Chapter 447 Maggie's Battleground (1)
Della has been away for a month and shows no sign of returning. It seems she will have to attend some more banquets before coming back.
Maggie dislikes this trend, and Della's involvement in Belinda's family gives him a sense of comfort, as if Della has found solace in it.
Especially with Bellinda, that woman's love was pure, and so were her other feelings.
You may not love Bellinda, but you will definitely be dizzy because of Bellinda's brief but wholehearted love for you.
Maggie had been knocked unconscious like that, while Della had always had emotional needs. He always felt that if Della hadn't been in a relationship with Draco during that time, she might have actually been with Bellinda, and they would have been together for a long time.
Although they didn't end up together due to their romantic relationship and age difference, their 'friendship' seemed to last longer than their 'romantic relationship'.
To be honest, Maggie was a little jealous.
But what can you do if you're jealous?
Targeting those close to Della would only escalate the conflict, while targeting Belinda would be suicidal.
Now there's also a little goddaughter. Ugh, it's like Della has a family behind his back.
"problem occurs!"
Just as he was feeling down, the study door was flung open, and Lydia, with whom he had been intimate just two days ago, rushed in, followed by a tall, thin woman.
Maggie knew that woman, Bella, who was infatuated with Voldemort. Before his 'affair' with Lydia became widely known, Bella had subtly inquired whether Lydia was his and Della's mother.
In terms of age, it's actually quite plausible. No matter how much gold Lydia uses every year to ensure that every inch of her skin remains delicate, she is indeed a mother of an eighteen-year-old.
However, compared to Maggie's actual age of several hundred years, Lydia could even be called a child. Moreover, because Edward Abbott spoiled his daughter for decades, Lydia was more willful and domineering than a child most of the time.
So, even though he was intimately involved with a woman who was nominally middle-aged, Maggie felt that he was still touching on youth and vitality.
He prefers proactive and picky people to shy and timid ones, and having a bit of a temper is a good thing.
"What happened? Why are you in such a hurry?" Maggie stood up, walked over and gently pulled Lettia into her arms, fulfilling the comforting duty that a lover should have.
His relationship with Litia ended there; neither of them took responsibility for the other.
“The master invites you over.” Bella looked at Lydia and Maggie, who were embracing each other, and a ripple appeared in her lifeless eyes.
Lydia was her roommate during her school days. Before graduation, they were the two most beautiful flowers in Slytherin, and even after graduation, enough people were attracted by their beauty.
Then they both went into Azkaban, the only difference being that Lydia went in first and was willing to risk everything to leave Azkaban.
But she was never able to leave.
Bella felt she was already very happy because it was her master, her everything, who ultimately rescued her from prison, and Lydia's departure was indeed shameful; she had always despised such a way of abandoning dignity.
But now, standing together, the two women of the same age, one still beautiful, nurtured by wealth and power in her freedom, and the other turned into a skeleton by Dementors.
Even though Lydia would gently comb her hair and complain about her incompetent husband, treating her with the same intimacy she had during her school days, Bella still felt somewhat dazed by the contrast.
Moreover, Lydia even received a response, though it wasn't anything particularly valuable.
Bella's gaze darted between the beauties and handsome men before her, and she said with a forced smile, "Today, the master has arranged a surprise, and you must bring a female companion. As for the choice of female companion, the master mentioned Litty."
“Do you know who he’s after?” Lydia gripped Maggie’s arm tightly. “I don’t want to go. I don’t want to see snakes swallowing corpses bloody again.”
“That’s so sudden, Mrs. Lestrange,” Maggie said, shaking Lydia’s hand dismissively as a gesture of comfort, while simultaneously trying to glean some information from Bella. “Were you in a real hurry? Did something happen?”
“No one can interfere in the master’s affairs,” Bella, who had been displeased by the mention of 'Mrs. Lestrange' but whose words were somewhat related to Voldemort, instantly regained her fervor. She shrieked with laughter, “Go quickly, young master, go and see what Father has to say!”
“Stop it, Bella,” Lydia interrupted Bella’s fervor, not to express her dissatisfaction with the incomplete information, “You know you don’t look good when you laugh like that! Forgot? The haughty, head-held-high laugh is the one that suits us best!”
Even in the face of imminent disaster, she's still thinking about this; Lydia has never truly matured.
Maggie was speechless to the point of wanting to laugh. Bella's expression froze for a moment, and her voice lowered, "Don't worry, Litty, it won't be you anyway."
Upon hearing this, Maggie's head jolted. He knew that he was the one being reprimanded, and considering the phrase "must bring a female companion," he guessed it was... Sheena.
"Is she dead?" Maggie asked Bella.
“Wouldn’t it be better to let the child who made the mistake handle it?” Bella stared at Maggie and smiled slyly.
"Her? Who is she?" Lydia looked up and asked Maggie.
“I have a Muggle female friend,” Maggie said, sighing. “Looks like even just being friends isn’t enough.”
“Friend!” Bella’s voice shrilly. “There’s a limit to being ignorant. Don’t equate lowly beings with us.”
"You've really ruined me!" Lydia yelled back, "If you have someone you like, don't go around bothering others. Now you've dragged me into this mess too!"
"Alright, alright," Maggie waved her hand impatiently at the two women's shrill voices. "Don't worry, Lydia, since it's my business, I'll take responsibility. You just stand there looking pretty."
"Then you'd better keep your word!" Lydia was still glaring at him, showing no intention of sharing joy or sorrow.
“Master invited more than one female companion,” Bella said again, her eyes still showing the disgust and dissatisfaction from before. “You’d better explain to him what makes that Muggle better than a pureblood, young master.”
More than one?
Even Mary traveled a long way to invite him?
Maggie's eyelids drooped, thinking Voldemort was really boring.
They really enjoy humiliating him.
