Everyone has their own pride, such as Hongling.

Hong Ling was admitted to the Berklee College of Music in the United States before she graduated from China. She performed very well during her studies at Berklee College of Music. If she had not been pregnant at the time, she probably would not have returned to China. After all, many Broadway theater companies were interested in her at that time.

After returning to China and coming to Xia Haoyang's studio, Hong Ling found that although the girl band Tara, formed by her younger junior sisters, was at its peak, this was not the music she liked. Perhaps influenced by Western culture, she preferred blues and jazz in her heart. The Japanese singer Lisa Ono was her ideal singer, but her voice quality and timbre were not suitable for jazz, and were completely inconsistent with Lisa Ono's hoarse and rich timbre.

To be honest, Hong Ling's loud, high-pitched, crisp high-pitched voice, full, penetrating and metallic sound quality, is actually very close to the legendary "Wagner soprano."

First of all, soprano refers to the highest frequency range that an adult female singer can achieve (usually c1-c3, that is, c in the first clef to c in the third clef).

Generally speaking, sopranos are divided into coloratura soprano, lyric soprano and dramatic soprano according to their timbre, vocal range and other characteristics.

The coloratura soprano has a gorgeous, crisp and high-pitched timbre. She is good at playing fast groups of ornaments and is extremely flexible in the high notes.

The lyric soprano is the most common type of soprano, with a soft and emotional voice. Most opera roles are performed by singers of this voice.

The dramatic soprano has a rich, loud and dramatic voice, and can handle extremely intense dramatic changes.

There is also a type of soprano called "Wagner soprano", whose voice shape, volume and richness are better than those of dramatic soprano. Such characteristics also enable them to meet the requirements of soprano in Wagner's operas. However, this type of "Wagner soprano" is very rare, but Hong Ling is one of them.

Hongling has reason to be proud of her naturally good voice.

But the Xia Haoyang Studio that Hong Ling joined was not an opera house. Although Xia Haoyang was very famous in the entertainment industry, the works he wrote were just pop music. In terms of level, Hong Ling looked down on it at first.

It is not uncommon for musicians who sing bel canto or opera to look down on pop music. It feels like an orthodox news anchor would look down on entertainment variety show hosts; console game players would look down on web game or pay-to-win game players; students studying in the United States or the United Kingdom would look down on students studying in Australia or Southeast Asia; this is a very natural chain of contempt.

Just like a joke in the circle of overseas students in the Republic of China: "The reason why Lin Huiyin didn't end up with Xu Zhimo was because American undergraduates looked down on British masters." (As we all know, Lin Huiyin and Liang Sicheng both graduated from the University of Pennsylvania, even though Xu Zhimo graduated from Cambridge.)

So when Lao Xie suggested Hong Ling to join Xia Haoyang's studio, it was not because she couldn't find a job or had nowhere to go, but it was actually a kind of compromise.

According to Hongling's own plan, after returning to China, she will reconcile with Lao Xie and settle the child. She plans to apply for a job at the National Grand Theater, and with her ability, there is a high chance that she will be hired.

But Lao Xie wanted to work with Hong Ling. His boss, Xia Haoyang, was his classmate, and he could write songs specifically for him based on his voice. In addition, it would be more convenient to take care of his children than working in an organization like the National Grand Theater. The salary would definitely be much higher than in an organization like the National Grand Theater, so Hong Ling thought at the time that she should give it a try.

During the years she sang a duet with Juzi at Fat Cat Studio, Xia Haoyang indeed produced a series of music specifically for her voice. Although it is still pop music, it is different from Tara's dance hall and disco songs with many lyrics so simple that they are just onomatopoeia and rely purely on a few repetitive melodies to wash your brain. The musical quality of Hong Ling is obviously much higher, reflecting a certain degree of technique and high notes, which is not a range that ordinary singers can try at will.

So even though it's not very popular, Hong Ling doesn't mind. She knows her own musical style and is not jealous of Tara's singing and dancing that attracts a large number of young fans in their teens and twenties and the extremely high attention.

It just so happens that her partner Juzi is not someone who likes the spotlight and is not the type who wants to stand out in the entertainment industry and make front-page headlines, so the two of them have always been living a Buddhist life of muddling through.

Juzi will focus more on Tara's growth and the company's stocks, while Hongling will focus on her children.

This year's "Singer" invitation was a turning point. Tara was invited, and she came last in the first episode of the competition when she sang her representative work, which stimulated Hongling.

She had not paid attention to this program before, but who were the contestants this year? It was Queen Na, King Deng, and the American singer Adam. When Hong Ling saw that a girl from Maple Leaf Country who was the same age as her was also the first singer invited by Xinan TV, she became interested in this program.

At this moment, she suddenly realized why Xinan TV did not invite her.

Later, she got the chance to perform on the "Singer" stage, and Xia Haoyang even specially produced difficult and beautiful songs such as "She's So Beautiful", "Tears" and "Wise Choice" for her, but she still failed to enter the final.

Of course there are certain reasons for this, and she can understand that, but she was still disappointed that she failed to make it to the finals. She also began to re-examine herself, wondering if she was not as good as she thought.

In December, Tara got the opportunity to sing the theme song for the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games. Hongling could still comfort herself because any country's opening ceremony might choose the biggest pop singers or folk musicians, but would hardly choose classical and opera musicians whose audiences were more professional and niche.

On the eve of this year's Spring Festival, the Tara sisters received many invitations for commercial performances. This was not surprising, as they were very popular this year. However, they actually chose to hold 7 commercial performances in just ten days before the Spring Festival. Add to that the CCTV Spring Festival Gala, which was set in stone, that means eight performances in just ten days. This really shocked Hong Ling.

Do the four little sisters of Tara need money? Each of them is worth at least 10 billion (she and Juzi are also worth the same, both received company stocks from Xia Haoyang). Do they also need fame? Participating in the Spring Festival Galas of these provincial TV stations will not increase their fame much, so why do they work so hard?

Comparing this with my own lax and muddled attitude, the reason why I am not famous enough in the pop music circle, the reason why Xinan TV did not invite me as the first singer and could only be a challenge singer, the reason why I failed to enter the finals of "Singer" and could only be a guest singer, the reason why I may become a victim of the balance of the Spring Festival Gala; isn't there a reason of my own?
