Harry Potter: Miss Malfoy

Chapter 83: Talks from the Elders

Arrived at the principal's office.

Lucius originally insisted that Draco go back to the dormitory to rest first, but Dumbledore reminded him that she was the real person involved and had the right to decide whether to stay.

Draco naturally didn't want to leave.

She wanted to know how the events of the Chamber of Secrets would end, and how, if possible, they had unfolded in the first place.

The tattered diary lay open on Dumbledore's desk.

There are some vague guesses that I don't want to face, about why the diary fell into my hands?

I remembered the night before school started, when Dobby cried in his room—

"Dobby must protect the lady"

"My friend said that adventure is the best protection."

What does this mean? Does Dobby know something? Father's friend, could it be...?

Looking at Severus, I found that he was squinting his eyes, looking at the torn diary.

At the same time, I noticed that my father's eyes were fixed on the desk and his face was pale.

"Even if the culprit is eliminated, the credit will not be yours, Dumbledore."

After a long time, Lucius spoke slowly.

She held her daughter in her arms, letting Draco lean against her, trying not to let her hands tremble.

I could feel that my daughter was already exhausted and was just struggling to hold on.

I didn't understand what had gone wrong and felt guilty about the horror my daughter had gone through.

But at the same time, there is also some confusion.

I had clearly put the diary into the boy's backpack with my own hands, so how did it end up in my daughter's hands?

Why would an item left behind by the Dark Lord be willing to harm the Malfoys?

His thoughts were racing, but his expression remained calm as he spoke quietly.

"Unfortunately, as a director, I can only reiterate this."

"This incident further demonstrates your incompetence."

This is the basic diplomatic skill required of the head of the Malfoy family, responsible for dealing with high-ranking officials of the Ministry of Magic.

"Yes. Thanks to the wonderful cooperation between Slytherin and Gryffindor."

Dumbledore spoke softly, seeming very happy.

Harry, who was standing aside, only felt that there was some calculation in the old headmaster's eyes when he glanced at him from time to time.

As expected, Dumbledore spoke next.

"But, Lucius, I think you must admit that the conspiracy in the Chamber of Secrets is very bizarre."

"Just imagine if Ginny Weasley hadn't had the misfortune to take possession of the diary."

The lens suddenly flashed, revealing Lucius' deepest self-blame and fear as a father.

"The one who fell in the Chamber of Secrets was Draco."

Draco felt his father's hand tremble slightly.

"What kind of person would hand over the Malfoy family's daughter to Lord Voldemort as a sacrifice?"

Dumbledore hinted at something, and Lucius' hands trembled even more violently.

Draco, who had just heard the Dark Lord's name, looked at Harry with wide eyes.

Even though he couldn't see him, Harry seemed to sense something and nodded wearily in his direction.

Tom Riddle is the Dark Lord?

Draco was not unaware of his parents' past with the Dark Lord, and his heart was suddenly entangled with several different emotions.

"It's probably... just an accident."

His father finally managed to utter a word, and Draco could tell that the emotion behind it was full of regret.

----

Of course Draco believed his father.

Although Dumbledore's tone was full of suggestion, this could not have been deliberately arranged by his father.

He would never force the diary upon himself and use it to sacrifice his life to the Dark Lord.

If you really want to do this, why go to so much trouble?

Draco was troubled by other things.

Does this mean that the plan that my father was supposed to help the Dark Lord with has failed?

Does it mean that since last year, I have once again stopped the Dark Lord and even implicated my father?

And this time, when his daughter once again teamed up with the Dark Lord's mortal enemy to sabotage his plans?

But what concerned her more was that she finally understood the danger of the Dark Lord.

Last year, he had personally experienced the horrors associated with the Dark Lord.

But last year I always believed that my opponent was Quirrell who was pretending to be the Dark Lord.

It wasn’t until the last level that I realized how wrong I was.

But this year is different.

From the beginning to the end, he was dealing directly with the Dark Lord.

The more I think about it, the more horrified I am, and I feel even more frightened and uneasy.

Because of his parents and Severus, Draco had some yearning for the dark arts since he was a child.

I have always believed in Severus' explanation: only wizards with profound knowledge and abilities can understand the mysteries of black magic.

In her elegant upbringing, she had never thought of using murder as a means of punishment.

As a descendant of a wealthy family, one should have a more elegant way of making others obey him.

As a result, it is not quite understood what people mean when they refer to the Dark Lord's reign of terror.

My parents don't want to talk much about that past.

I just occasionally say that if the Dark Lord is resurrected, the magical world will be more glorious.

I have always believed what my parents said since I was a child, until now.

After escaping death and learning that Riddle is the Dark Lord, he vaguely realizes that his father was once a follower of the Dark Lord, which may have some chilling meaning.

Did they ever help the Dark Lord kill innocent people?

Just like Riddle tried to kill Pansy and Daphne, and himself and Ginny?

What about Severus? Is he like this too?

If Riddle is the Dark Lord, does that also mean that if he succeeds in being resurrected, the feeling of fear in the Chamber of Secrets will become a daily occurrence?

What's worse is that, judging from this closed room incident,

The judgment he made based on his intuition seemed to make him the enemy of the Dark Lord.

Why is this so? Obviously, he just doesn't want to kill innocent people.

-

The effect of the invisibility spell was slowly wearing off, and Draco's face was becoming paler and paler.

"That's enough. Now that the problem with the Chamber of Secrets has been resolved and you've been invited back by the Council, at least let the child go back and rest."

Seeing Draco staggering, Lucius instantly gave up the argument with Dumbledore.

He just wanted his daughter to go back and have a good rest.

If possible, I would even like to take my daughter home directly.

Dumbledore stared at Lucius and nodded slowly.

He asked Snape to accompany Draco back to Slytherin Hall and signaled Harry to stay where he was.

Before the three of them left, Dumbledore spoke meaningfully.

"Lucius, I told you, I really hope you know what you have done."

Lucius paused.

"To Lord Voldemort, his subordinates are no different from any other living being. They are merely a means to an end."

"It is perfectly normal to sacrifice subordinates in order to revive oneself. Not to mention sacrificing the relatives of subordinates."

The old man said this, not wanting to miss the slightest opportunity to sow suspicion, and he glanced at the man in black from the corner of his eye.

Snape blinked, and Dumbledore realized that he was using Occlumency to suppress his complex emotions.

I remembered the conversation we had after the semester ended.
