Hello, Arknights

Chapter 52: Shrimp Heartbreak

Facts have proved that the dog is wrong. The wolf cub (let's use this term to define this wolf beast whose growth level is questionable) takes almost as much time to bathe itself as a human. Anyway, after Ling Dengxian got ashore, the little guy was still paddling happily in the water.

"Is it possible that they have already finished washing and are now playing?" Xiaoxie said that if you wash slowly, just forget it and don't make excuses.

"Okay, okay, I'd better go find some fish and shrimp nearby to fill my stomach first since I don't have much dry food. You can't understand--" Ling Dengxian took out a set of clothes from his backpack and put them on. What Yeban said was right. Originally he brought five sets of clothes, but after going through the Storm Wolf Pack, he only had this set of clothes on and the set of wear-resistant clothes given by Horn.

Seeing Ling Dengxian coming ashore, Chi Yu also paddled up after a few struggles, and shook off the water on his body with the standard canine family shaking-off action. After taking another glance to confirm what Ling Dengxian was going to do, he took small steps to bask in the sun.

Ling Dengxian found an area with lush aquatic plants. As soon as he walked over, he heard the sound of water. He continued to move forward and pushed aside the grass and found a hole, the opening of the lake, and a small river rushed into the woods.

Unlike the rocky shores of the lake, the banks of this stream were covered in mud and silt. More importantly, he found signs of food.

"Shrimp hole!" Ling Dengxian was extremely excited, but after thinking about it, he did not start digging right away. He went back to the edge of the woods to find a suitable branch, and after a simple processing, he returned to his backpack and found some animal meat to make a few simple fishing rods, targeting small to medium-sized fish (Terra usually calls them "scales"). He then took out a knife that obviously had a story and dug a hole. Then he happily went back with a cloth bag to dig out the shrimps.

The shrimps in this world are two or three times larger than those in the original world. This is not the first time that Ling Dengxian has dealt with these guys. Although not every hole has these overwintering shrimps, Ling Dengxian has still harvested more than 20 of them after searching along the way, including a crab that he accidentally found when turning over rocks.

These clawed crustaceans are generally referred to as claw beasts, but these species are all small edible types, which are very different from the large beasts that can gather together to attack humans.

Today is a rare sunny day in winter. Ling Dengxian threw these stiff ingredients into the pit and went to check if the main ingredients had taken the bait.

Chi Yu stood up and shook his fur again, and went to find firewood for making a fire without Ling Dengxian's reminder.

Ling Dengxian felt that the relationship between himself and Chi Yu was a little subtle. Anyway, this guy was definitely not his tamed beast, but more like a partner in the same industry. He knew nothing about this guy's purpose, but instinctively felt that he was not a threat.

He hit three of the five shots, which were neither too big nor too small, just enough to fill his stomach. He was very glad that he had learned this trick from Bruno when he was in town, otherwise he would have to go hungry many more times on the way.

The movements of stacking firewood were no longer unfamiliar to him. After washing the knife, he began to process the ingredients. The wounds on his hands had taught him how to do these things - even though they had been healed by the flames.

Ling Dengxian looked at the firewood in his hand and sighed. He really hoped that he could use his Originium skills to light it, which would save a lot of effort.

Unfortunately, he could only make fire with the flint he brought with him.

"Don't complain in your heart. Without this white flame, you may not be able to get anywhere." Xiaoxie was right, but he was a little unwilling to accept the fact that a ball of flame could be used to heal wounds.

"You can't change your ability, but its development and application are as important as intensive training. No matter how bad the cards in your hand are, you have to find a way to combine them to defeat the enemy." Xiaoxie rarely gave a useful suggestion. Ling Dengxian didn't feel anything strange, so he nodded in agreement, but he felt like something was wrong.

"By the way... why don't you follow Duva to Casimir and then follow a caravan to Longmen? If you want to hone your skills, it would be about time by then, right?" Xiao Xie suddenly asked.

Ling Dengxian paused for a moment, then seemed to think about it, and said: "After all, I have Dua protecting me no matter what, I still want to practice more..."

"But isn't there still Chi Yu?"

"It's different after all." Ling Dengxian reluctantly found an excuse, and then Xiaoxie snorted and stopped asking questions, but pointed out that a shrimp was about to escape from the pit.

Ling Dengxian did not stop moving. It was Xiaoxie who suggested that he follow the caravan. Although he refused, he would not tell the reason. Just like when Xiaoxie suggested that he follow Fengdi, he was attacked by a strange feeling of uneasiness and refused as if instinctively.

What's going on... Ling Dengxian shook his head and put these thoughts behind him. Now he had to pay attention to the shrimp in the small pot and the grilled fish on the grill at the same time.

The diligent Ling was finally able to eat a hot meal. Fish meat still required some patience. Chi Yu symbolically followed him and took a bite of shrimp meat and then stared at the grilled fish. It was not that Ling Dengxian's cooking skills were bad, but she knew that at least two of the three fish were going to go into her stomach. If she was greedy again, Ling Dengxian would have nothing to eat.

Ling Dengxian raised his eyebrows, then smiled with satisfaction. After eating a shrimp to satisfy his craving, he slowly peeled the shrimp meat into the bowl beside him, intending to eat it all at once. After his oily fingers were hurt by the shrimp shell, he breathed a sigh of relief and looked down at the bowl beside him. His pupils suddenly shrank: "Why is there less!"

He was very sure that after counting the shrimps in his hands, a quarter of them were missing!

Chi Yu heard the noise and glanced back, but just blinked curiously and turned his head back to continue staring at the grilled fish and dried hair.

Ling Dengxian immediately raised the bowl to check if there was any flaw on the bottom of the bowl, then he felt his hand lighten and it seemed that another shrimp was missing.

He immediately turned around in horror and found that there was no one there. Then he heard the sound of clothes rubbing. When he turned back, he was startled by a blue figure.

"Hello, Lone Traveler. I'm just kidding you." Her deep blue eyes glowed with mystery. Her medium-length blue hair was gathered to one side of her shoulder with one hand. The black hooded jacket made the girl look a little slender. The most eye-catching thing was the black horns growing on both sides of her head and the dim halo on her head.

"Who are you?" Ling Dengxian couldn't understand why the other party could quietly find his way to the seat opposite him, and he had already searched around and there shouldn't be anyone there!

"I'm a gourmet messenger passing by." The other party smiled and said, "What you cooked looked delicious, so I couldn't help but eat some.

"Don't worry, I will pay you accordingly."

"Are you Sakota? You look so weird." Ling Dengxian still looked at the other party in surprise. The other party had both halo and horns, which made him unsure.

"Would you like to guess?" The girl did not answer, still with the same smile on her face, and put the shrimp into her mouth with the hand that took off the glove.

"Hey wait, put my shrimps down first!" Ling Dengxian was anxious.

"Well, I've already eaten. There's nothing I can do." The mysterious blue-haired girl raised her eyebrows and spread her hands. Seeing that Ling Dengxian was not calm, she immediately waved her hand to signal him to wait a moment: "I have money here. I won't eat for free."

"The key is that I don't need money now... Forget it, you can just share some of your dry food with me, and we can take turns eating..." Ling Dengxian calmed down when he thought that the other party could touch him without him noticing and could also slip away easily, so as to avoid losing more than he gained.

"But I wanted to buy some from you because I ran out of dry food." The girl smiled harmlessly.

Ling Dengxian's mood suffered a severe blow.
