Journey to the West: Man in heaven, working nine to five

#1951 - Practice is the only criterion for testing truth

Under the night sky, Tang Sanzang stood before Chu Hao, his fair face filled with a thirst for knowledge.

This eminent monk, who had cultivated in the Great Tang for many years, found his heart filled with doubts once more after experiencing so many events.

Ultimately, his confusion stemmed from a slight bewilderment in his understanding of Buddhist doctrines.

In the high sky, Guanyin and谛听, who were silently watching here, also looked down with serious expressions.

When Tang Sanzang's heart wavered, a trace of surprise flashed across the face of the Guanyin Bodhisattva.

She didn't expect that Tang Sanzang would have a different understanding of worldly affairs, an understanding that might even shake his inner devotion to Buddhism.

This was something that had to be prevented.

“Guanyin, Great Master, should we stop them?”谛听 said anxiously.

Because the person Tang Sanzang was asking was Chu Hao, who was specifically targeting Mount Ling, if he were to answer, who knows what shocking words he might utter.

“What was that? Scared the hell out of this old pig.” Zhu Bajie raised his head and looked at the sky, muttering.

The four members of the master and disciples were all startled by the bolt from the blue.

Only Chu Hao's eyes were deep, with a smile on his lips.

He knew very well that this was Guanyin's warning, hoping that he would not slander Buddhism.

But if Buddhism was really correct, then how could there be any slander?

Thinking of this, Chu Hao looked at Tang Sanzang: “There's a saying that practice is the sole criterion for testing truth.”

“Practice is the sole criterion for testing truth?” Tang Sanzang murmured this sentence, pondering it in his heart.

At the same time, Guanyin in the high sky was also attracted by this sentence.

What is truth?

It is the most accurate and true theory in the world, the rule of heaven and earth, an existence that cannot be changed.

This Chu Hao actually used practice to flaunt truth, believing that after practice, one would know whether it was truth.

This statement is quite in line with Buddhism's entry into the world, and also coincides with some theories of Taoism.

It must be said that this statement is very beautiful.

Even Guanyin had to admit that this Chu Hao was a person of great wisdom.

On the ground, Tang Sanzang was quietly pondering, unable to find a way to understand it for a while.

At this moment, Chu Hao continued: “The Buddhist scriptures are not wrong, and the Taoist scriptures can also save the world. The key lies in the person who uses them and the results they produce after being used.”

As soon as these words came out, Tang Sanzang's heart suddenly cleared. He widened his eyes, looked at Chu Hao, his expression was incomparably pious, and he couldn't help but salute: “Listening to the words of the Immortal Teacher, this poor monk has gained a lot.”

Originally, he was still thinking about the difference between the two, as well as his views on the Buddhist scriptures.

Now it seems that what can save the world is the truth, whether it is the Buddhist scriptures or other things.

And he, Tang Sanzang, is proving through practice that the true scriptures can save the world.

That's why he traveled thousands of miles, crossing many dangers, to go to the Western Paradise to seek the true scriptures.

At this moment, Tang Sanzang already had an answer in his heart.

He looked to the west, his determination to seek the true scriptures even more firm.

In the high sky, Guanyin, who heard the conversation between the two, breathed a sigh of relief.

Although Chu Hao's words had a bit of a dodging flavor, he ultimately did not slander the Buddhist Dharma.

In fact, Chu Hao had never disliked the Buddhist Dharma scriptures. He also didn't think that some of the principles in the Buddhist Dharma scriptures were wrong.

From beginning to end, what he hated were those self-righteous, aloof cultivators of Buddhism.

They simply did not comprehend the true scriptures, and flaunted themselves as the true Buddhist Dharma, wanting to drive the world for their own use.

In Chu Hao's eyes, this kind of behavior was using the name of Buddhism to manipulate the world, and he really didn't think it was very noble.

This was also one of the reasons why Chu Hao became the protector of this journey to the west.

He wanted Tang Sanzang to comprehend the true Buddhist Dharma.

The sky gradually darkened, and everything returned to peace.

In the Infernal Purgatory, Gu Yang was leisurely sitting on the throne of the main hall, with a calm and composed posture.

“Has that Maitreya Buddha been up to anything lately?” Gu Yang looked at Yue Shan and asked.

Yue Shan shook his head: “Master, recently he has been lecturing in his own Little Thunderclap Temple.”

“Interesting, I wonder if the scriptures he lectures are different from those of Mount Ling?” Gu Yang said with a smile on his lips.

“It's just some hypocritical and useless words.” Yue Shan sneered.

Unexpectedly, Gu Yang shook his head and said: “Not so, the scriptures are not wrong, it is the person who uses them that is wrong. If possible, I would also like the demons to listen to the lectures of the Buddha of the Future.”

“Master, why is that?” Yue Shan asked in confusion.

“The demons bear sins and are disturbed by the fire of karma. If they can understand the truth and escape from the sea of suffering as soon as possible, wouldn't that be even better?” Gu Yang's eyes were bright and incomparably earnest.

This made Yue Shan even more confused.

Gu Yang continued: “No one is perfect. Don't think that all of us demons are great sinners. You really should go listen to the Buddhist scriptures.”

“But isn't that what the world thinks?” Yue Shan muttered.

Gu Yang suddenly burst into laughter: “Haha, the world is ignorant, are you also ignorant? If we really harm the way of heaven, why would the way of heaven still allow us to exist?”

“Demons killing people is heinous, while Buddhism allowing their demon subordinates to eat people is saving all living beings. Where does this reasoning come from?”

“There is no difference between our Demonic Sect and Buddhism, it's just that in the past years, we became the losers, so we hide in this Infernal Purgatory all day long.”

“I understand.” Yue Shan seemed to understand his meaning.

“It's good that you understand. Let Maitreya Buddha not be obsessed with lecturing. I'm still counting on him to deal with Buddhism.” After Gu Yang finished speaking, his whole body disappeared, vanishing from the throne.

… …

In the early morning, the sky gradually brightened, and Tang Sanzang had already woken up.

He looked at the rising sun on the horizon and asked his disciples to change into the clothes that Sun Wukong had stolen last night.

After some dressing up, they really didn't look like monks anymore.

“Master, are we going straight there on this trip?” Sun Wukong asked.

Tang Sanzang nodded: “After I obtain the true scriptures, I will solve the matter of this Kingdom of Extermination of Dharma.”

After last night's exchange, Tang Sanzang realized that he was not yet capable of persuading the king, and planned to avoid his sharp edge first.

So, the group headed towards the Kingdom of Extermination of Dharma.

On the way, they also encountered some passers-by leaving the city, who curiously sized up the group of five.

Although they had doubts, they ultimately did not reveal any flaws, and they did not see that four of them were monks.

All the way to the city gate, Tang Sanzang's heart became a little uneasy.

If they were recognized by the soldiers guarding the city, then everything they had done would be in vain.
