Wilderness Redemption Tour
Chapter 156 Robot
At this time, the entire laboratory was almost pitch black because of the sky, and Lin Yan could only vaguely see a rough outline with his night vision.
The whole laboratory was filled with various experimental equipment, but that was not the point. What attracted Lin Yan's attention the most was a round iron cage placed in the center of the laboratory, in which stood a tall humanoid object. However, Lin Yan was sure that it was not a human, first because it had no reaction to the appearance of several people, and second because it was too tall. Lin Yan could determine that its height would not be less than three meters just by visual inspection.
At this moment, a thick lightning bolt formed in the sky above the laboratory. With the brief brightness brought by the lightning bolt, Lin Yan could see clearly what was inside the iron cage. The humanoid figure was leaning against a mechanical device behind it, and a piece of white cloth covered it tightly from head to toe. All the cables extending from the equipment in all directions of the laboratory were concentrated behind the humanoid figure. In this weather, at first glance, it looked like a terrifying ghost figure tied up in a white sheet. Unfortunately, this was not a horror game, and Lin Yan and the others were not brainless explorers who could only scream and run around. Except for Sadie, whose body was slightly tense due to the horror atmosphere here, everyone else was fine.
Professor Dragic took advantage of the fleeting light and quickly walked to a mechanical device and operated it skillfully. The next second, the whole laboratory was bright.
"Ding ding ding! This is my laboratory. How about it? Are you dazzled?" Professor Dragic's face was full of smugness.
"Your place... is quite bright." Arthur took a long time to organize his words before uttering these words.
After seeing the layout of the laboratory, Sadie relaxed. Looking at the bright lightning flashing outside the window from time to time since she entered the room, she added, "It's bright inside, and it's brighter outside."
Unlike Arthur Sadie, Lin Yan, who has lived in modern society since childhood, has little interest in the concept of light. Apart from being surprised by the frequent thunderstorms around the laboratory, he is most interested in what is in the iron cage in the center of the room.
"What is this?" Lin Yan did not rush into the iron cage and lift the white cloth, but pointed at it and asked Professor Dragic.
"Are you talking about this?" Professor Dragic immediately became alert when he heard Lin Yan's question.
"This is my life's work..." he said as he strode over to the cage, opened the door and stood over the object. "I bet it's the most incredible thing you've ever seen."
As he spoke, he reached out, grabbed the white cloth and pulled it hard.
As the white cloth was pulled away, a dark blue robot appeared in front of Lin Yan. The robot's head was an irregular oval, with eyes, ears, nose, and mouth, except for its unusually long chin. There were four dashboards on its chest and waist, one large and three small, but no one present knew what they were for except Professor Dragic himself. The robot's joints were ball joints commonly used in action figures, and the ball heads at the joints were shiny and glossy, indicating that Professor Dragic valued this robot very much.
"You made a...tin man?" This was the first time Arthur had seen a human-shaped object made of steel in his life, except for the medieval armor and cans that people talked about.
Professor Dragic tapped the robot's shell with his fingers. The sound was very dull, indicating that the robot was not an empty shell. "This is my child, the fruit of my life's research. What I showed you today was just a little gadget I made when I was free. My ultimate goal is to give him life and make him a person like us!"
He became more and more excited as he spoke, and with the lightning that appeared outside the window, Lin Yan seemed to see two balls of burning flames in his eyes.
In addition, Lin Yan noticed that Professor Dragic used "he" instead of "it" when referring to the robot, which shows that this somewhat crazy scientist in front of him has already regarded this robot as a human being.
"Ahem...you can turn it into a human?" Arthur looked at this weird mechanical creature in disbelief, then looked at the crazy-looking man next to it, and suddenly felt that his brain was not enough.
Sadie was also surprised by Professor Dragic's "big words", but her reaction was somewhat different from Arthur's. She had a guess about how to make the "tin can" in front of her move by itself.
"Like a car or a train?" she tried to ask.
"No, no, no, it's much more advanced than those guys who run on oil and coal." Professor Dragic waved his hand dismissively. "My child is powered by electricity, and only electricity can give him life."
"Can it move now?" Lin Yan was also a little curious about how a robot of such a huge body could be made to move with just the science and technology from more than a hundred years ago.
"Uh..." Professor Dragic turned his head to look at the weather outside the window and scratched his head uncertainly. "If you really want to see it, I can try..."
Try it? The three of them raised their eyebrows with curiosity. Have you never made it work before? Seeing your confident look, we thought you had already made it work...
Professor Dragic didn't care about the change in the way the people on the scene looked at him. He walked out of the iron cage and nervously walked towards a pile of debris in the corner, at least it was a pile of debris in Lin Yan's opinion. "It's still just the experimental stage. If my calculations are correct, you will witness the birth of a great creation with your own eyes."
"As long as these conductors are handled... they are the structure of life... the grand theory of dynamics... the culmination of all theories..." He muttered something that no one could understand, and took out four metal rods from the pile of things. The two ends of the rods were similar to candlesticks, and a spherical glass was wrapped in the middle.
"Since you want to see it, then help me do something." He walked up to Lin Yan and Arthur holding the four strange-shaped metal rods and handed them to them one by one. "Help me adjust these things. Only by ensuring sufficient power can we witness the miracle."
"Oh, by the way, you have to take this too." As he said that, he took a strange instrument with a coil on top and a dashboard on the bottom from the laboratory table next to him and handed it to Arthur.
"This is a detector. You will use it to search for static electricity fields nearby. You can find the best location based on the intensity of the flickering filament on the detector. Once you find it, just insert the lightning rod in your hand into that place. One static electricity field corresponds to one lightning rod. Once you have inserted four, you can come back and witness the miracle."
