Harry Potter: Miss Malfoy
Chapter 44: A Farce on the Brink
After the attack on the library by Harry, Draco became much more restrained.
He didn't dare to frame Harry in order to get rid of Lockhart, and Harry obviously regretted his momentary boldness.
The two finally had a rare simple and peaceful campus life since they entered their first year.
Except for Lockhart's disastrous Defense Against the Dark Arts course.
Lockhart always brought a few magical creatures commonly seen on farms to every class.
Then, in his unique style, he angered these peaceful little magical animals.
This always caused chaos in the classroom, but Lockhart never got tired of it.
Ordinary creatures that will not appear in magical creature breeding textbooks,
Transforming into something as threatening and terrifying as a dark creature seems to be Lockhart's specialty.
Gradually, most of the students, including Draco, Pansy, Daphne, Harry, Ron, and Hermione,
I can only convince myself that I may have understood Dumbledore's good intentions in employing Lockhart.
I guess it is to teach students that even when times are peaceful, they should still be vigilant.
After all, in the most daily life, the dangers that appear inadvertently may be more threatening than real black magic.
The peace lasted for several weeks until Draco's first Quidditch practice.
When I arrived at the Quidditch field with Flynn and the Slytherin team members,
Suddenly, I discovered that the Gryffindor team members were already hovering in the sky.
"'Draco!'"
Pansy and Daphne called out at the same time.
Of course, the two of them didn't want to miss Draco's first practice, so they followed him there.
Hearing the two people's shouts, Draco stopped and looked at his opponent in the air with some worry.
"Don't worry, we have a note from Professor Snape."
Draco had just looked at Flynn when the Slytherin captain showed a confident look and smiled smugly.
"It is also an important strategy to block out the time your opponent spends practicing while you practice yourself."
As Flynn spoke, he looked at his players with pride.
It seems that practicing at the same time as Gryffindor is not a surprise.
Sure enough, as soon as the Gryffindor captain caught sight of the Slytherin members, he led his team and rushed angrily towards the people on the ground who were wearing light black robes with subtle silver-green stripes.
Hermione and Ron, who were originally sitting in the audience, also rushed into the stadium, along with a little boy carrying a camera.
A spark of anticipation ignited in Flynn's eyes.
Pansy saw this, frowned, patted Daphne and Draco, and whispered.
"I think Flynn is just trying to attract Wood's attention..."
Daphne couldn't help but chuckle, but she still couldn't hide her nervousness about the conflict.
Draco sighed helplessly and looked at Harry, who had already landed on the ground with a look of confusion and dissatisfaction on his face.
"Folin! It's our practice time now!"
"We woke up so early for this! Get out of here now!"
"There's plenty of room here for all of us, Wood."
In the face of Wood's rage, Flynn was content and almost enjoyed it.
"But I've already registered for this court! I've already reserved it!!!"
Wood scolded, and Flynn slowly stole out a piece of parchment.
He handed it to Wood without saying a word, and watched his veins bulge as he passed the paper to other Gryffindor players indignantly.
"Anyway, Professor Snape has given us special permission to use the court as we please today—"
Fulin looked at Wood with pride, kept him in suspense for a while, and then solemnly stated the reason.
"To train our new Seeker."
"You found a new Seeker?! Where is he?!"
Wood and the other Gryffindor students showed surprised expressions. Draco could only sigh helplessly again and step forward skillfully.
The Gryffindor players' eyes gathered together, and the Weasley twins could vaguely be heard whispering "Malfoy's daughter".
It was Harry who spoke first, his tone showing some surprise but not the slightest bit of surprise.
"Malfoy?"
In Harry's opinion, it was only a matter of time before Draco was selected for the Quidditch team.
Moreover, judging from Draco's indifferent expression, she obviously didn't care much about the conflict between the two captains.
"By the way, Wood, we not only have a new Seeker, we have a new broom, too."
"Nimbus 2001. The latest model that came out last month, a gift from Miss Malfoy."
Flynn continued to show off his prowess, and the Gryffindor players could only stare in amazement at their opponents' brooms.
After all, apart from Harry's Nimbus which cost two thousand, most of the team members could only afford the more affordable Comet series.
Flynn's attitude made Draco turn around helplessly and look at Pansy and Daphne, with deep dissatisfaction in his eyes.
The two could only show a somewhat helpless expression, secretly complaining about Fulin's performance in their hearts.
The biggest difference between a wealthy family with a long history and a newly emerged aristocratic family is
It is the old family's self-conscious tradition of respecting one's status and never showing off one's wealth.
With what Flynn said, it seemed that Draco's good intention of sponsoring the team was just a show of strength.
Worse still, it almost looked like Draco had bribed the team to be selected.
But even with all these unpleasantness, the Slytherin daughter could only remain silent.
They all knew and were used to another tradition of the nobles—
No matter how much one dislikes it, as long as there are outsiders present, nothing can be said to undermine the position of one's own people.
While the players of both teams were still confused, Ron, Hermione and the boy with a camera also arrived at the stadium.
"Why did you come down here suddenly? And what is she doing here?"
Ron asked dissatisfiedly, but Draco was too lazy to explain.
Just as he was about to turn around and walk back to Pansy and Daphne, Flynn's provocative remarks spread around the stadium again.
"Your team is admiring our new broom, Nimbus Two Thousand and One, from our new Seeker."
Even Ron was stunned.
Flynn smiled, ignored Ron, and continued talking to Wood.
"I see, you don't have to practice this year, Wood."
"Sometimes, hard work can't make up for having complete equipment."
"How many points does it take to give up the game? One hundred and fifty points? This might be a better deal for you guys!"
The aggressive behavior of the bully made Draco even more upset, and he just wanted to end this farce as soon as possible.
She bit her upper and lower lips tightly, closed her eyes tightly, and tried hard not to lose her regret.
"At least Gryffindors don't need the latest broomsticks to show off their prowess."
"They all rely on their real skills in the competition!"
When Draco heard Hermione interrupt and seem to be continuing the argument, he finally couldn't bear it anymore.
"You don't have to get involved in this mess, Granger."
"No need to pretend you know anything about Quidditch, you muggle-born."
As soon as the person who had been silent for a long time opened his mouth, everyone's eyes immediately turned to Hermione.
Seeing Hermione's embarrassed expression, Draco was surprised to find Ron's taped wand pointed at him.
"Speak clearly, Malfoy. If you have the guts to discriminate, stop just using indirect insults!"
In the silence, Ron's roar was like a fuse.
This sparked a new dispute between the two teams, which were already on the verge of a stalemate.
"Malfoy!" "That's what you wanted to say, right!" "That's too much!"
Once Ron enlightened them, the pure-blood wizards of Gryffindor quickly understood.
Fred, George, and the Chasers all shouted in anger.
The Slytherins, led by Flynn, surrounded Draco and kept pushing away the Gryffindor players who were rushing over.
Soon the pushing and shoving turned into a chaos bordering on a scuffle.
But Draco just stood in the middle with a pale face, looking at Harry and Hermione, as well as Daphne and Pansy.
"Draco didn't say that word! Besides, it's not your turn to lecture others."
Pansy spoke coldly to Ron, her tone filled with anxious anger.
Then, without paying any attention to the players who were pushing and shoving, he simply pulled Daphne and protected Draco away together.
When the three of them left, one could still faintly hear the conversation between Harry and Ron amid the roars and shoves.
"What word is that...?"
"She wanted to call Hermione a Mudblood. That was the favorite of dark wizards who used to massacre Muggles...Ah!!!"
Ron screamed before he could finish his words.
The bright light behind them made Draco and the other two turn around, and they discovered that Ron's wand had somehow gone off during the argument, and he flew backwards.
The dispute suddenly ended unexpectedly, and Gryffindor exclaimed in surprise, while Slytherin sneered.
Amid Hermione's exclamations and the sound of endless shutter clicks, Pansy forcefully dragged Draco and Daphne back to the castle.
