when he peeped into the temple's wing, a pair of eyes were quietly watching him outside his window, and then the peeper left quietly.

Half a mile away, in an open space in the forest.

A bonfire was lit in the open space, and the swordsman Xiahou Qingfeng was washing and bandaging his wounds by the pond. He had just fought with Yan Chixia, but he was defeated and had a sword in his shoulder.

The more Xiahou Qingfeng thought about it, the angrier he became.

It's not because the wound hurts, but because——

"That old fellow Yan Chixia only won against me a few times by luck, so what right does he have to lecture me? Humph, it must be that I wasted my energy killing those bandits today. Yan Chixia, just wait, I will definitely win next time! Then it will be my turn to lecture you..."

"whee……"

At this moment, Xiahou Qingfeng heard a sweet laughter like a silver bell.
