God-level choice: Starting Contract Thunder General

Over the past month, many people have asked me on a certain messaging app, "Why hasn't the author updated?", "Has the author run away?", "Is this novel going to end badly and be abandoned?"

Seeing these comments, the author could only reply helplessly, "Update soon," "Writing now," "Continuing to write next month."

Actually, the author is quite happy to see people urging for updates or various comments, whether well-intentioned or malicious, because it means that people are paying attention to the author and the novel.

But speaking of this, Xiao Ma is very conflicted. It's not that Xiao Ma is too busy with work or other reasons to continue writing, but rather that he really can't continue.

This novel has been in the works for a very long time now, reaching a length of 4.4 million words—a number the author never imagined when they first started writing it… Initially, the author simply intended to write casually, for fun, or even just because they had run out of novels to read and wanted to write one for themselves…

But along the way, I was surprised that so many people were willing to read my novels. When I first saw that the number of readers had exceeded six or seven hundred thousand, I was quite shocked and a little apprehensive...

Of course, some profits were also gained, which extended the novel's lifespan beyond Xiao Ma's initial one million words to two million... three million... four million...

I admit that towards the end, it became very weak, extremely weak. Countless people gave me feedback, and I read all the negative reviews.

The hectic work schedule and the three or four hours of writing time I often spend on my own have made it difficult for me to find a balance. Most importantly, I've lost the passion I used to have when writing; I no longer have the enthusiasm to write four times a day, sometimes even more than 20,000 words a day…

Of course, all of this is due to the author's overconfidence in their writing skills, resulting in too many unfillable plot holes, leading to a blurred main storyline, chaotic subplots, and messy character relationships, among other flaws...

But no matter what everyone says or comments, the story of Thunder and Lightning may end here for now. Of course, I said temporarily. It's just a temporary end. In the future, I will continue to write the story, explain the origin of the system, what Luo Chen did, and most importantly, what kind of story this book is about.

I will finish writing it if even one person is willing to read it.

The reason it's now finished is ultimately due to the author's lack of writing skill. If it had continued at this slow pace, it could have easily added another hundred or even two million words, which would have brought the author some income. However, as the author's first work, they didn't want to ruin the novel... (although it feels like it already had a bad ending).

If I continue writing, unless Xiao Ma truly doesn't care at all, it will only bring negative emotions to you, the readers...

Four million words is my current account of this book. During this time, I have gained a lot of love from readers, as well as a lot of criticism. Some people even added me directly to discuss the plot with me, their tone critical and nitpicking the author's writing. But even so, after the anger subsided, the author also felt a sense of relief, which means that there are really people who want this novel to get better and better.

From July 2023 to February 2026, after two and a half years of honing his writing skills, the author finally made this decision...

Now, let's explain what the author, who frequently stops updating and sometimes disappears for a month, is doing.

That's right, it's about studying.

Why did it fall apart? Why did it have to end badly, and why couldn't I continue writing? Why are other people able to give their stories a complete ending, whether good or bad?

To this end, the author read numerous popular articles and even purchased several online courses to learn writing techniques; all that's left is to enroll in a class...

Looking back at the articles, sentences, and descriptions I wrote, I felt a bit overwhelmed. I tried to comfort myself, after all, it was my first novel. As a "bad student" who couldn't even write a few words in an 800-word essay during my school days, being able to write such a novel and do this much is already quite an achievement... But this cannot be a reason or excuse for a bad ending.

So, some of you in the group might remember that more than half a year ago, the author solicited names for supporting characters in the second book. It was from that time that the outline of the new book began to be written, and now it's finally starting to take shape.

The new book will be available soon, and there will be some small collaborations with the book "General Thunder".

General Thunder is the author's first work, so I won't leave it here unfinished... When the author has the ability, I will definitely give this book a satisfactory ending.

Last but not least, after two and a half years, I poured all my energy and effort into the book "General Thunder and Lightning," but now that I've truly stopped, I feel a bit tired. Looking around, I see that many of my fellow readers who once passionately discussed the plot with me and interacted with me at the end of each chapter have left, one after another.

Ultimately, it was the author's fault for not giving everyone a happy ending.
