Personality V: I will save everything

Chapter 633: Unfinished story.

After hearing Antonio's answer, Holmes didn't know what to say.

Words to comfort him? But...will comforting him be useful?

After a long and careful consideration, Holmes finally made up his mind and decided to remain silent.

He was well aware of his lack of emotional intelligence and worried that his words of comfort would not only fail to work, but might have the opposite effect.

Therefore, he wisely chose to keep his mouth shut so as not to cause Antonio more trouble.

However, in stark contrast to Holmes's concerns, Antonio seems completely unfazed.

He threw his arms around Holmes' neck without hesitation, displaying an attitude of unrestrained intimacy.

Antonio then smiled and said to Holmes: "Hey, friend, I think you must have made a lot of money this time. In that case, why don't you treat me to a drink?"

.................................................. ........................

It's possible, but you have to go back to London first, and Antonio agreed.

On the train, Violetta had been waiting for the right moment. Finally, she saw Holmes sitting alone in a corner of the carriage, so she walked over without hesitation and whispered to him, "Mr. Holmes, I have something I want to talk to you about alone."

Holmes raised his head and looked at Violetta. A hint of doubt flashed in his eyes, but he nodded politely and followed her to the other end of the carriage.

Violetta took a deep breath and lowered her voice to Holmes: "I hope you can remember something about Antonio's drinking. If you remember that he likes to drink, that's fine, but please don't give him good wine."

Holmes frowned slightly, obviously puzzled by what Valletta said. He asked, "Why? Don't most people want to taste good wine when they drink it?"

The corners of Valletta's mouth slightly raised, revealing a sly smile, and explained:

"That is the point, Mr. Holmes. Antonio has a very particular taste in wine. Give him good wine and he finds it dull; but give him the worst kind and he finds it delicious."

Holmes' eyes widened, seeming a little unbelievable. He asked, "Really? There are such people?"

Valletta nodded and continued, "Yes, and it would be best if it was the kind of wine that even a beggar wouldn't drink if given for free. That would be perfect for him."

Holmes was silent for a moment, as if thinking about what Violetta said. After a while, he said slowly: "I understand, Miss Violetta. Although it sounds a little unbelievable, I will remember your advice."

Although he said so, Holmes couldn't help feeling curious when he saw Violetta's hesitant look.

He recalled what he had learned about Antonio's past experiences, and he suddenly had some clues in his mind. He could roughly guess why Antonio was so resistant to drinking good wine.

Antonio's origin can be said to be quite poor, he was born in the slums. In such a harsh environment and scarce resources, the only wine he could get was probably those of inferior quality.

Yet, despite their poor quality, for Antonio they carry the happiest memories of his childhood.

Perhaps it was because life in the slums was too hard that the inferior wine became a bit of comfort in his life.

Although they don't taste good, they allow him to temporarily forget the hardships of life and immerse himself in that moment of joy.

Later, Antonio was brought into the palace by the princess, and his living conditions were greatly improved.

He finally had the chance to taste some real fine wine, but to him, it was nothing compared to the shoddy wine he had drunk in the slums.

In the palace, he lost the freedom and unfetteredness he had in the slums.

Although those fine wines had a mellow taste and a fragrant aroma, in his heart they were far inferior to the joy brought by the inferior wines he drank in his childhood.

"Well, I get it, Miss Violetta, I won't give him any good wine."

.................................................. ........................

The way back was still very boring, so Holmes mentioned the game they played when they came here. Do you remember what was written on those notes?

The 12 slips of paper read:

He has been a prostitute, killed people, got married, betrayed his family, fell in love with a murderer, slept with a princess, treated his father like a dog, thought about jumping off a building, liked the smell of blood, dumped corpses, hated his wife, and cooked human flesh.

They should all know the notes written by Violetta and Antonio, and Holmes himself knows exactly what is written on the three notes. So the only one left is Miles.

Holmes could roughly guess that "betraying his own family" was the secret written by Miles, but he was very curious, what were the remaining secret and lie?

Or let's put it simply, among the three non-humans, only what happened to Miles is something Holmes doesn't know.

In this regard, Miles was quite open-minded. He told the whole story without any reservation:

"I was once the eldest son of an aristocratic family and the heir to the title. In order to gain merit, my family resolutely sent me to an overseas war. It was in that place full of smoke and flames that I met my current wife, Michiko. Fate arranged for us to get to know each other and eventually fall in love.

At that time, I was so happy to marry her that I brought her back to England without hesitation and we walked into that home that was familiar yet strange to me.

However, we never expected that this seemingly happy beginning was actually just the prelude to a tragedy. My father was full of disgust for Michiko, and he thought that a woman from another race was not qualified to be my wife, even though we loved each other deeply.

Not only that, even the servants in the house treated Michiko coldly, and did not hide their contempt and disdain. Although Michiko tried so hard to integrate into this family, no matter how hard she tried, no one really regarded her as a family member.

Faced with this situation, my father actually found an excuse to send me back to the battlefield and let me leave home temporarily. During the time I was away, he secretly murdered Michiko and secretly executed her.

When Holmes heard this, he was speechless for a moment. He didn't know what to say to comfort the poor man in front of him.

Miles' experience was so tragic. The woman he loved mysteriously disappeared and was said to have eloped with someone else. However, he always believed in their love and went looking for her at all costs.

However, Holmes did not know how to comfort Miles, because he himself had never experienced such a thing, and he did not know what words to use to alleviate the pain in Miles' heart.

In the end, he had no choice but to remain silent and let Miles continue to tell his story.

Miles did not seem to notice Holmes's silence, for he continued:

"After I returned home, my father and the servants all said that Michiko had eloped with someone else, but I didn't believe it at all. We had such a deep relationship, how could she suddenly leave me? So I resolutely embarked on a journey to find Michiko, and this search lasted for many years."

Holmes listened quietly. He could feel the despair and helplessness in Miles' words.

This man spent too much time and energy in finding his lover, and all of this stemmed from his deep love for Michiko.

"But when I finally found Michiko, I discovered that she had become non-human. She was filled with strong resentment and had even lost her mind. She had even forgotten the good memories of being with me." Miles' voice was a little choked up. "But I didn't give up. I stayed by her side the whole time, trying to awaken her memory."

Holmes looked at Miles and could not help but feel a surge of admiration in his heart. This man did not give up in the face of such great difficulties. His persistence and perseverance were touching.

"But fortunately, everything has a good result in the end." Miles suddenly laughed, as if all the pain he had suffered over the years had disappeared at this moment.

His smile revealed a kind of relief and satisfaction that made people feel happy for him.

Yes, fortunately the result is good......

.................................................. ........................

Holmes then remembered that he seemed to have forgotten to ask one thing since he met Miles.

"I almost forgot, what's your daughter's name?"

"Natasha. Natasha Donald."

Miles' daughter is named Natasha, what a nice name.

Holmes had always been wrong about one thing. He thought Natasha was his daughter who was born after what happened to Miles was over and he and Michiko were happy again.

However, this is not the case.

.................................................. ........................

"You are wrong, Mr. Holmes," a low and sad voice came, "Michiko was already pregnant with Natasha when she was secretly dealt with by my father."

Holmes stared at Miles, a mixture of emotions welling up in his heart.

"My father sent Michiko to a remote fishing village where people lived in poverty and were superstitious. In that strange place, Michiko endured both physical and mental torture, and eventually gave birth to Natasha," Miles continued, his voice trembling slightly.

"But the fishermen were superstitious and believed that Michiko was an unlucky person who would bring disaster to the village. So they cruelly sank Michiko into the sea as a sacrifice." The man's tears rolled down his cheeks and his body trembled in pain.

Holmes listened quietly, and his heart was deeply touched by this tragic story. He realized his misunderstanding of Natasha's life experience and felt the great suffering that this family had experienced.

"And it's not over yet," added Valletta.

“Do you remember my experience, Mr. Holmes? After being used by my adoptive father, I was sold to a circus, and this circus was a focus.

After Natasha was born, she was raised by fishermen living in a fishing village. Although a long time has passed, the shadow of superstition still hangs over this small village.

As Natasha grew up, the fishermen's superstitious thoughts once again took over, and they even planned to offer Natasha as a sacrifice to the gods.

However, fate always seems to be full of drama. On the day when the fishermen were about to implement this cruel plan, a circus happened to come to the fishing village. This unexpected arrival gave Natasha a glimmer of hope.

In the hustle and bustle of the circus, Natasha met a man. The two hit it off and decided to escape from this terrible place together. So, on that stormy night, they broke through the shackles of the fishing village hand in hand and embarked on an unknown journey. "

Hearing this, the story seemed full of romance, which made people look forward to it. Holmes asked curiously: "So, is that man Natasha's current husband?"

However, the response he got was an obvious look of disgust from the other party.

"Not at all!"

Violetta said angrily,

"That man is a complete scumbag! Not long after Natasha arrived at the circus, his true colors were completely exposed. He used Natasha as a tool to vent his emotions every day, beating and scolding her wantonly. Under the gorgeous performance clothes, Natasha's body was already covered with scars, and there was almost no intact skin."

Hearing this, Holmes opened his mouth in surprise, and at the same time a voice sounded beside him.

"Just in case, I'd better tell you that Mr. Holmes' circus is a piece of rubbish. Don't think of it as a good place."

Antonio interrupted at this moment.
