New Year’s Eve arrived as scheduled.

Having cleared away the haze that had been hanging over her head, the proprietress was in a particularly good mood.

He was busy running around humming a little tune early in the morning, and even went out to buy firecrackers that could make 10,000 explosions.

When Shi Li saw her coming back carrying the lump of red, he took several steps back.

"What's wrong with you?" The proprietress noticed that her expression was not right and moved closer to ask.

Shi Li glanced at the boy who was not more than three meters away from her, pointed at the firecrackers and said weakly, "Can you please not set them off... I'm scared."

There is no other way, I have to take the blame for the sake of the boy.

"Afraid of firecrackers?" The lady boss didn't expect this to be the reason. She looked back at the firecrackers she had just bought and sighed with some regret. "Well, I wanted to get rid of the bad luck, but since you're so scared, forget it."

She didn't dwell on it and gave the newly bought firecrackers to her neighbor. After returning home, she kindly said to Shi Li, "Then go to bed early at night. Although we don't set off firecrackers, other families will."

Shi Li knew that there were definitely more people setting off firecrackers here than in her hometown. She agreed timidly, then glanced at the boy with concern.

He was very different from before, looking calm and composed, as if he was not afraid at all.

The New Year's Eve dinner for two was quite lively, and the smile on the proprietress's face was genuine.

When the clock struck midnight, Shi Li stood up to wish the boss lady a happy new year. The boss lady directly took out a red envelope and said, "Here you go."

Shi Li was surprised and refused several times. Finally, she accepted the red envelope when the proprietress looked unhappy and scowled. Her face turned red.

Just as I was about to speak, the sound of firecrackers outside continued to be heard.

The proprietress quickly glanced at Shi Li and said, "Are you scared? Go back to your room quickly. If you can't, cover your ears with a blanket."

Shi Li didn't see the boy around and was a little worried about him. She followed the proprietress's instructions and walked into her own cabin, where she saw the boy standing alone in the corner.

He was originally covering his ears, but when he saw Shi Li come in, he actually put his hands down stubbornly.

"Why are you pretending in front of me?" Shi Li was angry and amused. She walked up to him, took out two simple earplugs that she had secretly made, stood on tiptoe and stuffed them into the boy's ears.

She didn't know if this would work, but it wouldn't hurt to give it a try.

Of course, the boy's fear of firecrackers did not just come from the sound, but looking at Shi Li's focused look, his attention seemed to be attracted.

When Shi Li put down her hand, he gently held her hand.

"Can I hold your hand for a moment?" His voice was soft, like flying catkins, with a hint of uncertainty.

Shi Li softened her heart almost as a matter of course, but when she thought about being locked around the waist before, she couldn't help but say, "Then be gentle."

[What a terrible dialogue, what a pure love scene, hahaha! ]

[I give up. Such a young man is hard to find in the world~~~]

[It is indeed hard to find a boy who is genuine and can be replaced with a fake one 0 0]

The sound of firecrackers continued for more than half an hour, one after another.

The boy just held Shi Li's hand quietly, wearing the simple earplugs she made of cotton. Later, Shi Li was really sleepy, so she pulled him to the bed.

She lay down and he sat on the edge of the bed. Since she didn't need to sleep, she wouldn't feel sleepy.

The boy's fear of New Year's Eve and firecrackers had not diminished, but seeing Shi Li right beside him, holding her hand firmly, he actually felt at ease.

But on this day of family happiness, there are some people who have nowhere to go and wander around the city in a destitute manner.

Brother Shi was wearing a cotton-padded jacket that was so worn out and dirty that the color could not be seen. He was skinny and huddled in a construction site that had been closed for the New Year.

The workers all went home for the New Year and there was no one watching here, so he climbed over the wall and found a place to shelter from the wind.

He had long spent all the money he had stolen from home and was wandering around penniless. He also followed others in stealing and robbing, but he was often discovered and was nearly taken to the police station several times.

Every time he couldn't stand it anymore, Brother Shi would curse everyone in the Shi family in his heart. He felt that the reason he was living such a miserable life was all because of the Shi family.

His parents’ partiality, the birth of his younger brother, and even his anger at Shi Li’s threats.

They all owe him!
