Wilderness Redemption Tour
Chapter 268 Exchange
"You better hurry up, because I'm counting the seconds now!"
After giving the warning, Arthur ignored the reactions of the prison guards on the opposite wall and started counting the time on his own.
"one two three..."
Just after counting to three, he patted the hostage's shoulder with a murderous look: "Millikan, can you help me count from now on? I have something to say to your 'colleagues'."
"Okay, sir. No problem, sir." The young prison guard named Milliken nodded hurriedly in agreement.
Licking his dry lips, Milliken was about to count when he tilted his head slightly and asked Arthur: "Sir, should I start counting from one or four?"
After hearing this somewhat ridiculous question, Arthur raised his foot and gently kicked Milliken's calf. "Boy, just because I treat you well doesn't mean you can play tricks on me. Start counting from fifteen!"
"Fifteen..." Milliken's Adam's apple moved slightly and he swallowed.
"Sixteen..." His voice began to tremble.
"Seventeen..." The trembling voice turned into crying.
Arthur swayed his body from side to side, keeping his head behind the hostage. "Count faster!" he urged impatiently.
"Eighteen, nineteen, twenty..." Milliken muttered incoherently with his head down and tears streaming down his face. Lin Yan could hardly hear what he said even though he was so close to him, let alone the prison guards in the distance.
Arthur didn't care much about this. Pointing a gun at a person's head and letting him calmly read out the countdown to his own death, there are probably not many people in the world who can do it. His main purpose of bringing this prison guard with him is actually to put pressure on the prison.
"Hurry up, or these poor guys' heads will explode." Arthur shouted at the indifferent prison guard on the wall.
Milliken took the opportunity to wipe his face, and changed his previous weak attitude, shouting fiercely at his colleagues on the wall: "Do you guys really want us to die? Hurry up and bring the two people he wants here, you bastards! Please..." When he said the last sentence, he returned to his previous crying appearance.
"Did you hear that, Callaham? Hurry up and bring the people out!" Seeing this, the hostage in Lin Yan's hand also echoed.
"Bowles, have you forgotten how I treat you? Can you bear to watch me die?" The hostage in Sadie's hand looked at one of the prison guards on the observation platform and spoke.
The prison guards standing on the observation platform looked at each other in bewilderment. Logically, they could not release the prisoners, but also had to find ways to keep the arrogant prison breakers. However, emotionally, the lives of their colleagues and friends were in the hands of others. To save them, they had to follow the enemy's orders. Everyone was in a dilemma and secretly cursed the warden for leaving his post at this critical moment and leaving them to take the blame.
That's right, we have to take the blame, because in the current situation, no matter what decision we make, the result will be bad, it's just a matter of the amount of loss.
"Don't cry, buddy." Hearing Milliken crying, Arthur pretended to comfort him.
"But I don't want to die yet..." Milliken burst into tears.
This move completely ignited the emotions of the other two hostages present. Falling into the hands of others, they could no longer control their expressions after enduring for a long time and started crying.
Several people cried and vented their resentment, saying all kinds of dirty words, complaints, and other random things, everything that could and couldn't be said.
The guards on duty were no longer calm. The scene before them successfully overcame their already insignificant professional ethics. The guard who looked like the manager standing in the middle of the observation platform immediately turned around and commanded one of the men standing behind him, "Go, hand over the person they want to them."
Not long after the man left, two prison guards appeared behind the iron gate of the prison, escorting two prisoners wearing black and white striped uniforms.
"Hey! John!" Arthur greeted John through the iron gate first, then looked at Josiah, who looked a little sloppy because he hadn't taken care of his beard for a long time: "And you, old fox, hello."
Two prison guards opened the prison gate, roughly pushed the two prisoners in their hands out, and then quickly closed the door as if sending out two plague gods.
John and Josiah didn't take each other's attitude seriously after being pushed out. "Hello, too." John stretched his body, looked at the familiar faces in front of him and smiled. Josiah didn't say anything, but bowed slightly to his companions who came to rescue him.
John and Josiah had no restraints on their hands, but their feet were shackled. Seeing this, Sadie cursed at the prison guard in front of her: "You bastards, don't play tricks on me. If you want to save these poor guys, throw down the key to the shackles!" After that, she raised her gun and fired a shot into the sky as a warning.
"I advise you to do as this lady says, otherwise Mr. Milliken in my hand won't be able to cry later." Arthur also threatened the hostage by strangling his neck with his arm.
Upon hearing this, the prison guard in charge reluctantly took off a small key from his waist and threw it in Arthur's direction: "Here you go. After removing the shackles, I hope you and your people will keep your promise."
Seeing the key being dropped, Charles hurried over to pick it up and successfully helped John and Josiah open the shackles.
Seeing this, Arthur released the hostage's arms with a smile, "Don't worry, reputation is equally important in our business." After that, he stretched out his hand and pushed the other party towards the prison gate, "Well, Milliken, you are lucky today, you are free."
Seeing Arthur let the hostages go, Sadie also planned to follow suit and drop the burden in her hand. Seeing this, Lin Yan quickly reminded her: "Hey, don't rush to release them. At least wait until we leave here safely."
Sadie thought for a moment and grabbed the collar of the hostage in front of her again. "Well, you are right."
The hostages in the hands of the two men turned pale after hearing this. They thought that they would be released generously by the hostage-takers like Milliken, but they did not expect that they would have to suffer even more from this group of vicious criminals.
Seeing that Lin Yan and Sadie were reluctant to release the man, the prison guard said in an unhappy tone: "Your companions have kept their promise and released the man. Do you two want to go back on your word?"
Arthur saw all of this, and looked at Lin Yan with a little more appreciation. After hearing what the prison guard said, he walked over to Lin Yan and spoke to help him out: "Of course we will keep our promise, but we can't figure out what you are thinking. This is your territory. If we want to leave here safely, I'm afraid we have to borrow your people."
