Miss Star, spoiled by her father and brother

Chapter 5: Reminiscence of the Past Life (2)

In the morning, Xu's mother cooked a red egg for Xu Weiwei and asked her with a smile what birthday gift she wanted.

Xu Weiwei thought about it and realized that she had everything she needed. Her family was better off than most people in the town. Because her grandfather opened a pharmacy, they had hawthorn pills all the time. Other children rarely had a bottle of Wahaha, but Xu's father bought her rows of them.

But seeing the hesitant look in Xu's mother's eyes, Xu Weiwei casually said, "I want to eat candied haws."

There are a lot of people selling this in winter, and grandpa always brings a bunch for her when he comes back from town. It's not a big deal.

Mother Xu nodded and went about her own business.

After lunch, Xu Weiwei went out with her sisters to build snowmen and slide down the slide, having a lot of fun. When it got dark, she said goodbye to her sisters and went home.

No one invited her to warm herself by the fire as usual, and the house was empty.

Xu Weiwei looked at the coal stove and saw that the coal balls inside had burned to gray, so she quickly replaced them with new ones.

Sometimes her mother would go to the mountain to wait for her father to get off work and come home together, so Xu Weiwei was not afraid. She sat quietly by the stove with a picture book in her hand, reading. However, she could not concentrate on the comics that were originally interesting today and felt upset.

After waiting for an unknown amount of time, she heard her father and his coworkers talking and laughing outside. Xu Weiwei hurried over to open the door and saw her father coming back alone. She asked in a daze, "Dad, didn't Mom come to look for you?"

When Mr. Xu heard this, he put his tools aside and frowned, saying, "No, where's your mother?"

"I don't know. I was at home at noon..."

Father Xu pushed the family's motorcycle out, told Xu Weiwei to stay at home to watch the house and not run around, and then rode out on the motorcycle.

Xu Weiwei stood at the door for a while. The cold wind dissipated the last bit of warmth in her body. After shivering, Xu Weiwei returned to the stove and stared at the flames in a daze.

I don't know how long I waited, but Xu Weiwei was so sleepy that her head kept nodding off. When the last bit of heat in the stove dissipated, Xu Weiwei got up and found that it was already dark outside. She no longer cared about the fire, but climbed onto the bed, curled up in the cold quilt and fell asleep.

Two days passed and no one came back from home. Fortunately, it was winter and food didn't spoil easily. I heated up the leftovers for two meals and then ate steamed buns and pickled vegetables to barely fill my stomach.

At noon on the third day, the sound of a motorcycle was heard outside the house. Xu Weiwei stood up and ran out quickly, opening the door.

Seeing a familiar face getting off the motorcycle, Xu Weiwei threw herself into her mother's arms, wanting to tell her about the grievances she had suffered in the past two days, but was ruthlessly pushed away the next second.

Xu looked up slightly and saw Xu's mother frowning and staring at her with disgust, as if she was some dirty thing.

Although they had the same facial features and body shape, Xu Weiwei felt that the person in front of her was a stranger.

Perhaps it would be more appropriate to say enemy, because strangers would not treat a child with such disgust.

Xu Weiwei didn't understand why, her mother was standing in front of her, but she seemed to have lost her.

two days ago.

Xu's mother went to the town to buy candied haws for Xu Weiwei. Because it was cold in winter and it got dark early, the candied haws sellers sometimes went home early, so Grandpa Xu was not always able to buy them when he got off work.

In order to ensure that Xu Weiwei could eat candied haws on her birthday, Xu's mother decided to walk to the town to buy them. However, the snow on the road was frozen and very slippery to walk on. In order to avoid a car, Xu's mother accidentally fell and hit her head on a stone on the roadside, and fainted immediately.

A villager recognized that this was Xu's daughter-in-law, helped send her to the hospital, contacted Grandpa Xu, and on the way back to the village, he met Xu's father who was in a hurry.

The father and son stayed in the hospital and the man woke up soon. Apart from some skin injuries on his forehead, he was in good condition. He was even healthier than before because Xu's mother regained consciousness.

Looking at the man in front of her, with whom she had been living day and night for five years, there was no longer dependence and love in Xu's mother's eyes, but only disgust, collapse and disbelief.

The five years she had personally experienced flashed through her mind like a movie, and Xu's mother felt as if she had watched an absurd tragedy.

In her mind, she had returned to the identity she had five years ago - female college student Xu Yanling, not someone's wife or mother.

Xu Yanling screamed and smashed things in the room to vent her anger and rejection. She could not accept that she had married a laborer without a clear mind.

Father Xu and Grandpa Xu had no choice but one of them stayed to watch while the other invited Xu Yanling's parents to come over.

The two old people were very surprised to hear that their daughter had recovered, but things had already come to this point, and they had also seen how good their son-in-law was to their daughter over the past few years.

After two days of individual persuasion in the ward, Xu Yanling finally gave in and agreed to go home with Xu's father.

That led to the scene where Xu Weiwei opened the door.

She saw that her mother no longer liked her, so she became more sensible. She usually helped her parents with chores, but now she was eager to do all the work.

Xu Yanling also polished her little leather shoes after the adults fell asleep - her mother didn't like her touching her things and would get angry if she saw it.

Father Xu also tried his best to please him. After returning from the hospital, they took separate beds. After work, they rode their motorcycles to the town to buy some braised meat, pickled vegetables, cakes, etc.

But Xu Yanling didn't buy it. She always ate a few bites and then went back into the room and closed the door. No one knew what she was busy with.

This kind of relationship is ultimately unhealthy. Father Xu gradually couldn't stand Xu Yanling's cold eyes and contempt, and the two began to quarrel.

The home became visibly crumbling.

On New Year's Eve, Father Xu and Grandpa Xu went to the county town. The two had just had a quarrel and had been in a cold war for several days. Taking advantage of the New Year, Father Xu wanted to go into the city to buy some things for Xu Yanling to ease the relationship, leaving Xiao Weiwei and Xu Yanling alone at home.

Xu Yanling also went out sometimes. Although she didn't allow Xiao Weiwei to go with her, she would always come back on the same day.

But when Xu Yanling went out this time, Xu Weiwei had a premonition that "Mom" would never come back.

She wore nothing, just like usual, but if you looked closely you could see that her eyebrows were carefully drawn, and her spirit was very different.

The moment Xu Yanling stepped out of the room, Xu Weiwei called out "Mom" in panic. Xu Yanling turned her head, a trace of pity flashed across her eyes, but that was all.

The door closed in front of Xu Weiwei. She did not chase after him, but just stayed where she was, her mind blank.

Later I heard that before Xu Yanling suffered from dementia, she had a boyfriend who was also a college student. They were from neighboring villages and met each other on the train to school. Her family didn't know about it yet, so Xu Yanling ran away with him.

Father Xu couldn't stand the gossip of the villagers and was heartbroken by this place, so he left home to work outside. At first, there was still news from him, but as he ran farther and farther away, the news became less and less.

Xu Weiwei began to depend on her grandfather for life. Her parents briefly appeared in her life and disappeared like a shooting star. Apart from the year she was in swaddling clothes, the year she learned to walk, and the two years of ignorance, that year was the only time she could really count.

But as I grow older, the memory of this year fades away in my recollection.

The two roles of being a parent only brought her one year of sweetness and a long period of bitterness.

She never imagined that she could be a "daughter" again.

Through a layer of glass, Xu Weiwei looked at the excited woman with tears in her eyes, not knowing how to react.

Mrs. Seaforth was already clasping Merlin's fingers, and if her body had not permitted it, she would have almost jumped for joy.

"Did you see her eyes? They're just like mine! I finally have a baby that follows me."

"The little lady is so cute~~! The admiral will definitely like it when he sees it."

Mrs. Seaforth puffed up her chest proudly. "Of course. He likes anything I give birth to, even if it's a potato."
