Far East Town, Cowboy Bar.

Just by listening to the name, you can tell that this place feels very much like a beautiful country, and it is indeed so.

In this small town dominated by Westerners, the Cowboy Bar is one of the largest and most popular bars in the town. The other one is the 11-person bar across the street.

The reason these two bars are doing so well is because they have captured one thing: sports.

However, the difference is that the Cowboy Bar focuses on rugby and baseball, while the 11 Man Bar focuses on football.

Both bars are located in the circular square in the center of the town, which are two symmetrical points on a circle.

On every important match day, the bar would set up a large TV outside the store to cope with the flow of customers that the store could not accommodate, making the event seem lively and exciting.

The New Territories authorities were not afraid that they would get emotional and cause trouble. First of all, these people were highly educated and very few of them would cause trouble after drinking.

Another small town police station is also set up here. It is the first building at the east exit of the circular plaza. It is manned 24 hours a day, with at least seven police officers per shift, which is definitely enough police force.

"Hey, Bill, I heard that you are going on a business trip tomorrow? What about our baseball game with Asian Village on Sunday? You are our main player."

Asia Village is the small town above Far East Town that is mainly populated by Asian yellow people. It is mainly inhabited by Islanders and Hong Kong people of Island descent, and there are also a large number of other ethnic groups in Southeast Asia, so it is named Asia Village.

People started moving into Asia Village at the end of last year, and in less than two months, the registered population exceeded 5,000 people and more than 1,000 households. In addition, there are still many people applying to buy land and build houses, so it will not be a big deal for the population to eventually exceed 10,000.

This is why it has to be strictly controlled, otherwise no one can predict what the final outcome will be.

There are many wealthy people from Southeast Asia in Hong Kong Island. They are interested in building houses in such a new paradise-like living environment, but they were rejected by the Asia Village Committee.

The Villagers' Committee was fought for by John Whiteley with the help of Far East employees of Asia Village and the New Territories government. It was established in order to keep the present beauty of this place and prevent it from being exploited by real estate developers and capitalists.

According to regulations, any changes to the existing environment within 20 kilometers of Asia Village must be approved by the Villagers' Committee, so anyone who has the right to buy land, build houses and settle here must get the approval of the Villagers' Committee.

Not only the Asian Village, but also the Far East Town has its own committee whose purpose is to protect all the rights and interests of the town residents.

As for the cost of maintaining the villagers' committee, each resident only needs to pay 500 Hong Kong dollars in exclusive funds each year. The middle class is still happy to pay this fee.

Of course, this is also because of the Far East relationship, otherwise how could the government agree to such conditions.

With more people living there, there are naturally more entertainment activities.

Some were organized by sports enthusiasts, and of course some were initiated by the village committees on both sides.

The most famous competitions here are baseball, golf and dragon boat racing.

Of course there are competitions like football and basketball, but it must be admitted that there is still some gap between the yellow race and the white race in these two sports. If two small towns compete against each other, the gap is inevitably too big.

But baseball, golf and dragon boat racing are different. The Japanese like baseball, and so do the North Americans. Both sides are capable of competing in this sport, and the small town in the Far East has a better chance of winning.

When it comes to golf, a sport that is known as fashionable and elegant, both sides are equally good at it. They both know basically something about it, and there are also many experts who like this sport.

As for dragon boats, the Hong Kong Dragon Boat Race is an iconic event, and Chinese or Asians are no strangers to this sport.

Europeans and Americans also like it, but what they do is called canoeing. However, the principles are basically the same so both sides can compete with each other. In this sport, Asians have a 10% chance of winning.

The two sides stipulated that baseball, golf and dragon boat races would be held on the first Sunday of March, June and September respectively.

The tournament is a best-of-three match, with the town that wins two of the games emerging victorious. As for the prize, the losing town is responsible for all expenses for both towns' celebration day on October 10, which will be shared equally by every adult resident of the town.

October 10rd is the day when the first batch of residents moved into the Far East Town, symbolizing the new life here, so it was named the Town Day.

No one could have imagined that this town celebration would become a major festival in Hong Kong Island decades later, attracting a large number of tourists from all over the world every year.

"Ha." Bill drank a big gulp of beer and gave the other person a reassuring look.

"Don't worry, Nunez. I'll only be gone for two days, three days at most. I'll be back on Friday and won't miss the game."

Nunes was reassured and smiled happily, then he picked up his glass and clinked it with Bill's.

"This is the first match between our two sides. We must let the people in the Asian Village know how powerful we are, so we must send out our strongest lineup. This is also my most important task now."

Bill didn't think so and expressed his opinion.

“Compared to these, I think the biggest task for our Far East Town is to recruit new residents.

The population of our Far East Town is only more than 3700 people, and it is said that the registered population of the Asian Village has exceeded . This is very disadvantageous to us, both in terms of the base number for selecting players for the competition and in terms of cost sharing after losing.

I heard that as a member of the committee, you rejected many applications from non-Far East employees?

Be flexible. Didn't Asia Village approve many technical personnel who are not from the Far East Group and medical researchers from Pfizer Bristol-Myers Squibb's Hong Kong Island Research Institute?

Our original regulations allowed a maximum of 1.2 people to live here, but there are many areas waiting to be developed around here.

Moreover, the sooner we develop this matter, the better it will be for us. Do you remember the regulations between us and the local authorities?

Twenty kilometers is a dividing line, but it is real-time within a reasonable range. Are you waiting for us to build high-rise buildings twenty kilometers away and then expand? How much land and space will be left for us by then?"

Nunes was stunned by Bill's words, and then he reacted.

"Yeah, why didn't I think of that. Hey, Bill, you can give me some advice."

"My suggestion is that the future planning of the Far East Town should be to develop towards the northeast."

"Mai Po Nature Reserve?" Nunez is not stupid. He immediately grasped the key point and reacted.

Currently, the Far East Town is only about 1984 kilometers away from the Mai Po Nature Reserve established in 40. If it can expand five kilometers to the northeast, it will be enough.

Because the northeastern part of the island adjacent to the Mai Po Nature Reserve is a concave corner of the Deep Bay and it is impossible to reclaim land, the remaining kilometers of land have no significant development value at all.

As water flows into the estuary, there is no way to develop on either side, and it can only extend southward in a thin strip. This will greatly reduce the development value and increase the development cost accounting for real estate development.

“Okay, that’s a good suggestion, I’ll look into it when I get back.

Tell me about your business trip this time. I heard that the place you went to had a lot of matsutake mushrooms? The largest ones were as thick as a child's arm. Is this true?"

Looking at Nunes' face full of longing and surprise, Bill curled his lips and said, "I will bring you a gift, no need to be like this."

Currently, 80% of the matsutake mushrooms in Hong Kong supermarkets come from southern Yunnan. Because of this, the price of matsutake mushrooms in Hong Kong is almost % cheaper than in Europe and the United States, making it a popular souvenir for many Western tourists.

If Nunes, a big fan of Matsutake mushrooms, didn't know this, Bill would never believe it. He was not surprised, but just wanted to use this method to get someone to bring him some good stuff.

"Hey, if you see a rare big one like that, please help me get it, and I'll pay you when I come back."

"Don't worry, I'm coming here just to get to know some details first. I have plenty of time to help you choose a gift."

"That's great, I'll buy you today," Nunes said, and then asked someone to bring two more glasses of beer.
