Half-elf Notebook

Chapter 5 Graduation

She was a woman with burgundy hair and golden eyes, about twenty to twenty-five years old. She was wearing a regular black teacher's uniform and was tending to the potted plants in front of the store.

Her delicate white skin and pretty face are enough to make most men strive for a single glance at her.

The long-lost but familiar voice made Mika Si put down the flowers she was tending to, which was rare, and look at the busy street. The bunch of white hair that was particularly conspicuous among the many colors made her quickly find the little clever ghost that was loved and hated.

Ina walked closer, and perhaps because they hadn't seen each other for a long time, before the white-haired girl could say anything, the lady had already hugged the girl in her arms.

"Little guy, you are really going too far. You said you would take a year off and you really didn't come to see the teacher once a year." Meikes said resentfully while smoothing the girl's hair:

Ina, who was originally buried deep in the snow-capped peaks of Meikos, suddenly poked out her little face, stuck out her tongue at the other party, then broke free from Meikos's embrace and took a few steps back.

"That's because I'm too busy. Just studying "Basic Theory of Magic and Magical Power", "Arrangement of Primary Magical Arrays", and "Apprentice's Magical Knowledge and Practice" has given me a headache. I wish I could just fall asleep every day."

"You are such a clever little bastard with so many excuses." Meix lifted her hair and asked, "Are you here alone?"

Ina blurted out on the spot: "There was also an uncle, but I don't know where he is now. Maybe he was seduced away by a big-breasted older sister."

"That's interesting, and you're quite good at making up stories. Come on, little girl, your pocket money will be cut in half this month!" Rick, who arrived shortly after her, interrupted the girl's prepared wonderful speech in a concise and clear manner by rubbing her hair.

"Good morning, Ms. Oluer." Rick looked at this lady who was not only a knowledgeable teacher but also a bronze-level professional.

No one knows why a scholar can achieve a rank that is difficult for ordinary professionals to reach.

Perhaps only the high-level alchemical potions that the great nobles can afford can explain this.

As for why a descendant of a great noble would come to a remote small frontier city to teach, Rick didn't care much.

"Good morning, Mr. West." Meix nodded politely in response.

At this time, after some struggle, Ina finally broke free from Rick's hand. Even though her long hair had been mostly ruined, she had to rub it out herself under Rick's gaze.

Meix was not so bored as to interrupt the interaction between the two. She waited patiently for the girl to finish combing her hair before she took out a booklet with a brown cardboard cover from her pocket and handed it to Ina.

Skill certificates are the result of the only agreement reached by the Federation over the past few hundred years when almost all of the human race became independent nations and established rules and standards. Ordinary people use them to prove their professional abilities. Due to strict assessment and wide recognition, they are often used by ordinary people to apply for jobs, even decent jobs.

Even if some holders of advanced certificates do not possess the slightest bit of extraordinary ability, their status can still be on par with high-level extraordinary people.

What Meicus gave Ina was the "Human Common Language Certificate" that she had obtained a year ago. With this brown booklet, the white-haired girl could at least try to apply for a job as a trader, or a traveling merchant in a medium or large chamber of commerce.

"Oh!" Ina responded, but because of the influence of her life in the slums, she was not too excited.

In the slums, especially among the vagrants, the most effective things are always hard fists and broken knife heads, followed by money.

"Nothing to tell me?"

"?" The girl, who didn't understand, tilted her head, which made Meikesi hold her forehead and sigh.

In the end, she hugged the girl.

"Don't you really consider furthering your knowledge and becoming a businessman or a teacher?" Her eyes revealed concern and worry. No adventurer can be sure that he will be able to complete this mission, tomorrow, or come back alive from the next battle.

But at the same time, she knew very well that the white-haired girl would not change her target because of a few random words.

"If I hadn't awakened my magic power, I might have made this choice..." Ina glanced at Rick beside her.

"I still want to be an adventurer, like Rick!"

"Well, it's time for us to go..." Rick interrupted the farewell rather tactlessly. He could see that Meicus was concerned about and reluctant to leave Ina, but it would not be a good thing for anyone if it dragged on any longer.

He took the girl's hand and after a few final greetings, walked towards the crowd.

"Teacher Meix, when I become an adventurer, remember to prepare an apple pie for me." Ina waved goodbye.

"May the Goddess of Dawn bless you, little one." Meikesi watched them leave until they disappeared into the crowd.

And at this moment, as if everything was planned, when Meicus finished saying goodbye, two men in black robes walked out from the shadow of the classroom store at the right time, or they had been waiting there long ago.

They placed their right hands on their chests and asked respectfully:

"Ms. Eric, everything is ready. Can we go now?"

Meikesi turned around with a slightly disgusted look, raised her eyebrows, and asked sarcastically: "Why? You haven't been back to your family for a few years. Do you want other families to send a few people to come and see you?"

"If our actions displease the young lady, I am very sorry." One of them bowed slightly again. "But please don't misunderstand, we are only doing this to ensure the young lady's safety, and I think the young lady should not pay so much attention to communicating with civilians. You are from the Eric family..."

"Shut your mouth! Guards!" Meikes stared at the man in black robe who was speaking with her beautiful eyes wide open and interrupted him directly.

"I spoke too much. Please forgive my mistake." The man in black robe trembled all over after being scolded. He bowed carefully again and dared not say anything else.

At this moment, the crowd suddenly became agitated. A carriage pulled by two red-haired, two-meter-tall horses knocked down several civilians and stopped right in front of the store.
