Traveling through The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim
Chapter 50 Important things
Anis was still sitting on the chair, and Helgi stood behind her. She didn't ask me to sit down, so I just stood aside, like a student who had made a mistake and was waiting to be reprimanded by the teacher. I had already guessed what she would ask me first. Since the time travel, every time I wanted to do something based on the spoilers of the game, I would be asked this question. So, as expected:
"How do you know me?"
"Official intelligence. I am a member of Lord Falkreath's court. We conduct reconnaissance of the territory and border areas. Reports indicate that a female mage named Annis lives alone on the north shore of Irinata Lake. The threat level is assessed as no threat. So when Helgi mentioned the name, I offered to bring her to you."
After hearing me say that she was “not a threat”, Annis snorted, “I heard from Helgi that you wanted to take her to your Nord city?”
"I think you may not fully understand what Helgi means. First of all, it's not what I think. I fully respect Helgi's own choice. This child has just suffered a terrible change. She needs help to heal the trauma..."
"The best way to heal her wounds is to destroy her enemies!"
"Even if that's the case, she currently lacks the ability to do so..."
"I could teach her magic! Reachman magic! What can you Nords teach her?"
I took a deep breath. How could this old woman be so uneducated? In the game, she at least pretended to be nice, but now she was completely hysterical and crazy.
"If you don't want to listen to me, then don't ask me questions; if you ask questions, you should wait for my answer. You have interrupted me twice in a row. My country is being invaded by the enemy. I have no interest and patience to listen to your nonsense! I will leave after dawn. If you have nothing else to do, then I will go back to have tea."
Anis stared at me angrily. She seemed to instinctively want to refute a lowly man. If I didn't put forward my opinion, she would have nothing to say. As soon as I opened my mouth, she couldn't help but interrupt me. Seeing that she was reluctant to speak, I simply sat on the ground and asked Helgi to help watch my pine needle tea. The little girl quickly brought the pot of tea over and poured a large cup for each person.
"I hope you won't interrupt me again. I said that I would fully respect Helgi's choice and leave immediately after daybreak. What I want to say is that Helgi currently does not have enough ability to seek revenge, let alone become an excellent tribe leader. I certainly know that you have the ability to teach her magic, but she can't learn how to lead the tribe from you. With all due respect, Helgi's current situation is precisely because her mother lost control of the tribe."
"That's because of you cunning and stupid men!" Annis finally couldn't help but interrupt.
"It is impossible for a person to be both stupid and cunning, impulsive and patient. The difference in intelligence between men and women is not that big. It is not difficult for you to understand this truth as long as you are calm. So let me say that first of all, your knowledge level is not enough to educate Helgi by yourself. She must learn more knowledge to avoid repeating her mother's mistakes. Someone in the tribe has successfully seized power through conspiracy, so it is inevitable that more people will want to follow suit. Can you kill everyone in the tribe? If not, do you know how to control these people?"
"Secondly, if the Nord city you are talking about refers to the town of Helgen, then I have to tell you that you are extremely wrong. Helgen is currently settling hundreds of refugees from the Reach Territory, most of whom are Reach people. They can own their own properties and do not need to change their beliefs. Baron Helgen himself grew up in the Reach Territory. The best friend of the Baron's daughter once suffered a disaster of being wiped out because of treating the wounded Forsworn. The so-called Nord city is just your narrow conjecture based on your own judgment of others. This concerns the honor of the Baron and us, and I must explain it to you!"
"Finally, even if you have the ability to take back control of the tribe now, how are you going to deal with the two leaders of the rebellion? If the tribe loses its only Thorn Heart, what can you use to fight against the army that can easily kill the Black Wing Witch? With such a short vision, you still brazenly talk about destroying the enemy? Do you know what you are going to face?"
Annis could no longer get a word in. Her face turned red and white. She subconsciously picked up the cup and took a sip, but spat the tea onto the ground. "What the hell is this? It tastes so bad!"
Helgi secretly made a face at me behind her back, drinking tea and watching the show. I didn't want to completely ruin the relationship. Although Annis's knowledge was limited, she was an elder who cared about Helgi after all, as can be seen from the fact that she wanted to send a letter to persuade Helgi to leave the tribe. Moreover, she mentioned in the letter that she had other sisters. If we can establish a good relationship with them, they will be a great help. Most of Tullius's battle mages were defeated by Alduin. As long as we have one or two mages, we can establish a great advantage.
Annis splashed the tea in the cup fiercely, "What do you want?"
"If Helgi is willing, I will take her to Helgen Town. If you are worried, you can come with us. Helgi is free to choose the education she wants to receive, whether it is magic, combat, or the art of management. We actually have a common enemy, that is, the Thalmor and their lackey empire. My original intention of going to Sunny Garden Fortress was to form an alliance with the Forsworn and drive the invaders out of our respective homes. Our intentions remain unchanged. Falkreath is willing to see you or Helgi regain control of the tribe and support the Snake Cliff Ridge tribe to regain its territory, but I reiterate that the enemy is very powerful, and only unity can bring the possibility of victory."
"I'm not leaving. I'm waiting for someone."
"And what about Helgi?"
"Helgi can come with you, but she needs to come stay with me for a week every month so I can teach her magic."
The little girl did not try to hide her excitement. Anis could only sigh and shake her head. As I walked towards the tent, she stopped me again, "I have to add one more condition. Helgi cannot marry anyone in your city."
"Marriage is a matter of personal choice. You just need to tell her about this condition."
Crossing Lake Irinata was the fastest way, but we didn't have a boat, so we had to go around Riverwood again. After just one day, the atmosphere in the town had completely changed. The gate to the west was closed, and the number of guards on the street doubled. This time I took the initiative to take Helgi to find Frodner to play with the dog. After all, it's easier to talk to a child.
"The Imperials have already conquered Falkreath. They may attack us at any time. Dorthy is helping her father check the soldiers' armor. Stamp and I are going to patrol the south gate and can't play with you."
Stamp is the dog's name. Helgi looked disappointed, so I had to give up my plan to scout westwards and head straight out of the south gate towards Helgen Town. Following the winding mountain road, we soon arrived at the northern Flying Watchtower. I had told Helgi to be ready for battle, as this should be a bandit camp. The little girl held the bow in her left hand and an arrow in her right hand, and my oath sword was unsheathed.
There were no bandits in the sentry tower, but soldiers from Helgen were stationed there. The brother on duty recognized me and greeted me warmly. When we first entered Helgen, Rigel wanted to take over the North and South Flying sentry towers. The two sentry towers are located on the top of the mountain in the north, overlooking Ximu Town to the north, Helgen Town to the south, and Orphan Rock to the east. The location is very important. However, at that time, Helgen was in a state of disrepair and lacked manpower, so no action was taken.
There is a tunnel connecting the two towers, which can save us the detour of climbing the mountain. It was already dark, so we simply rested here for a night and returned to Helgen the next morning. There were already many people living in the town. The residents of Falkreath City had retreated here. There were not enough houses, so many people lived in tents. It was close to the winter solstice, but it was a sin. I led Helgi straight to the castle and pushed open the door of Rigel's room. The little saber-toothed tiger was sitting behind the table, chewing on a pile of papers. It looked like some tricky reports. She didn't even raise her head when she heard the door open.
"Can't you just knock on the door? There doesn't seem to be any problem at the Flying Watchtower. You can leave tomorrow, and when you get there..."
She finally realized that it was me who came in.
"You scared me to death! You bastard! I'm glad you're okay... Who is this?"
"This is Helgi, the Forsworn of Sungarden Fortress."
"What do they mean? Just send a kid over here?"
"The alliance failed. She is a prisoner. We escaped together."
"So she's going to live in town too, right? There's no room available now. She might have to share a tent with others. You're really going to make trouble for me. Lucia! Lucia!"
Rigel yelled into the corridor, and Lucia quickly came running over, gently bending her knees.
"You take this, uh..."
"Helgi."
"Take this Miss Helgi with you and go find Eddie and see if he can squeeze out a bed in the room. If not, ask him to help find a solution."
"Yes, ma'am."
"Oh, right! Take this." Rigel turned around and grabbed a bulging purse from the table. "Give this to Lund and tell him not to come looking for me. Let's go to Creekwood Town right now and order all their wood and food. After you find a place to stay, take Helgi for a good walk around the town. Lord Locke and I have something important to discuss. Do you understand?"
Lucia nodded, bowed again, and led Helgi away. Rigel locked the door and began to have a frank and in-depth conversation with me about important matters...
