Lanzhou, what is the first thing that comes to your mind when you mention this city?

I don’t know what others are thinking, but the first impression in Luo Nianzhong’s mind is Lanzhou ramen.

But when I arrived in Lanzhou, I realized that the Lanzhou ramen I had eaten before was all pirated.

In Lanzhou, Lanzhou beef noodles are sold in every street and alley, but there is no Lanzhou ramen.

"This bowl of beef noodles has at least 300 grams of meat in it? Is it really 50 cents?"

"Hey, Mr. Luo, you don't know that prices here are cheap, and the corresponding wages are also low.

Even though such a big bowl costs only 50 cents, not everyone can eat it every day."

"No way? I didn't know until I came here. After I came here, I was really shocked. The development of Lanzhou is so great that I would believe it if they said it was an open coastal city. The development of this city is at the level of first- and second-tier cities along the coast."

The road is wide and there are tall buildings on both sides, but you can still see them.

In terms of the city center, many fourth- and fifth-tier cities will be inferior to it in forty or fifty years.

Luo Nianzhong has never been to Lanzhou, but in his stereotype, the northwestern region is slightly backward.

Especially in this day and age, no one would have thought that this would be the case. You know, development costs money.

"Mr. Luo, you're too polite. You've seen all kinds of situations."

Luo Nianzhong was not being polite, but since the Governor of Gansu had said so, there was no need for him to talk more about this topic.

For him, it would be better to eat a bowl of beef noodles instead.

I'm not trying to be pretentious, it's really delicious.

Seeing that Luo Nianzhong wanted another bowl, the governor accompanied him and explained.

"The beef noodles in Lanzhou are characterized by one red, two white, three clear, four green and five yellow.

Red refers to the secret chili red oil, which is made from local chilies and added with secret Chinese herbal medicine, sesame, etc. It is so fragrant.

The second white is the white radish. The green radish slices are soaked in broth and have a juicy and sweet taste.

Sanqing is a soup base, all of which are made from broth boiled from beef stocks, which is fragrant, fresh and sweet.

The four greens are garlic sprouts, a handful of green garlic, crispy, sweet and refreshing.

The last five yellows are the yellow noodles. The ramen chef repeatedly kneads, squeezes and pulls the noodles to maximize their stretch, making them chewy and smooth to eat.

Our Lanzhou beef noodles are divided into large wide, second wide, leek leaf, and capillary types.

The wide one you are eating now is the widest one. I suggest you try the thinnest one, it tastes different."

"Really? Then listen to Governor Song."

After ordering a bowl of Maoxi, Luo Nianzhong wiped his mouth after finishing the first bowl and said, "I really think you should create a brand and bring this Lanzhou beef noodles to Hong Kong Island so that the whole world can taste this rare delicacy.

I can’t guarantee for others, but I’d like to eat there often.

I am not just being polite, just look at how much my subordinates like it."

As if afraid that the other party would not believe him, Luo Nianzhong pointed to the table of the Four Vajras nearby.

When everyone looked over, they saw that people were playing the human pyramid game on the table. At the table in the corner, four or five bowls were stacked together. A dark-skinned man was still eating the noodles in his bowl, praising the noodles as he ate.

"Delicious, yes, delicious."

Tom's appearance had actually attracted other people's attention a long time ago. The store owner noticed it as early as when he was eating his third bowl.

Governor Song and others had not noticed it because their attention was always on Luo Nianzhong. Now that they saw it, they were really shocked by the other party's appetite.

Luo Nian was thinking in his heart that they had just arrived in Lanzhou at around 2:00 p.m., and they had skipped lunch in order to eat the authentic Lanzhou beef noodles.

With this amount, I guess Tom can make three or four bowls.

At Luo Nianzhong's table, Governor Song, who had just come to his senses, had not yet reacted, but the accompanying Deputy Minister of Finance was becoming increasingly distracted.

He knows that Quanjude, Donglaishun and other century-old restaurants are famous in Hong Kong Island and are loved by people all over the world, and he knows even more about the benefits they create.

With the opening of Quanjude’s New York and London branches last year and their explosive popularity, many people in the country have seen the development prospects of the catering industry.

This is the food that Luo Nianzhong likes to eat. If this restaurant were opened in Hong Kong Island, when Luo Nianzhong comes to eat and takes a picture, it will be hard for it not to be popular.

In addition to Governor Song, the Deputy Minister of Finance and the Minister of Chemical Industry also accompanied him on this trip to Lanzhou.

Who is Luo Nianzhong? He personally went to Lanzhou to investigate investment in a chemical project. How could this investment be small?

Another point is to make preparations for both scenarios.

In January, Formosa Plastics Chairman Wang arrived in Ludao to formally inspect the planned investment site in Haicang.

It’s a huge investment of 70 billion US dollars, which is the largest single investment in reform and opening up.

In terms of investment scale, the Far East Group’s investments in Yunnan and Shanghai are larger than its counterparts.

But these two are a whole, with various investments in them. Although they are all enterprises within the Far East system, they cannot be said to be a single entity.

Therefore, it goes without saying how much importance Haicang attaches to this 70 billion US dollar investment.

But everyone knows that making this project a reality is so difficult that it cannot be described in words.

Since the 80s, Formosa Plastics has been the largest in Taiwan in terms of revenue, market value, and number of employees. One-tenth of the population of Taiwan works directly or indirectly for Formosa Plastics.

It is conceivable that for such a person and company, Taiwan would allow him to invest in Tuzi?

The most important thing is that Lao Wang chose to invest in Tuzi not because of his patriotism, but because he was forced to do so.

As early as 1986, Lao Wang wanted to enter the upstream petrochemical field, so he wanted to build the sixth light oil cracking plant, that is, an oil refinery, in Taiwan.

However, his plan was strongly opposed by the public, and the government did not want him to steal the business of state-owned enterprises.

Therefore, when there was no hope for chemical companies to land in Taiwan, Mr. Wang had to turn his attention outside the island.

It was in this context that people were sent from above to make contact, which led to the Haicang Plan.

Now a bigger giant has appeared and suddenly said it would come to Lanzhou to inspect the chemical industry. It was also accompanied by the Minister of Chemical Industry and the Deputy Minister of Finance.

Compared with Lao Wang, Luo Nianzhong's investment obviously has more room for imagination, and the probability is also much higher.

At Luo Nianzhong's table, after seeing him finish his second bowl of Lanzhou beef noodles, Governor Song asked the question in his mind.

"Mr. Luo, I heard from Minister Zhao and Minister Jiang that you are here to inspect a chemical project in Lanzhou. I wonder which factory it is?"

There are neither too many nor too few petrochemical enterprises in Lanzhou. For example, the Oil Refinery and Chemical Plant and the Chemical Industrial Plant are both large-scale chemical enterprises.

The scale is not small, but the technology is really not good enough.

These enterprises were all established with the assistance of the polar bears in the 1950s. Judging from current technology, they are not just one or two generations behind, not to mention the production costs.

If we can get investment from this tycoon and replace the equipment, it would not be surprising to develop into a national giant.

Unfortunately, Governor Song will be disappointed.

"Blue Star".

"Ah? That's an industrial equipment cleaning company. Isn't Mr. Luo here to inspect the chemical industry?"

"Yes, if we cooperate and introduce equipment, can't we enter the chemical industry?"

Luo Nianzhong's words left Governor Song confused. When they heard that it was an industrial equipment cleaning company, the two ministers were also confused.

Since it is a chemical industry, shouldn't they find a factory with a foundation to cooperate with? Why did they find a cleaning company that has no related business at all?

Strictly speaking, industrial equipment cleaning is also related to the chemical industry, but it is very different from the real chemical industry.

Are they going to develop the industrial cleaning business? Don't be ridiculous. This requires Luo Nianzhong to go there in person and inform the higher-ups?

They didn't know that Luo Nianzhong's trip to Lanzhou to inspect the chemical industry was for no other reason than to see Ren Jianxin, the founder of Bluestar.

This is a legend, a big figure that cannot be avoided in the Rabbit Chemical Industry.

You may not think much of this name now, but 30 years later, his name and legend in the industry will be no less famous than that of another person named Ren.

Not many people may have heard of the Bluestar brand, but everyone knows China National Chemical Corporation. Bluestar can be said to be its predecessor.

The Chemical Machinery Research Institute of the Ministry of Chemical Industry in Lanzhou is a traditional scientific research unit. After the resumption of the college entrance examination, a large number of intellectuals injected fresh blood here. Ren Jianxin was one of them.

By chance, Ren Jianxin discovered a strange statistic: Rabbit wasted 850 million tons of raw coal every year due to boiler scaling, while the annual increase in coal production at that time was only 1750 million tons.

He believes that the root cause is the backwardness of rabbit cleaning technology.

At that time, Ren Jianxin noticed that there was a technology called 'lan-5' nitric acid pickling corrosion inhibitor, which could theoretically solve the boiler scaling problem.

This technology was developed by researchers from the Institute of Chemical Machinery over a five-year period. As soon as the results came out, they attracted attention from the industry and won the third prize in the National Technological Invention Award.

But this technology was sent to the archives and lay dormant for five years. Even though it was priced at 250 yuan, no one was interested in it.

The main reason was that the market for this kind of cleaning was completely blank at that time, and no one knew whether they would be the first to eat crabs.

However, Ren Jianxin is different. After several months of research, he decided to focus on boiler cleaning.

So the 26-year-old Ren Jianxin mortgaged all his belongings and borrowed yuan from the hospital to start his own business.

At that time he said, "If I fail, I will sell all my property as compensation. My position and salary will be downgraded by one level."

In other words, if you succeed, you belong to the hospital, but if you fail, you bear the consequences yourself.

Just like many American technology entrepreneurs who started out in garages, in 1984 Ren Jianxin founded Blue Star in an air-raid shelter with six employees and half an accountant who he brought with him.

At the beginning, they had no sales channels but only technology, so they initially cleaned teapots for the folks for free.

In this way, the news that Blue Star provided free teapot cleaning spread, and soon the leaders of the nearby mines found them.

"There is a boiler in the mine that is almost scrapped. You are requested to clean it. If you succeed, you will be paid. If you fail, you will just scrap it."

In this way, Lan Xing took on his first big job.

They worked day and night to pour the specially prepared cleaning liquid into the pot and started cleaning, and announced that the task was completed in just a few days.

This order not only earned Blue Star 1900 yuan in compensation, but also made Blue Star an instant hit in the northwest region.

In three months, more than 32 boilers were cleaned, creating an output value of 24 yuan and a profit of yuan in the first year.

If the profits were divided equally, everyone in their small group should be worth ten thousand yuan, but Ren Jianxin did not do so.

He proposed that part of it be handed over to the state, and the rest be kept for the company's development.

In 1987, a synthetic ammonia plant in Shanxi required systematic cleaning.

At first, they hired a German company to clean it for half a month but it was not clean enough. Later, they found Blue Star through an introduction.

Ren Jianxin cleaned the equipment in just ten days and at one-tenth of the price. Even the Germans gave him a thumbs-up when they saw it.

Since then, Bluestar has begun to expand rapidly, taking over almost all cleaning work in the country and accounting for over 90% of the market share.

In the 1990s, when state-owned enterprises were being reformed, a large number of companies embarked on the road to privatization, and many of the country's first billionaires were born.

Some people advised Ren Jianxin to do an MBO, or management buyout, when the market was at its best and become a shareholder of Bluestar to control the company.

But Ren Jianxin was unmoved and said, "The founding capital belongs to the state, and the company should be 100% state-owned.

Blue Star’s goal is to develop industry and serve the country, and state-owned or private ownership has no impact on this goal.”

1995 was a year in which Ren Jianxin realized three of his wishes.

The company went public, the chemical product base construction project was included in the national plan, and Bluestar's headquarters moved to the capital.

Later, Ren Jianxin kept putting out fires and took over many chemical plants, helping the factories to achieve technological breakthroughs. He also allowed Bluestar to take off completely through various mergers and acquisitions.

In 2004, after the Ministry of Chemical Industry was abolished, the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission, which had been established less than a year ago, reorganized Bluestar and Haohua into China National Chemical Corporation, with Ren Jianxin as the general manager.

It was also he who, in just over a decade, made China National Chemical Corporation grow into a global giant with assets exceeding 900 billion yuan and revenue of 500 billion yuan.

This is the person with courage, strategy and dreams. This is the candidate that Luo Nianzhong is looking for to be the head of Perfect Chemical.

This trip to Lanzhou was not so much to investigate the chemical industry as it was to come here for this person.
