Siheyuan: The eldest brother of the He family, abuses Shazhu at the beginning
Chapter 71 is full of warmth and happiness
There are all kinds of people living in the courtyard, and their lives are like intertwined lines, weaving colorful pictures. Some of He Yuliang's neighbors came from the south, some are old Beijingers, and some came here for work. Everyone has his or her own story, and each story has found a place to live in this courtyard.
He Yuliang's father was a worker and his mother was an ordinary housewife. They were hardworking and simple, working silently for a living. He Yuliang's childhood memories were full of sunshine and laughter, which were the happy times he spent in the courtyard. Neighbors had dinner, sang and danced together. Although life was simple, it was full of warmth and happiness.
However, as time went by, the changes in the country also brought about changes in life. The storm of the Cultural Revolution swept in, and life in the courtyard was also caught in the vortex. Those neighbors who once lived in harmony began to have contradictions and conflicts because of disagreements. The emergence of the Green Gang and the Black Gang made the people in the courtyard no longer peaceful, and they were forced to choose their own sides.
He Yuliang's family was also affected. His father was classified as one of the "five black categories" because of political issues, and the family became increasingly difficult. Their courtyard house became unsafe, and the Red Guards often came to search and ransack their home, and they lived in fear. But even so, He Yuliang's mother remained strong, supporting the family and giving them warmth and strength.
In that turbulent era, He Yuliang gradually grew up and experienced the ups and downs of life. He made all kinds of friends in the courtyard, some of whom left and some left forever. He learned tenacity and courage here, and learned to face difficulties and challenges.
On an early summer afternoon, the sun shone through the red brick walls of the courtyard and onto the bluestone road. He Yuliang walked leisurely on the road, feeling the cool breeze. He looked up at the familiar eaves, and his thoughts went back to the past.
Suddenly, a pleasant female voice came from behind: "Yuliang, wait!" He Yuliang turned around and saw Lou Xiao'e walking quickly towards him with a hint of anxiety on her face.
"Sister Xiao'e, what's wrong?" He Yuliang asked, looking at the sweat on Lou Xiao'e's forehead, feeling a little worried.
Lou Xiao'e walked over to He Yuliang and said breathlessly, "I found Yan Jiecheng, but his attitude is not very good. I am a little worried."
He Yuliang frowned, feeling a little uneasy about Lou Xiaoe's worries. "Let's go find him together, maybe we can solve the problem." He Yuliang suggested.
The two walked together to a small building in the courtyard where Yan Jiecheng lived. He was a rude-looking but kind-hearted man, an old neighbor in the courtyard.
Arriving at Yan Jiecheng's door, Lou Xiao'e knocked on the door, but there was no response for a while. He Yuliang gently pushed the door open and found it empty. Yan Jiecheng was not at home.
"He is usually at home, how could he be away?" Lou Xiao'e said with some confusion.
He Yuliang frowned and suddenly remembered something: "Maybe he went to the nearby market, let's go and take a look."
The two hurriedly left the courtyard and came to a nearby market. After searching among the crowd for a while, they finally saw Yan Jiecheng at the entrance of a small alley.
"Brother Jie Cheng, why are you not at home?" He Yuliang asked.
Yan Jiecheng looked back at the two of them, with a trace of confusion in his eyes: "Oh, it's you. I came out for a walk and think about things."
"Is there something bothering you?" Lou Xiao'e asked with concern.
Yan Jiecheng was silent for a moment, and finally spoke out his worries: "Business has been bad recently, and some trivial matters at home have made me a little upset."
He Yuliang and Lou Xiao'e felt a little distressed after hearing this. They knew Yan Jiecheng was a hard-working person, but the difficulties in life can sometimes be unbearable.
"Brother Jie Cheng, don't worry too much. Life will get better." He Yuliang comforted.
Yan Jiecheng smiled bitterly and nodded: "Thank you for your concern, I will find a way."
Lou Xiao'e looked at Yan Jiecheng's back, and a warm feeling welled up in her heart. In this courtyard, although everyone has their own troubles and difficulties, everyone cares about and helps each other.
The sun shone through the courtyard wall and onto the bluestone road, casting mottled shadows. He Yuliang and Lou Xiao'e stood at the entrance of the alley, facing Yan Jiecheng, feeling a little anxious.
"Brother Jie Cheng, why are you not at home?" He Yuliang asked with concern.
Yan Jiecheng gave a bitter smile and said, "Some things have been bothering me recently, so I came out to relax."
"Is there something bothering you?" Lou Xiao'e asked, with a hint of worry in her voice.
Yan Jiecheng shook his head. "Business is not going well, and there are some problems at home, which makes me feel a little embarrassed."
He Yuliang and Lou Xiao'e exchanged glances, knowing that everyone has their own difficulties living in such a crowded and complex courtyard, but sometimes, talking and sharing some troubles can relieve the burden in one's heart.
"Brother Jie Cheng, you know, sometimes the problem is not as complicated as we think." He Yuliang consoled, "Maybe we can think from another angle and find a way to solve the problem."
Yan Jiecheng raised his head and looked at He Yuliang, with a glimmer of hope in his eyes, "Do you have any good ideas?"
He Yuliang thought for a moment, then said: "Maybe we can try to do some new business and expand the market."
"New business?" Yan Jiecheng asked hesitantly.
"Yes, for example, the handicrafts or special snacks that are popular recently are all very popular." Lou Xiao'e continued, "You can try to open a small shop in the courtyard, and you may get unexpected gains."
After listening to their suggestions, Yan Jiecheng smiled and said, "Thank you for your suggestions. I will consider it."
"It's okay. We are neighbors and we should help each other." He Yuliang patted Yan Jiecheng on the shoulder. "If you need any help, you can always come to us."
Yan Jiecheng nodded and expressed his gratitude, "I will remember you."
The three of them strolled around the market for a while, chatting about daily life, and gradually put down their worries. Although there are always various difficulties in life, as long as there is the support and encouragement of friends, everything will become easier.
After listening to the suggestions of He Yuliang and Lou Xiao'e, Yan Jiecheng's brows gradually relaxed, as if he had a hint of inspiration.
