Chapter 36 Loyal’s retirement life
The gray whale stopped moving and floated quietly on the sea.
Loyal urged the boat to come to them.
"Loyal!" Roman shouted happily. He quickly climbed onto the boat and used his wand to clean his water-soaked shoes.
"This is Luo Fu." Without raising his head, he stretched out his hand and pulled Luo Fu, who was halfway up, into the cabin.
"Ah, hello, little master's friend."
Loyal did not stand up, but waved his withered hand to greet Rolf.
"Hello." Rolf stammered in response. He had never seen an elf dressed so formally.
No teapot covers, no pillow cases, clean and decent.Judging from the fabric, the outfit can even be said to be very expensive.
The crutch leaning against the seat seemed to be made of material that could be used to make a wand.
"Loyal, do you still recognize him?" Roman pointed at the huge shadow under the boat.
"Of course, we met him in the Atlantic Ocean." Loyal looked at the outline of the whale. "Thanks to him, otherwise we would have suffered that time. So I urgently modified the Oak Arrow 79 after I went back."
Roman moved his mouth, but in the end did not point out that Loyal's modification was as reasonable as lightning.
Loyal stuck his head out and said, "Old man, are you okay? Don't move around and watch out for my boat."
As Loyal talked nonchalantly, the gray whale sank quietly, and then carried the boat on its back.
Loyal didn't do much, but the gray whale naturally turned around and swam in the opposite direction to the setting sun.
"Where did you find him? I thought you'd had enough of the marsh werewolves and the horned water snakes, and of course the horrible 'wand license' system."
Loyal apparently misunderstood Roman's schedule.
"If they hadn't repealed Rappaport's law, our life would probably be more difficult." Roman nodded in agreement, "But this time he found me."
Loyal's face was very gentle. He stretched out his slender index finger as if he wanted to touch the gray whale's skin, but he was short in stature and there was a long distance between his fingertips and the whale's back.
Roman used his wand to suck the moisture out of the lining.
Jin Feixia felt the change in the environment and struggled to show his head in his arms.
But it had been tortured so much that it had no strength to fly, so it had to drop its round body at the feet of everyone.
"A Snidget." Loyal stretched out a finger to tease its long beak. "Mr. Abner always wanted to get one to deliver letters."
"It's not suitable for long journeys." Roman looked at the Golden Snidget's ball-like figure with disgust, "Speaking of which, where have you been these days?"
"I went back to Rebos Farm to take a look. It has been restored perfectly. You can go back and have a look during the holidays." The elf shook his head, "But Loyal can't stand it."
Roman understood its mood and nodded.
Luofu also knew that he shouldn't interrupt, and just quietly arranged his clothes.
"By the way, how did you find me?"
Roman had already packed up and started questioning Loyal. He knew that with the speed with which he could unblock and recover, Loyal would not have time to react.
"Who knows?" Loyal muttered in a low voice, and the gray whale carried the boat, rising and falling on the sea accompanied by his words.
"I'm used to wandering, but a house elf would feel flustered after having a fixed residence." It shook its head, as if this was a very funny thing.
"So I built it—" Loyal patted the boat beneath him, "and let it help me decide where to go. I stole it from a Muggle park and modified it."
Loyal looked at Roman's frown and added:
"I'm sorry, I said the wrong thing. I took the things away quietly without others knowing."
"No, I mean, why don't you get a bigger one; besides, we have no shortage of Muggle coins." Roman looked at the somewhat cramped space.
"This is big enough, and Loyal's magic has its limits. It is safe enough, and it may even be able to resist the whirlpool." The elf smiled, seeming to be quite satisfied with the ship.
Roman lowered his head and looked at the cracked paint.
Then, he saw the "Daily Prophet" placed in the corner of the cabin, and he probably understood something.
"Loyal, don't get into a big fight over such a trivial matter next time."
If Loyal wasn't pretending to be confused, he just didn't understand.Ta continued to tease Jin Feixia.
Luofu also wisely did not say that Roman was also "going to war" just now.
Roman had to continue explaining:
"If they really decided to attack me unanimously, they would not use such vague reports, nor would they send a few dementors secretly."
"Dementors?" The elf's eyes widened, "Have you encountered a dementor?"
"Nothing." Roman's fingers tapped on the side of the boat irregularly. He wasn't sure what method the Ministry of Magic used to let the dementors find him.
Was it the magic fluctuation at that time, or was it an accidental collision...or...
"You can't underestimate those kinds of creatures, they're extremely scary."
His thoughts were interrupted by Loyal.
"Yes, but it's also extremely unreliable." Roman indicated that he understood. Then he turned his back to Luof and took out the dragon bone staff.
He lowered his voice:
"Loyal, I think you have to do me a favor and find a safe place to hide it."
He didn't know how to explain the concept of Horcruxes to the elf.
But the elf didn't want to hear his explanation either.
Loyal didn't ask anything, but he widened his cloudy eyes, as if he could let Roman see his soul.
"No, Master. Promise me to keep it with you."
They fell silent until the sun had exhausted its last traces of warmth.
"We can't go any further. The water depth ahead is too dangerous for the whales."
Loyal looked at the gray continent in the distance.
Roman turned his head and looked at the gray whale underwater with embarrassment.
"Don't worry about it, I will help it find its tribe."
Loyal stood up, and as the boat rocked, he stood on the side of the boat like an acrobat.
"Where are you going? You should be at the farm, or Hogwarts..."
Roman grabbed its arm as thin as a hemp rod.
Loyal smiled softly and patted the strong arm of his little master with his thin palm.
"Please don't embarrass an old elf. I remember you once said that sailing in the sea means going to the horizon for a beautiful date."
Then it flicked its fingers, and Roman's hand was pushed away by a gentle force.
He did not stop him again and watched Loyal jump onto the gray whale's broad back.
"Come on, old man."
The gray whale seemed to understand something and began to move slowly towards the junction of the sky and the sea. The boat was pushed by the waves set off by its tail and continued to move towards the mainland.
Loyal urged the boat to come to them.
"Loyal!" Roman shouted happily. He quickly climbed onto the boat and used his wand to clean his water-soaked shoes.
