Wilderness Redemption Tour

Chapter 345: Panic and no choice of road

"Petah, Petah, where are you?" Seeing his men shaking their heads, Feiying shouted loudly, but what responded to him was the charge sounded in the distance.

"Damn it!" Hearing the charge, Dutch showed a serious look for the first time. He advised Eagle, who was running around anxiously, "The cavalry is coming from the fortress. We have to retreat quickly."

Feiying was surprisingly stubborn at this moment. He said without looking back, "If you want to leave, go ahead. I must find Petah."

In order to find Petah, Feiying even disregarded his own safety. It was obvious that this person held a very important position in his heart.

"Look, there's Petah." At this time, someone in the crowd discovered Petah staggering out from behind a low bush.

"Petah!" Seeing this, Feiying shouted the other party's name and ran towards the other party's position.

At this moment, there was another sound of breaking air in the air, and another shell landed right in front of Dutch's position. The shell landed some distance away from Dutch, so it did not cause any casualties.

"What the hell!" Dutch, who escaped the danger, took a step back and cursed.

Before he finished speaking, the sound of breaking air reached everyone's ears one after another, and more explosions resounded throughout the forest. Not only Dutch, but everyone's face changed.

"What are you all standing there for? Run!" Dutch ran back quickly and called out to the group of young people who were waiting for Feiying and Petah under the gunfire.

"You guys go quickly and don't worry about us." Eagle, who went to support Petah, also ordered this group of persistent subordinates.

"Hurry, let's go first." Dutch forcibly pulled Lin Yan and John away from the battlefield. "A large number of cavalry will arrive soon. If we don't leave now, we won't be able to leave."

"What about Eagle and his men?" John asked him as they ran.

"I can't care about that anymore. I hope they can take care of themselves." While running, Dutch blew the whistle and started calling his horse.

Lin Yan and John, who were running behind, looked at each other. Although they both felt that Dutch's behavior was not authentic, they could not say that Dutch was wrong. They and the Eagles were just a simple cooperative relationship. They could do things together, but not share hardships. After all, the two sides were not that familiar with each other.

"You have to hurry up, John, Jamie." Dutch was running very fast in front, looking back to urge John and Lin Yan while running. His speed was completely different from that of a middle-aged man in his forties.

"Coming." John and Lin Yan responded at the same time and accelerated to catch up.

The three men first mounted their horses halfway up the hill, and then, led by Dutch, quickly fled westward.

When passing a fork in the road, Dutch chose the path on the left without hesitation. "Left, into the woods!"

After turning into this fork in the road and running for a while, Daqi, who was leading the way, slowed down. After walking a few dozen meters, he simply stopped.

Seeing this, Lin Yan quickly asked, "What's going on? Why don't you leave?"

Dutch jumped off his horse and said, "The road ahead is too hard to walk on. Let's dismount and walk from here." As he said that, he reached out and slapped his horse's butt hard, driving it away.

"Drive away your horses too." Dutch said to John and Lin Yan very quickly, "Maybe this will help fool the pursuers behind us."

"Will this work?" John asked.

"This is the only solution I can think of. Hurry up and don't dawdle." Dutch urged impatiently, "If you delay any longer, the enemy will follow the trail and catch up with us."

Time was running out, and John and Lin Yan had no other choice, so they had to follow Dutch's example, slapped their mounts hard on the buttocks, and then followed Dutch and ran forward along the road.

"This is really a bad job. If I had known it would be like this, I wouldn't have come here." John complained in a low voice.

Lin Yan advised him: "Okay, say less, be careful that Daqi hears it."

After running about a hundred meters, downhill and uphill, and then turning a corner along the path under his feet, Lin Yan finally understood why Dachi had just said "horses can't walk on the road ahead", because the flat road in front of him had come to an end, and was replaced by a rugged rocky mountain.

The rock sloped downwards, with no end in sight. Dutch climbed up without hesitation, using both his hands and feet.

"Don't just stand there, keep walking. Either find a place to hide or climb over this pile of rocks." Dutch was like a worried parent at this moment, constantly correcting the behavior of his two children.

Just as Lin Yan stepped onto the first rock, he suddenly heard a burst of hurried horse hooves sounds behind him. John, who was standing next to him, apparently also heard the sound, so he climbed faster.

In the blink of an eye, Lin Yan saw that John was about to catch up with Dutch. In a hurry, he didn't care about his image and walked as fast as he could. But he had only taken a few steps when the sound of horse hooves he had heard just now came closer.

The soldiers on horseback saw Lin Yan and his two companions fleeing in a panic at a glance. Without saying a word, the group of people raised their guns and fired a round of shots at Lin Yan and his companions who were exposed to their sight.

Lin Yan was the closest to them, so most people locked their eyes on Lin Yan. Gunshots were heard, and Lin Yan, who had no way to avoid them, prayed in his heart that the opponent's bullet would miss the target, while he took out his pistol and activated the Eye of Death to fight back.

Dutch and John below stopped climbing after hearing the noise, pulled out their guns and fired back at the soldiers diagonally above them.

"Jamie, keep going, I'll cover you." At the critical moment, Dutch showed his leadership style.

Seeing this, Lin Yan didn't bother to be polite with Dachi, and rushed down at a faster speed than before, rolling and crawling.

The soldiers that caught up were just a cavalry squad with only five members. Lin Yan had just activated the Eye of Death to kill two of them. Dutch and John shot the remaining three to death while protecting Lin Yan. After killing the pursuers, the three of them repeated the same action and sped up again.

Soon, John, who was walking in front, arrived at the "end" of the journey, a huge, flat and protruding rock.

John walked around the boulder in a full circle, then slumped down in disappointment.

"This is a dead end." He said with a sad look to Dachi and Lin Yan who were still unaware of the situation.

Upon hearing this, Dutch took two steps at a time and came to the edge of the boulder. He looked down and then showed the same expression as John.

Seeing the expressions of the two people, and connecting it to the rumbling sound coming from below, even without looking at the map, Lin Yan could guess that this must be the most turbulent section of the Dakota River.
