Connor's Hogwarts

"It seems kind of embarrassing to row a boat, but," said Hagrid, casting another sidelong glance at Harry, "if I make--make--go faster, can you not mention it at Hogwarts?" ?”
"Of course," said Harry, anxious to see more spells.Hagrid drew out his pink umbrella, tapped the side of the boat twice, and they headed swiftly for the shore.
"Why do you say crazy people are going to rob Gringotts?" Harry asked.
"Because they're one of the safest places in the world," said Hagrid, opening the newspaper.
"The most secure vaults at Gringotts are guarded by dragons. You have to find your way to get there, and Gringotts is hundreds of miles underground in London, you understand? Deeper than the Tube. If you There is a way to steal something, and before you find a way out, you will starve to death."
Hagrid started reading his Daily Prophet while Harry sat thinking.Harry knew from Uncle Vernon that it was always quiet when people were reading the papers, but it was so difficult, and he had never had so many questions to ask in his life.
"The Ministry of Magic always messes things up," Hagrid complained, flipping through the paper.
"And the Ministry of Magic?" Harry couldn't help asking again.
"Of course," said Hagrid, "of course they wanted Dumbledore to be their Minister, but he was determined not to leave Hogwarts. So old Cornelius Fudge took the job. The most thoughtless of men, always screwing things up. That's why he used to send a lot of owls to Dumbledore every morning to ask Dumbledore for ideas."
"But what does the Ministry of Magic do?"
"Well, their main job is to keep Muggles from discovering that there are still so many wizards and witches in this country."
"why?"
"Why? My goodness, Harry, everyone wants to use spells to solve their problems. But not everyone can use spells." At this moment, the boat touched the dock lightly, and Hagrid rolled up the newspaper. The two walked up the stone steps to the street.
People passing by all stared at Hagrid as the two of them walked across the town to the station.Harry didn't blame them, not only because Hagrid was twice the size of an average person, but he kept pointing at something as mundane as a car parking meter, saying aloud
"See that thing, Harry? Another Muggle trick, huh?"
"Hagrid," said Harry, out of breath trying to keep up with Hagrid, "you mean there are dragons in Gringotts?"
"Yeah, they say that," said Hagrid. "Yo, I want a dragon too."''
"You want a dragon too?!"
"I've wanted it since I was a kid—this way."
They arrived at the station, and there was a train for London in five minutes.Hagrid said he wouldn't use Muggle money, so he slipped the banknote into Harry's hand and told him to buy a bus ticket.People stared at them even more on the train - Hagrid took two seats.
After sitting down, she wove a light yellow thing like a circus tent.
"Have you brought your letter?" he asked while counting stitches.
Harry took a parchment envelope out of his pocket and said he had it.
"Well," said Hagrid, "there's a list of essential supplies inside."
Harry opened the second page of the letter that he hadn't noticed last night, and read that Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry [uniforms] require 1.Three sets of plain work gowns (black)2.A plain peaked hat (black) for day wear 3.A pair of protective gloves (made of dragon skin or similar materials) 4.A winter cloak (black, with silver buckles). "Can we get all these things in London?" Harry asked aloud.
"As long as you know the way," said Hagrid.
Harry had never been to London before.Although Hagrid knew the way, it was obvious that he had not come in the way of ordinary people in the past.He got stuck at the subway ticket gate, then complained loudly that the seats were too narrow and the train was too slow.
"I don't know how these Muggles do without spells," Hagrid added, as they climbed down the broken escalator to the bustling high street lined with shops.
Hagrid was tall and burly, and he squeezed through the crowd without any trouble, and Harry just had to keep close behind him. They passed bookstores, record stores, burger joints, movie theaters, but couldn't find a store that sold wands.
It's just an ordinary street, crowded with ordinary
Passionate.Could there really be piles of wizards' gold buried beneath their feet? Would there really be a shop selling spell books and broomsticks? Could it all be some big joke from the Dursleys?
Perhaps Harry would have thought so if he hadn't known that the Dursleys had no sense of humor; but everything Hagrid had said so far was too surreal to believable, and yet he couldn't help believing him.
"Here it is," Hagrid said, stopping. "The Leaky Cauldron. It's a famous place."
This is a dirty little bar.Harry probably wouldn't have noticed if Hagrid hadn't pointed it out.People hurrying past don't even look at it.Their eyes rested only on a large bookstore on one side and a record store on the other. They don't seem to see the Leaky Cauldron at all.
Harry had the odd feeling that only he and Hagrid could see the pub. Before he could speak, Hagrid had pushed him into the shop.
As a famous place, it is too dark and dirty here.Several old women were sitting in a corner drinking sherry from small glasses, and one of them was smoking a long pipe.A little man in a top hat was chatting with a barkeeper who was almost bald and looked like a blunted walnut. What kind of cards were they playing?Do wizards also play poker?
No sooner had they entered than the chattering stopped suddenly.Everyone seemed to know Hagrid here, they smiled and waved at him.The barkeep picked up a glass and said, "As usual, Hagrid?"
"No, Tom, I'm doing some errands for Hogwarts." Hagrid patted the barkeeper on the shoulder with his huge palm, almost pinning him down.
"My God," said the barkeeper, looking carefully at Harry, "this is—is this—" There was a sudden silence in the Leaky Cauldron.
"Oops!" whispered the barman, "Harry Potter—it's an honor." He hurried out from behind the bar, ran up to Harry, and grabbed his hand, tears welling up in his eyes.
"Welcome back, Mr. Potter, welcome back."
Harry didn't know what to say, everyone was looking at him.The old woman with the long pipe smoked so hard that she never noticed that the pipe was extinguished.Hagrid kept laughing. Then the chairs crackled, and Harry suddenly found himself shaking hands with everyone in the Leaky Cauldron.
"I'm Cordry, Mr. Potter. I can't believe I've seen you at last."
"It's an honor, Mr. Potter, it's an honor."
"I've been looking forward to shaking hands with you - my heart is pounding."
"I'm so happy, Mr. Potter, I can't explain how I feel. My name is Dick."
"I've seen you before," Harry exclaimed when Digg got so excited and his top hat fell, "you bowed to me once in the store."
"He still remembers!" Di Ge looked at everyone present and shouted, "Did you hear that? He still remembers me!"
So Harry shook hands over and over again, and Codoli always came running up to ask him to shake hands again.
A pale young man approached, looking very tense, with one eye twitching.
"Professor Quirrell!" said Hagrid. "Harry, Professor Quirrell was one of your teachers at Hogwarts."
"Potter," stammered Professor Quirrell, taking Harry's hand, "I can't express how happy I am to see you."
"What kind of magic do you teach, Professor Quirrell?"
"Defense against dark magic," said Professor Quirrell vaguely, as if he thought it best not to mention it. "You don't need to learn that any more, do you, Mr. Potter?" He laughed nervously.
"Are you going to buy what you need? I'm going to buy a new book about vampires, too." It seemed that the thought of it freaked him out.
But the rest of the people wouldn't let Professor Quirrell talk to Harry. It took Harry about ten minutes to get rid of them.Amidst the chatter, Hagrid raised his voice and called Harry, "It's time to go, there's a lot to buy. Let's go, Harry."
Cordley shook hands with Harry one last time, and Hagrid led him across the bar to the small walled patio. There is nothing here but a trash can and some weeds.
Hagrid grinned at Harry.
"Didn't I tell you, didn't I? Told you that you were famous. Even Professor Quirrell trembled before you, though, I remind you, he trembled a lot."
