Chapter 104 The Hunting Begins (2nd update, please subscribe, please vote)
In the wind and snow, five missile-like landing shuttles fell from the sky.
Not long after, an agent was patrolling the perimeter and suddenly noticed an unusual noise mixed in with the sound of wind and snow.
"Quinn, are you there?"
Upon seeing this, the agent called out the name of his companion while carefully observing the surroundings.
But it still failed to save him from the fate of death.
"Ah~!"
Hearing the screams in the distance, the agents stationed outside the tunnel tensed up and quickly opened the safety bolts of their firearms. The green light emitted by the laser sight continued to scan the surroundings.
'Puff~'
An invisible spear fell from the sky, pinning the agent at the rear directly to the snow.
"Enemy attack!"
Accompanied by a horrified shout, the sound of gunfire could not be heard.
'Da da da--! '
………………
"Allow...select...to enter..."
Touching the symbols on the wall, Sanna identified them one by one and successfully translated the meaning of this sentence: "Only the selected people can enter."
"Only the chosen ones?"
Somehow, an ominous premonition suddenly arose in Kahn's heart.
But the surrounding agents paid no attention and continued to explore deeper into the pyramid along the corridor.
They had seen similar situations many times, so it was nothing to make a fuss about.
After walking down two consecutive steps, everyone entered a hall that was obviously different from the ones they had experienced before.
After seeing the scene in the hall, even the well-informed agents could not help but feel frightened.
Chapter [-]: Coffin-shaped stone platforms are placed in a ring in the center of the hall. On each stone platform lies a mummy with a large hole in its chest.
There are also some sculptures of unknown meanings carved on the surrounding walls, and in the depressions on the walls on both sides, there are hanging skulls and heads with long spines.
After a cursory scan, Kahn discovered that there were no less than a hundred such skulls.
"Where are these places?"
"This is the sacrificial chamber, the place where the chosen ones sacrifice to the gods."
While carefully looking at the mummy on the altar, Sanna patiently explained: "It may be from the Aztecs and Egyptians. The cultures related to the pyramids all advocate religious sacrifices."
"The chosen ones are lying here without any signs of bondage. They are all voluntary, both men and women."
"Why are they willing to do this?" A paleontology expert couldn't help but ask.
"This is regarded as an honor by them." Sanna replied without looking back.
Kahn also joked: "What a lucky man."
The female historian was not in the mood to answer the conversation at this time, and was concentrating on interpreting the special symbols engraved on the edge of the altar.
"They gave their lives so the hunt could begin."
Hawkeye came closer, pointed at the mummy on the altar, looked at the expert and asked, "What's going on?"
"In sacrifices, it is very common to take away the heart of the sacrificer."
Sanna answered casually.
"That's fine, but that's not where the heart is."
Touching the big hole in the chest of the mummy, Hawkeye analyzed with a solemn expression: "In addition, judging from the wounds, the bones look like they were broken violently, as if something came out of the body."
After listening to the other party's analysis, Kahn's heart froze.
Something came out of my chest. Why did this method of death sound familiar?
"That's not something I can answer."
Sanna said she was helpless.
"Oh~ God."
At this time, an exclamation suddenly came from the side.
Kahn looked around and saw the faceless Dr. Miller holding a skull and marveling.
"It's unbelievable, the entire skull and spine were severed in one piece."
"Look here, the flat and smooth cut marks, without any wear or anything, just like they were cut by a high-intensity laser."
He does not mean that.
A terrible idea immediately appeared in the minds of the sensitive Hawkeye, Natasha and others.
The bones in this pyramid are probably all left by those aliens.
'pata~'
An ellipsoid-shaped object suddenly rolled down from the top of his head and hit the arms of an agent who was using video equipment to record the surrounding murals. He was so frightened that he almost went off the gun.
"I buy it!"
Everyone's eyes were also attracted by the scream.
"What the hell is this?"
Looking at the strange creature on the ground that was the size of a volleyball, had four pairs of spider-like appendages, and a long tail, Natasha's beautiful brows furrowed into a frown.
"It looks like some kind of scorpion."
The paleontologist took the initiative to move forward, stared at the weird arthropods on the ground, and analyzed: "No, the environment here is very unfriendly to scorpions."
"Whatever it is, it has been dead for a long time and the bones are completely calcified, and the low temperature environment here has preserved it."
"Mother Falk."
After seeing the appearance of the strange creature clearly, Kahn couldn't help but curse.
Why does this thing look so familiar?
Thinking of the strange death methods of the mummies on the altar, Kahn's heart sank to the bottom.
It's not really that kind of monster, is it?
"Have you seen anything like it?"
Hearing the whisper of the man next to her, Sanna looked over curiously.
Kahn wanted to reply, 'I saw it in a movie,' but when the words came to his lips, he held back and said perfunctorily: "No, I just have a bad feeling in my heart."
After seeing that the paleontologist could not see anything more, an agent immediately took out the storage box prepared in advance and sealed the weird creature in it, preparing to take it back for study.
After coming back to their senses, the others continued their journey of exploration.
Arriving at the center of the seven altars, Natasha took out a fluorescent stick from her bag, broke it gently, squatted down and stuffed it into the hole in the ground.
Noticing his friend's strange behavior, Hawkeye asked with concern: "What did you find, Natasha?"
"A passage leads to another floor. It seems that there is another room hidden below."
Through the dim light emitted by the fluorescent stick, Natasha could barely see clearly the scene under the circular manhole cover.
"Let's go to the room below."
After thinking for a while, Hawkeye made a decision: "Phillip, stay up there with the second group, be careful and be prepared for support."
Then, he looked at Kahn and others: "As for the rest of you, except for Miss Sanna, you have to go voluntarily."
"I'll go as well."
Kahn chose to go with him without hesitation.
Even he wasn't completely sure about the terrifying creature that was specifically designed to kill and was more troublesome than a hedgehog.
Since Hawkeye and Black Widow can become one of the six living Avengers legends in the future, it is definitely safer to be with them than to stay up there.
"I'll join." "I'd better stay up there." "I don't want to be a burden to you"...
Among the remaining four people, only Dr. Miller chose to go together, and the other three declined for various reasons.
