Wilderness Redemption Tour
Chapter 117 Harmonica
After taking a photo of Flaco Hernandez, Lin Yan and Sadie searched the camp carefully. In addition to alcohol and cigarettes, Lin Yan also found a gold bar in the lockbox under Flaco's bed. Although the harvest was not large, it was better than nothing.
In addition, what Lin Yan cared about most was the pistol on Flaco's waist.
The handle of this cowboy revolver has been replaced with ivory material, and the gun body is engraved with lifelike skull patterns, which makes people feel that it is valuable at first glance.
After playing with it in his hand for a while and taking out a few bullets to test its power, Lin Yan discovered that this gun was just an embroidered pillow. Apart from looking better, its power, accuracy, and ease of use were no different from those of an ordinary cowboy revolver.
"Tsk! I thought this skin would have some attribute bonus, but it turns out to be a useless thing." After secretly complaining, Lin Yan casually threw the gun into the space bag.
Looking at the half-roasted meat still left by the campfire, Lin Yan smiled and said, "It seems that we came at a good time. Look, lunch is ready."
Sadie carefully observed the dead animal beside the fire, sniffed, rubbed her hands and said, "This should be a deer."
"Oh? I haven't eaten venison yet. I must try it later."
As he spoke, Lin Yan took out a knife, cut a piece of red meat and put it into his mouth.
"Hmm... a bit fishy, a bit smelly, and a bit woody. Not very tasty." Lin Yan commented while chewing.
"No way, I feel that venison tastes better than beef and mutton." Sadie said, and she cut a piece with a knife to taste it.
As soon as she put it in her mouth, her brows frowned, and the more she chewed, the tighter her brows frowned. In the end, she directly spat out the food in her mouth.
"Pooh!"
"These guys can't even roast meat properly. They really deserve to die."
Lin Yan, who was preparing the dipping sauce, couldn't help but shudder when he heard this comment. He raised his hand to wipe the non-existent sweat from his forehead, and suddenly felt like he had survived a disaster.
Good thing I’m now a mid-level chef and the food I cook is pretty good, otherwise I would be treated the same as these guys sooner or later.
He simply ordered two servings of dipping sauces and barely finished the lunch with Sadie. After resting for a while, Sadie took Lin Yan towards her home.
When passing by Lidao Village, Lin Yan and Sadie found that this small village with only one family and four decent buildings had been occupied by a group of homeless people who came from nowhere. After discovering that there were only two passers-by, the homeless people looked at them with a look that changed from indifference at first to burning enthusiasm later. The change in expression on their faces was so natural that even an Oscar winner would feel ashamed when seeing it.
When Sadie realized that the situation was not good, she decisively drew out her two guns, aimed at the one who stood out among the group, and pulled the trigger without hesitation.
Seeing their companions being shot and falling, this group of people had no intention of resisting and immediately scattered like birds and beasts, no longer having the intention of robbing.
Lin Yan had seen all kinds of people these days, and he knew that these ragged guys were only one weapon away from being robbers, so he did not have the slightest sympathy for these people, and only felt that everything was their own fault.
After passing through Lidao Village, Shadi turned northeast and after more than two hours of trekking, they finally reached their destination.
Sadie's house had been burned down in the fire, and now only the outline of the original house could be seen from a few wooden piles standing around the house.
Sadie, who was revisiting the place, stood there in a daze for a long time, looking at the burned-down house in front of her.
Lin Yan understood the feeling of losing a loved one, so he did not speak to comfort the other party at this time. In his understanding, the pain of losing a loved one cannot be soothed by a few words from others. It mainly depends on the person himself to comfort himself. All he can do is to accompany him as a friend.
Lin Yan leaned against the only intact stable nearby, quietly waiting for Sadie to say goodbye to her past, her old life, and the person she loved most. Half an hour later, Sadie, who had been standing quietly in the snow, suddenly sobbed without any warning, covering her face. This was the first time Lin Yan saw this woman, who looked as strong as she was inside, cry.
The sobbing only lasted for a short while. After venting her anger, Sadie wiped her face and calmly walked into the ruins of the house which was mostly covered by snow.
Lin Yan saw her carefully crawling over the burnt wood, then bending down and groping for something, as if she was looking for something.
"Are you looking for something? Do you need help?" Lin Yan walked over and asked.
Sadie poked her head out from the ruins. Her eyes were slightly red and she said in an even hoarser voice, "A harmonica. It was the first birthday gift that Yake gave me after I got married. I want to find it and keep it with me as a reminder."
Lin Yan dodged a beam and walked into the ruins. "Where was its original approximate location? Was it near you?"
Sadie stood up and marked an area in the air.
"I remember it was originally placed in a jewelry box on the bedside table with my jewelry. Now the fire has made a mess of the house. I can only guess that it is somewhere within this range."
After Lin Yan joined the search, he and Sadie worked together to move the crossbar that had smashed in this place little by little. After a while, Sadie found the jewelry box that had been burned black by the fire.
Sadie opened the square wooden box with trembling hands. Lin Yan, who was standing beside her, saw that most of the jewelry in the box had turned black due to the scorching fire. On the edge of the jewelry box, a small harmonica lay quietly. The front of the harmonica, which was made of mahogany, was almost intact.
Seeing that most of the silver ornaments in the jewelry box had turned black, Sadie's brown eyes dimmed a little. But when she saw that the harmonica she had been thinking about was almost intact, her eyes burst into a different light.
She stretched out her hand and wanted to take it in her hand to examine it carefully, but when she saw her dark palm, she consciously retracted it.
With a "pop", Sadie closed the jewelry box and held it carefully in her arms.
Looking up at the dark sky, Sadie suggested, "Let's rest here tonight."
After saying that, she looked at Lin Yan and then burst out laughing.
Lin Yan felt a little puzzled. He touched his face and said in confusion, "Just go to sleep, why are you laughing?"
Seeing his action, Sadie laughed even more happily. She held the jewelry box in one hand, opened the other hand and shook it at Lin Yan, laughing: "Your face... is about to become as black as my hand... "
