Chapter 785 Romantic Candlelight Dinner

Hermione, sitting quietly in the car, didn't wait long.

About 10 minutes later, Vincent came out of Eggplant Restaurant and very gentlemanly opened the car door for her.

She gently took his hand and got out of the car, then took his arm and walked into the restaurant.

The light purple decoration gives people a unique and mysterious feeling.

Led by the waiter, the two came to a white table on the second floor near the floor-to-ceiling glass.

The tableware on the table was all decorated with white ribbons with purple edges, and next to the lit candle in the middle was a particularly eye-catching bottle of red wine.

Vincent frowned slightly, a little annoyed that he had not reminded the lobby manager just now.

Don’t be fooled by the fact that he dresses like an adult, he actually turns 18 next month.

And the red wine was too straightforward, Hermione blushed with embarrassment.

Vincent winked at the waiter and said, "Please change it to champagne for us, thank you."

"Don't bother." Hermione loosened her tightly clenched hands on her thighs and looked him in the eye. "If I drink a little, I shouldn't get drunk."

She occasionally drinks champagne or cocktails. The alcohol content of red wine is generally not high, so a little bit will not make her drunk.

"Okay." Vincent signaled to the waiter to prepare the appetizers.

Unlike normal ordering, all dishes for this dinner are decided by the chef.

Shortly after the waiter poured the red wine into the decanter, the lobby manager arrived pushing a food cart.

For the appetizer, he prepared freshly-fried scallops tableside, and he turned on the gas stove on the dining cart.

"Good evening, both of you. I'm John Philip, the lobby manager of Eggplant Restaurant. You can call me JP."

JP then told a witty British joke to liven up the atmosphere.

"Our restaurant opened last year and I was very impressed by the first customer because he was Indian. The first thing I did was to ask him to wash his hands before dining."

It doesn't sound like anything at first, but when you think about it carefully, it's really hilarious.

Vincent was fine, and Hermione also chuckled gracefully with her hands covering her mouth.

JP skillfully put the snow-white scallops into the boiling butter in the pan.

"I was also deeply impressed by the second guest because she was a punk girl wearing headphones. I communicated with her using sign language for a long time. Later, she took off her headphones and I realized that she was a normal person, not a disabled person."

This lobby manager is quite capable as he satirizes the impoliteness of today's young people.

And he is an excellent cook. Not long after he told the second joke, two plates of golden scallops were perfectly cooked by him.

"Please enjoy your meal, both of you. I have to go back downstairs to prepare some food for another table of guests, and also tell the two stories I just told you."

Before leaving, he told another joke. He really knew how to liven up the atmosphere.

Vincent and Hermione picked up their knives and forks, cut off a small piece of scallop and put it in their mouths.

No additional seasoning is needed, and dishes cooked tableside are always freshest.

And there is not even a bit of over-fried rubbery texture, the oil temperature and heat are well controlled.

Just as the two finished their scallops, the waiter brought French bread as a side dish and two small plates of Southeast Asian-style Thai fried shrimps.

"Can I get you some drinks, please?"

Vincent nodded slightly.

The decanting time for most red wines is between 15 and 30 minutes, but the longer the decanting time is not necessarily better.

The type of wine, body, state and personal taste preferences will all have a subtle impact on the taste.

Since the waiter specifically reminded us, this bottle of red wine, which appears to be produced in Bordeaux, France, should be in its best drinking condition.

Hermione picked up the goblet, clinked it lightly with Vincent, and took a sip carefully.

It has a slight bitter taste at first, but soon a rich and heavy fruity flavor spreads from the tip of the tongue, and finally ends with a light sweetness.

It tastes okay, not as good as champagne and cocktails, but not too bad either.

Vincent could taste something slightly different.

The bitterness of ordinary red wine will remain in the mouth after it enters the mouth. Of course, it is no problem if it is for a gathering or a party, but it is unbearable in the eyes of some restaurants that pay attention to details.

In order to minimize the impact on the taste of the food, their chefs usually personally taste different batches of red wine produced by major wineries in various seasons until they find one or more that satisfy them.

Hell's Kitchen chef Gordon Ramsay is obviously a person who pays great attention to details, and Vincent thinks this dinner is even more worth looking forward to.

The Thai fried shrimp had a rather appetizing spicy and sour taste, but the French bread that came with it was nothing special.

If we have to point out its advantages, it is only that it is not a "baguette".

The two didn't have to wait too long before the first main course arrived.

The grilled lamb chops sprinkled with rosemary have not yet been served, but the tempting aroma can already be smelled from afar.

The center of the cut lamb chops is pink and tastes tender and juicy, and the seasoning and cooking are both top-notch.

The second main course was the classic French pan-fried foie gras, but the chef was very innovative in using a rich blueberry sauce.

The delicate taste of foie gras, paired with the fresh sweet and sour sauce, is simply unforgettable.

"Cheers!" The two took a sip of red wine.

The third main course is Hell’s Chef’s specialty – Beef Wellington.

Beef Wellington is quite complicated to prepare.

First, lightly fry the fillet, then spread it evenly with mushroom sauce, then wrap it with a layer of Parma ham, wrap it tightly with puff pastry and bake it in the oven.

Compared to ordinary steaks, Wellington steak has a richer taste.

The fresh fragrance of mushrooms, the tenderness and juiciness of fillet, and the crispiness of puff pastry, the three different flavors combine to finally bring a completely new and different flavor.

Before she knew it, Hermione was already on her second glass of wine.

Her cheeks were slightly flushed, and her eyes were always wandering as she looked at Vincent who was sitting opposite her.

"What's wrong? Are you feeling uncomfortable somewhere?"

"No, I'm fine now."

She put down her knife and fork gracefully, "I feel like I am the happiest person in the world right now."

Vincent was surprised, "Shouldn't I be the happiest person in the world?"

Hermione covered her mouth and chuckled, "Are you so easily satisfied?"

"Aren't you too."

Dim light, slightly tipsy state, two people looking at each other.

The waiter who was serving the desserts tactfully retreated quietly.

Hermione drank the red wine in the goblet in one gulp, then stood up and moved her chair next to Vincent.

After she sat down again, she was particularly bold and took the initiative to lean into his arms, with the back of her head gently resting on his neck.

"I seem to be drunk."

Vincent put his arm around her shoulders and didn't expose her lie. "Really? Then take a good rest here with me."

"Yeah." Hermione turned her head and leaned quietly against his chest, listening to his steady heartbeat.

His heart beat powerfully, again and again.

She said she was drunk and needed to rest, but she stretched out her little hand and gently gestured something on his chest with her slender fingertips.

A letter "I", a heart, and a letter "U".

Vincent smiled faintly and held her tighter.
