Chapter 705 Rotor Engine

A conventional engine is a classic piston four-stroke model. It has a cylinder and a connecting rod with a piston that intakes air, compresses, explodes (power), and exhausts up and down.

The structure of the rotor is completely different. It is a triangular-shaped "rotor" rotating in a capsule-shaped space. Each point of the triangle is connected to the capsule, forming three cavities.

Each revolution, the three cavities can complete a four-stroke, which is theoretically equivalent to a three-cylinder engine.

By analogy, the dual-rotor structure is equivalent to a V6 or L6 6-cylinder engine. If you add another rotor, it becomes a 9-cylinder engine...

The rotor is just that big, about the size of a large bowl of noodles, and utilizes space to almost the extreme. The so-called 9-cylinder power is inferior to a real 9-cylinder engine, and the rotor structure is simple and lightweight.

Now it is much easier to use "electromagnetic levitation" than before.

This type of engine has many advantages and corresponding disadvantages. The disadvantages are extremely fatal. So fatal that before Shen Qi's time travel, there were basically no rotary engine cars on the market.

For example, if the three points or sides of a triangle (actually a triangular block) continue to rub against the casing, the rubber will always age and be damaged, causing the three cavities to leak from each other.

In addition, the rotary engine consumes very much oil, both oil and gasoline.

Before Shen Qi crossed over, due to environmental protection considerations, fuel consumption restrictions were very strict, and the fuel consumption of rotary engines was extremely high, so they often compared themselves to V8 engines.

However, this is the Pokémon world line.

The car uses energy blocks, which are clean energy. Apart from spending more money on energy consumption, there is no legal problem.

The materials and technology in the Pokémon world are also different from before time travel, which may be able to make up for the shortcomings of the rotor.

Further down, the rotor is easily damaged and repairs are expensive.

That's why Hu Zang said it would be used in T2-level events. In the regular season and T3, we still use the original engine.

After two more test runs, Shen Qi was basically sure that the little sheep was installed into the rotary engine.

The Little Sheep does not have a front engine. The engine is under the bottom card, so it cannot be opened to see how many rotors are arranged side by side.

I guess 3 rotors are enough, and there is no point in having more.

Little Sheep doesn't have much problem with cornering, especially with the help of [Global Eye], it's still a T2 cornering level. The only drawback is that Shen Qi is deficient in walking the energy line.

As soon as it reaches the big straight line, the Little Sheep uses all the power amplification methods, which are at most comparable to lower-grade B-class cars. Moreover, ordinary straight lines are not suitable for sprinting at full speed, so as to avoid too much load and affecting the subsequent state.

Therefore, the little sheep will be overtaken by better cars near the big straight when they cross the starting line again on the second lap. During the race, some high-speed corners and relatively long straights are also at a disadvantage.

The use of the rotary engine allows the Little Sheep to quickly increase speed and reach high speeds, at least without being too disabled.

The rotary engine is weak at low speeds and slow to increase speed, so it needs to be supplemented in terms of torque. This can be compensated by adding special attacks, or using [race energy], or even "helping" with a small burst.

What Shen Qi has to do now is to adapt to the rotary engine little sheep.

"Yes, you can control it!"

Shen Qi actually doesn't have so many "adaptation/unadaptability" problems, and the fault tolerance rate and matching degree are very high.

After all, I drove a lot of messy cars in my previous life, mainly powered by ferocious diesel engines, and it was almost like driving transportation with my head in my belt.

In the Pokémon world, cars are better in every aspect, and in Shen Qi's eyes they are great machines.

When the little sheep returned to the car repair shop, he could see Hu Zang sitting outside the yard eating tree fruits.

When he entrusted the little sheep to him, he acted quite calmly. In fact, he was still worried that if the rotary engine could not be matched, he would not be able to realize his wish.

If there was really a bad match, Hu Zang would definitely not force Shen Qi, but he would be a little disappointed in his heart.

However, seeing Shen Qi confidently jumping off the little sheep and mentioning "rotor engine", Hu Zang felt like tears filled his eyes.

As a teacher who was not recognized and approved in college, he was like a stubborn child modifying his ideal engine alone in a remote country until his peak period passed and he was no longer suitable for driving a racing car.

Hu Zang only felt that he had no regrets when he met a good young man who matched his temperament, ideals and even potential.

Even if Shen Qi cannot defeat Rainbow Flying Sword in the competition, Hu Zang has no regrets.

After all, it was a monster A-class car created by a top institution from a top university, and a genius girl who was rare to see in ten years.

Looking at Shen Qi, who was happily expressing his feelings, Hu Zang's eyes narrowed into slits, and Yongjira's iconic beard curled up and down, fluttering.

"Shen Qi, originally I wanted to install an extra motor for you."

It feels a bit like a gasoline-electric hybrid. When starting, the motor is used to drive the engine to rotate, making low speeds more powerful. When the speed increases, the motor will not take effect.

This is the principle of supercharging. Extra energy is expended to allow the turbofan to spin first to avoid "turbo lag" at low speeds.

"That's a good idea, why didn't you pretend it later?"

"Because the energy consumption is too large and unstable."

Rotary engines consume huge amounts of energy, which is called "burning oil" in local dialect.

"Not so much."

Rotary engines are already prone to glitches, but adding an electric motor to drive low torque is indeed questionable.

However, energy shouldn't be an issue.

"When the energy block is full and the energy pool is good, there will be no shortage of energy."

Rotary engines do consume a lot of energy, but none of the cars used in competitions are fuel-efficient.

There are many V8 engines, plus superchargers. Typical examples are Ma Zhishi's super-powerful and violently modified racing cars, also known as "muscle cars."

These cars also consume a lot of energy, and they can still have a lot of energy left after running on a track that is dozens of kilometers long.

The reason why Rainbow Flying Sword uses homogeneous compression ignition to reduce energy consumption is to reduce the weight of the energy pool and reduce the load by hundreds of kilograms.

Therefore, as far as the race is concerned, there is almost no situation of "running out of gas" halfway through the race.

"No, Shen Qi, you will face an expansion competition in which no one has experience."

In the past, T2 competition was held once a year, and the competition system and schedule were roughly the upgraded version of T3.

The concept of expansion competition comes from the battle event.

There is a regular T2 every year, as well as a T2 expansion game jointly organized by the development zone and the Elf Alliance.

The Drivers Alliance and the Battle Development Zone jointly organize the competition, which is actually along the development prospects of the reconciliation project.

Battle development areas, or battle facilities, are found in almost every region. They are a battle project with very interesting gameplay.

It not only tests the combat effectiveness of trainers and Pokémon in direct combat, but also involves various activities such as mazes, answering questions, and exchanging Pokémon.

Therefore, the T2 battle match held in the development zone is not just a competition.

This is the first time that a racing event has an expansion competition. No one knows what kind of tricks will be played against the development area.
