Chapter 1106: Fudge's gamble

As expected, Fudge chose to go down this path to the end.

What surprised Vincent was that he dared to act on his own, which was equivalent to gambling his future political career just to cover up the current crisis.

Kingsley's expression remained serious. "Although this arrest was just a spur-of-the-moment decision on his part, I think he will take action soon."

Fudge's action was nothing more than to force Vincent to submit through the new Eleventh Act and make him completely deny Dumbledore's words.

This is indeed a good idea, but unfortunately Vincent has long been disappointed with the current Ministry of Magic. A government that disregards the lives and safety of its people has no future.

"Thank you, Mr. Shacklebolt." Vincent leaned back in his chair with an indifferent expression. "What does Professor Dumbledore want me to do?"

Kingsley tapped the eleventh decree on the table. "He wants you to do nothing. He'll have a good talk with Fudge."

The person has been taken to the Ministry of Magic, what else is there to talk about?

Vincent was silent for a while and did not make any statement.

Kingsley glanced at the magic communicator on his wrist several times, "Our time is almost up."

Vincent moved his neck slightly and straightened up with a half-smile, "I'm not a member of the Order of the Phoenix, why should I listen to him?"

Kingsley sighed deeply, "I knew you wouldn't agree."

He pushed the decree again, "If that's the case, you'd better take a look."

Vincent took a few casual glances at it. Because this information security law was hastily drafted, many parts were not perfect.

However, in response to possible loopholes, the last article of the decree clearly stipulates the retroactive period.

"January 1995, 1..." Vincent closed the decree and threw it back. "How shameless! Can this thing pass the review of the Wizengamot?"

The Minister of Magic cannot completely bypass the Wizengamot to make or enforce laws on his own. The reason why the members of the Wizengamot are senior wizards, heads of various departments, and celebrities is to restrict the power of the minister.

However, this retroactive eleventh decree is really ridiculous. As long as the retroactive period has not expired, as long as the so-called "false information" has been spread, no matter how, the Ministry of Magic can convict them.

Anyone with a little legal awareness knows that its emergence will cause serious damage to the legal system of the wizarding world. Unless the Wizengamot has a collective brain-break like Fudge, it will never allow it to be passed and implemented smoothly.

Kingsley sighed again, "Fudge used an emergency executive order to temporarily issue a decree."

Vincent did not hide the contempt on his face. "Want to threaten me? Isn't he afraid that the Wizengamot will overturn the decree later?"

Kingsley said nothing, just looked at him quietly.

If one is not forced into a desperate situation, who would be willing to take the risk of being criticized by everyone and give it a try?

Vincent leaned back in his chair without any embarrassment, "Mr. Shacklebolt, are you done with the 'interrogation'?"

Kingsley twitched his mouth violently, "It's over."

"Then I can go back now?"

"..." He nodded speechlessly, "We will ask you to come back at any time to assist in the investigation. Please do not leave the country at will during this period."

Vincent glanced at the magic communicator on his wrist.

It was already past 3pm, and I didn't know if his parents were getting impatient waiting.

After thanking Kingsley again, Vincent was escorted by him to the Ministry of Magic lobby.

The Waynes were sitting on the sofa in the waiting area, along with Hermione and the Grangers.

When they saw Vincent approaching with a smile on his face, the worry on their faces disappeared immediately.

Kingsley watched them leave silently, and suddenly felt uneasy deep in his heart, as if something big was about to happen.

He didn't have much contact with Vincent, but he learned a lot from other members of the Order of the Phoenix, especially Tonks, who was also an Auror. Fudge's forced promulgation of the Eleventh Decree was likely to be a bad move.

Another interrogation room.

Scrimgeour went through the usual routine and looked at Dumbledore quietly, as if he wanted to say something but couldn't.

"Rufus, do you have anything to say to me?"

Scrimgeour took a deep breath and was about to speak when there was a knock on the door.

He stood up and opened the door, his face full of surprise, "Mr. Minister? Why are you here?"

Fudge smiled and patted his shoulder, "Albus is an old friend of mine. I came to see him."

Scrimgeour frowned, "Mr. Minister, I have just finished the interrogation, so I will not disturb you any more."

After he left, the smile on Fudge's face disappeared instantly.

"Albus, do you really have to go against me?"

Dumbledore looked directly at Fudge with his azure eyes, as if he could see through his heart. "Cornelly, I never intended to go against you. You should know better than me why things turned out this way."

Fudge came and sat down across from him, "Listen, Albus, Voldemort is dead, he can't appear again."

Dumbledore's eyes dimmed for a moment. "Cornelly, are you saying that the person who fought me that night was not Voldemort, but someone with ulterior motives pretending to be him?"

Fudge blushed, "Barty Crouch Jr.'s testimony is not credible. He knows Occlumency. All of this could be fake."

Dumbledore's tone turned cold. "Cornelly, I saw with my own eyes that he restored his strength through an extremely evil ritual. Do you think this is also fake?"

Fudge's face turned even redder, but then a look of resistance and stubbornness appeared on his face, "Albus! Do you know what you are doing? You are spreading panic! You are destroying everything we have worked hard for for 13 years!"

"Voldemort is back." Dumbledore once again put the reality in front of him. "Cornelly, if you accept this fact immediately and take the necessary measures, we may still be able to save the situation. First, we need to free Azkaban from the control of the Dementors -"

"Nonsense!" Fudge almost shouted, "Remove the Dementors? I'll be kicked out of my office the moment I suggest that! Half of us can only sleep soundly at night because of the Dementors standing guard in Azkaban!"

His almost hysterical roar made Dumbledore calmer. "Cornelly, the Dementors cannot be loyal to you. Voldemort can provide them with power and pleasure, which is much more than what you can provide. Once Voldemort has the support of the Dementors, his former sworn friends will return to him one after another. By then, it will be difficult for you to prevent him from regaining the power he had 13 years ago."

Fudge's mouth opened and closed, as if no words could express his anger.
