Reincarnation: The Soul of Dashul
Chapter 508 The Invisible Land
"Could I have misunderstood...? Those points of light aren't road signs?" Leido landed on the top of a hill. He looked in all directions but found no unusual locations. All the energy reactions were just the same as those in the Ancient Tree Secret Realm.
Following the light marks on the jade tablet, Leido found the place. In front of him was a cluster of small hills, similar in terrain to the Elven Hills, but much smaller, only about ten kilometers in radius.
Behind him lay a vast, flat grassland, offering a wide view with nothing obstructing his vision. He could see the distant mountains at a glance. Leido's triple senses were fully activated, and he searched thoroughly both above and below ground, but found nothing.
Leido took out the blue-green jade tablet, wanting to double-check if the cursor position displayed on it was indeed here. As soon as he took out the jade tablet, it flew to a hill in front of him on its own, and the entire jade tablet burst out with blue-green light, shining directly at the hill.
"Is this an illusionary technique? Or a protective barrier? It doesn't even emit any energy!"
Not far from Ledo, light patterns began to flicker in the space, and it was as if something had torn open the space in front of him, revealing a large gap and a building.
To be precise, this is the site of an architectural ruin, with stone arch pillars leaning and crooked everywhere. Most of them are dilapidated, with almost no intact pillars, as if they had experienced a chaotic battle.
The site is small, yet it is filled with a mysterious atmosphere. The golden light of the ancient tree of life shines through the broken arches, casting jagged streaks of light. A gentle breeze blows through the array of pillars, producing a strange tone that is almost like a sob.
In the center of the jumbled stone arches, there was a rather conspicuous spot, blocked by broken pillars and rubble, revealing only a dark opening. Leido cautiously walked over and was quite surprised to see the mysterious runes on the pillars.
"These symbols... are writing! But not any currently recorded writing; they seem to be even older than the dragon race's language!"
Leido was astonished. These runes were extremely complex. In order to understand the Dragon Clan's secret manual, he and Norman had studied many ancient languages together. Leido had memorized almost all existing scripts using the Insight Technique. He could recognize almost anything recorded on the planet Barrett.
However, the symbols on the site were not any existing script, but they gave Leido a sense of familiarity. They seemed to be a fusion of the scripts of all living races, including those of humans, beastmen, dragons, and other races, making them extremely strange.
As Leido approached the entrance, he encountered no obstacles. He had assumed that such a secluded place would likely contain powerful protective formations or traps, but to his surprise, it was completely unexpected.
The entrance was in ruins, with broken arches and crumbling walls, and a half-collapsed dome, no longer resembling a gate. With a thought, Leido used his magic to move all the messy rocks at the entrance, instantly creating a large enough hole for him to pass through.
The moment Leido stepped into the cave, the jade tablet floating outside transformed into a blue-green ball of light and flew back into Leido's Mountain and Sea Map: "This jade tablet really is a map and a key... Could the legend be true?"
Increasingly curious, Leido had already released his triple senses to explore everything around him, but apart from the runes, there wasn't much else in the ruins, and his senses couldn't penetrate into the cave. He had no choice but to go in and explore himself.
Just after Ledo fully entered the cave, the ruins area was once again completely enveloped by that invisible energy shield, disappearing completely from the ancient tree secret realm without leaving a trace. No matter how powerful one's cultivation was, it was impossible to detect this non-existent place.
The entrance to the cave was like a pupil gnawed by time, extremely dark. But when Leido actually stepped into the cave, the cave suddenly brightened up. The light emanated from the surrounding walls, soft and not dazzling.
Leido's Five Elements Spiritual Sense, Magic Sensing, and Echo Technique all failed. It seemed that all energy sensing was ineffective inside the ruins, and he could only rely on his keen eyesight to investigate.
This is a strange space. The ruins of the broken pillars outside are small, but this place is very vast, covering an area two or three times larger than the honor square of the magic headquarters. Moreover, it is very regular, a perfect rectangular space with walls that are fifty meters high.
However, the place was empty. Apart from the walls bathed in soft light, there was only a slightly recessed platform in the center. Ledo could see the entire space at a glance, and there was nothing there.
"It's huge...and the building materials are so strange, there's not even a single gap!"
Looking at the glowing wall in front of him, Leido wondered what kind of building material it was. He couldn't help but touch it with his hand, only to find that the huge wall didn't have a single gap. He suddenly felt that this kind of wall was somewhat familiar.
“This is very similar to the walls inside the Mountain and Sea Palace. They are both self-luminous building materials, but the Mountain and Sea Palace is much more magnificent and splendid... It can’t compare!” Leido finally remembered the jade walls inside the Mountain and Sea Palace, which were also made of materials that emitted light on their own, and were very similar to this place.
The secret chambers inside the ruins were large but empty. Leido looked them over in one glance. He walked to the recessed platform in the center, where he could not yet see what was inside.
Upon closer inspection, Leido saw a circular platform, less than ten meters in diameter, sunken five or six meters into the ground. The two sides of the platform were uneven, as if it had collapsed or was stuck by something, which was quite strange.
“Huh? Someone’s been here…” Ledo craned his neck and looked down. He saw many broken white fragments at the bottom of the recessed platform below. With his sharp eyes, he immediately recognized them as fragments of living beings’ bones, and even a few skulls that looked like those of humans.
Among the pile of broken bones, several very large fractured bones stood out. They were much larger than the other bone fragments and resembled the humerus and wing bones of a bird-beast race. However, these remains were obviously very old and had long been fragmented, making it impossible to discern their overall shape.
"So heavy! What could this be?" Leido saw something beneath the overlapping large bone fragments. His triple senses were ineffective, so he couldn't investigate further. He could only use his object manipulation technique to move the two bone fragments on the surface, but it was unexpectedly difficult.
“A scroll? A wooden slip…” After much effort, Leido finally removed two pieces of bone, revealing what lay beneath: a thick, dark brown wooden slip. He opened it slightly and took it into his hand.
Upon receiving the wooden slip and seeing the first character on it, Leido felt a strong sense of familiarity; it was the script of the dragon race. He couldn't help but exclaim, "It's actually... a secret manual of the dragon race? Then these wing-shaped bone fragments must be the remains of dragon-like magical beasts."
Back then, in order to gain a deeper understanding of the Dragon Thunder Spell, Leido had diligently studied the language of the dragon race with his teacher Norman. These characters were already etched into his mind, and he recognized them at a glance.
“Stone carvings, animal hides, books, scrolls… this time it’s wooden slips, the carriers of the Dragon Clan’s secret manuals, much like ours, simple and unassuming.” Leido unfolded the wooden slips with interest and glanced at them briefly.
"The history of the dragon race is indeed ancient. There are many characters I can't recognize, but these few have appeared several times. 'The one who maintains... order...' Who is this?"
Although Leido could recognize some of the dragon's writing, he was only familiar with those related to dragon spells. Even Norman couldn't fully understand the entire dragon's secret manual. Leido glanced at it a few times and lost interest, preparing to put it away.
However, as he was finishing the scroll, Leido caught a glimpse out of the corner of his eye and was suddenly overjoyed. His eyes were practically bursting with light as he saw the three ancient dragon characters "Longgang Curse" at the end of the wooden scroll.
