Marvel's Dimensional Envoy
Chapter 45 A hearing destined to be fruitless
The hearing was held as scheduled, but Tony and Mike never really took it to heart.
The hearing was just a test, they were testing Stark's bottom line.
Tony was chatting with Pepper in a low voice, while Mike sat quietly watching the performance of the Senator, or Hydra.
"Mr. Stark, can we continue what we were talking about? Mr. Stark, please turn around."
Looking at Tony who turned his head to talk to Pepper, the senator on the stage knocked on the small wooden hammer in front of the stage and said.
"What's wrong honey?"
Tony said as he turned back.
"Please don't look around, okay?"
The senator gritted his teeth. After all, Stark has too much power in a country.
"Of course, please continue."
Tony spread his hands and motioned for the senator to continue.
"Do you possess a specialized high-tech weapon?"
"Weapons? I don't have any."
"No?"
"It depends on how you define the word 'weapon.'"
"Iron Man is a weapon."
The senator raised his voice as if it would give him courage.
"Weapon? My equipment does not match your description."
"So...how would you describe it?"
The senator asked next.
"I think it should be realistic and what it is should be Senator."
"what is it then?"
"A high-tech prosthetic limb"
"This...this is..."
Even the well-informed senator was speechless by Tony's shamelessness.
"Actually, that's the best description I can come up with."
Tony smiled and made another stab.
"That's a weapon that's a weapon Mr. Stark."
The senator raised his voice again.
Mike shook his head slightly from behind. This senator was a bit inferior.
"Wait a minute, if what you really care about is the safety and contentment of American citizens..."
"What I really care about is getting Iron Man weapons to the people of America."
The senator interrupted Stark and thought he had seized the opportunity to overwhelm Tony with his righteousness.
"Don't even think about it, I am Iron Man. That suit of armor and I become one. Handing over the Iron Man suit would be tantamount to handing over myself which is tantamount to indentured slavery or prostitution depending on the circumstances."
"I just can't give you the answer. Listen, I'm not an expert..."
"Expert on prostitution? Of course not. You're a senator, don't be ridiculous."
Tony's gag made the senator so angry that he had nowhere to vent his anger.
"I'm not a weapons expert, but we have weapons experts here."
Senator Stan spoke out, the chairman of the Pennsylvania Armed Services Committee and a Hydra-trained politician.
"I'd like to bring up Mr. Justin Hammer, one of our current major weapons contractors."
Following Senator Stan's words, Justin Hammer walked in.
"Having said that, I did notice Mr. Hammer entering the conference hall. But I have been wondering when will a real expert arrive?"
As Tony asked, the people around him laughed.
"With all due respect, Mr. Stark. I may not be an expert, but you know who is?
Your dad, Howard Stark.
He is truly the reborn parent of all of us and the ancestor of the military-industrial era.
He is not some idealistic hippie who opens the sky and speaks his mind. He is a lion.
We all know why we're here. Over the past six months, Tony Stark has created a double-edged sword, but he still insists it's a shield and has everyone trust him to hide behind it.
I also wish I could breathe a sigh of relief, Tony, I'm not going to lie to you. I also wish my door would be unlocked when I go out, but this is not Canada.
We must know that the world we live in is extremely dangerous, and Mr. Stark may not always be able to predict the situation and turn danger into disaster.
Thank you.
God bless Iron Man and God bless America. "
"That's right, Mr. Hammer, that's right, Mr. Hammer. The committee wants to invite Lieutenant Colonel James Roddy into the meeting."
After listening to Hammer's passionate speech, Senator Stan immediately asked Roddy to come in, preparing to make the final decision and win the Iron Armor.
"What? Roddy?"
Tony didn't expect that the Senate would find Roddy.
"Hey man didn't expect to meet here."
Rody said hello awkwardly.
"Yes, it's me. Let's face reality."
"I just."
Roddy wanted to explain something, but Stark interrupted him. Tony knew that Roddy was a soldier, and soldiers had a duty to obey orders, and there was nothing wrong with that.
"do not talk."
"Let's not talk about it."
After hearing Tony's words, Roddy immediately stopped.
Roddy stepped onto the podium.
"I have a full report on Iron Man's weapons before me."
"Written by Lieutenant Colonel Roddy, Lieutenant Colonel, can you please read the fourth paragraph on page 57?"
Senator Stan spoke up.
"You're asking me to read a specific passage from the report, Senator?"
"Yes."
"It is my understanding that my testimony should have been more comprehensive and detailed."
"I understand but plans can't keep up with the changes, so just start reading."
"..You should realize that reading a passage out of context does not convey the full meaning of my testimony."
Roddy wanted to argue, but Senator Stan didn't give him another chance.
"Just read it, Lieutenant Colonel. I understand what you mean. Thank you."
"Ok."
Roddy agreed and turned the report in his hand to page seven.
"Because he is not affiliated with any identified government department, Iron Man is a potential threat to national security and its rights and interests."
"But what I also want to conclude is that the advantages of Iron Man outweigh the disadvantages, and this is also for our own good..."
Roddy didn't stop and wanted to continue talking.
"That's enough Lieutenant Colonel."
Seeing that the situation was not going well, Stan opened his mouth to stop him.But Roddy still didn't stop.
"Mr. Stark..."
"I've said enough."
Senator Stan angrily tried to stop Roddy. But Roddy kept talking.
"Incorporate into today's control system Senator."
"I don't like to have a hand in everything, but if you beg me nicely, I can consider accepting the position of Minister of Defense so that I can waste less time."
Tony said while looking at his phone and smiling.
"I am going to show you the images related to your report, but of course I understand that it is not yet time to disclose these images to the public.
"No offense, but Tony., that's against the rules."
"Lieutenant Colonel, I understand that I would be grateful if you could help us explain these images."
"Show the image."
Tony used his cell phone to give orders to Jarvis, invading and controlling the senator's network and computers, as well as various experimental data and information collected by the military.
