I'm a Master in India
Chapter 71 Dock Transaction
Sassoon Dock is located on the coast of South Mumbai, featuring a fishing pier, an old shipyard, and extensive seafood processing workshops.
In the evening, Ron, along with Luca and Anand, waited early at the Maboodi Restaurant here.
Their flatbread is quite good, perhaps that's why the restaurant is already packed with people.
This is a worker's restaurant, full from morning till night. It's filled with men and women who love this place and treat it like their own personal kitchen.
They are all nearby fishermen, shipyard workers, or those working in seafood workshops. They like this restaurant, although the decoration is simple, focusing only on practicality. But the food is cheap, and the place is spotless.
Those beautiful and delightful flatbreads are swiftly delivered to the customers' tables by busy waiters with a 'whoosh' sound, containing the most delicious mixed spices, unmatched by any restaurant in this city.
Just as Ron and his companions were feasting, a dark-skinned teenager wearing a loincloth and a sleeveless undershirt walked into the restaurant. He whispered a few words to Ron, received a 10-rupee tip, and then scurried away.
"Let's go." Ron got up to pay the bill.
They left the restaurant, crossed the road, and passed through the archway of the old shipyard. Ahead was the seafood processing area, and beyond that was the Arabian Sea.
In the evening sun, dried shrimp were piled into pink mounds, and the evaporating fishy odor was nauseating.
But as soon as they saw the sea, the stench disappeared in the strong sea breeze. Closer to the pier, they walked through crowds of people.
Men pushed handcarts, and women carried baskets on their heads, both filled with crushed ice and heavy catches of fish.
The ice factory and processing plants were working hard, clanging and banging, along with the sharp cries of auctioneers and vendors.
"Damn, why does this scene look so familiar? When we were trading weed in Brazil, we often chose places like this."
Luca was a bit sentimental, he liked this kind of disorderly, dirty, and vibrant scene. The adventure gene dormant in his blood was reawakened, and he began to feel a little excited.
"Don't make us look like a gang, this is a legitimate business." Ron rolled his eyes in dissatisfaction, he was an outlaw with a bottom line.
"Don't you hate the word 'legitimate'?" Luca retorted.
"Between 'legitimate' and 'evil', I'd rather choose 'legitimate', I'm the kind of Indian who values loyalty and righteousness."
"Dude, when did you become so humorous? You're a shrewd and ruthless businessman! A compliment, okay?"
"That's not a contradiction. Alright, I think I see Pant, look."
Under a messy and dilapidated shed, the wooden door of a certain room was opened, and Pant was sticking his head out and beckoning inside.
The group quickly walked over, and were shocked by his strange appearance as soon as they entered.
"Dude, what happened to you?"
"Those guys are crazy, they don't play by the rules at all."
Pant waved the arm that was still intact angrily, the other arm was wrapped in bandages and hung around his neck. His left foot also seemed to be in bad shape, and he walked crookedly, like a cripple.
"I heard Johnny say the problem was solved, I thought you were okay."
"Ah ha, except for being penniless, I'm fine now." Pant sarcastically said loudly, not knowing who he was mocking.
"Okay, we don't want to get involved in these things, we're here to talk business." Luca urged from the side.
"Yes, business, come with me!" He limped and pushed open another door in the room.
Going out from here was a courtyard, with high stacks of goods under a red tiled shed. They were covered by a layer of green tarpaulin, making it impossible to see what was inside.
"These are all of them, you can count them." Pant asked someone to uncover the tarpaulin, and boxes of medicines dazzled the eyes.
"God, didn't you say you were penniless? Where did you get these from." Luca hurriedly took out the list and excitedly pounced on the pile of medicines.
Not only him, Anand and Vinod also climbed the small mountain made of packaging boxes and began to count the medicines according to the manifest.
"Do you know what the most valuable resource of a distributor is?" Pant's expression was smug and proud, "It's the channels! We don't hoard goods, and we don't care about territory. As long as we have channels, we can continuously make money and make a comeback."
Speaking of this, he suddenly lowered his voice, and the light in his eyes slowly faded, replaced by resentment and a hint of fear.
"Ron, you know Hardkhan, right?"
"Yes, you know, Johnny and I are friends."
"You have to be careful of him."
"Who, Hardkhan?" Ron's heart skipped a beat.
Pant smiled strangely, he turned to face the piles of medicine, his expression seeming to have a sense of remembrance.
Ron was still pondering the meaning of his words just now, but Pant didn't seem to want to talk about this topic anymore, and the two were silent for a while.
"The types and quantities of these medicines are all correct, but there is one exception." Luca had already finished counting.
"What's the problem?" Ron walked over.
"Some of the manufacturers are different from last time." Luca walked over with the memo he had recorded.
"Pant?" Ron turned around.
"There's nothing to be alarmed about, there are tens of thousands of pharmaceutical factories in India, but they produce only so many kinds of medicines. It's not surprising that hundreds of factories produce popular medicines at the same time, and their efficacy is not much different. I can guarantee that there is no problem."
Pant's explanation still made people a little hesitant, but Ron also knew that this was the truth. He couldn't check the efficacy of each one, and Luca didn't mean to return the goods.
"These medicines with changed manufacturers are not that important, let's leave it like this for now." Luca himself accepted Pant's explanation, the medicines he cared about most had not changed, that was the main point.
"OK, happy cooperation, Pant."
"We are old friends, oh, did you bring your dollars?"
Pant's eyes were full of eagerness, now only these could make him cheer up again.
Ron winked at Luca, who put the suitcase on the ground and opened it.
"Forty thousand US dollars in cash, plus one million rupees, are all here."
"I like you guys, paying for the goods directly, without so much trouble."
According to the agreement, for the medicines worth more than 70,000 US dollars, 40,000 US dollars were paid in cash, and the rest was exchanged for rupees.
Pant touched the green US dollars, his lips trembling. What he held in his hand seemed not to be US dollars, but a stripped beauty.
"Okay, guys, our deal is clear."
He zipped up the suitcase again, "Next, there should be no problem with these goods, right?"
"Of course, we will take care of it."
Ron didn't just wait for these three days, he had already arranged everything.
